  1. Wait, so CGC will gladly take the insurance fees for a book that is extremely overvalued, but they won't pay out the money if they lose that book that we paid the extremely high amount of insurance on? That's correct?
  2. I recently watched an interview that was conducted with Matt Nelson about insuring comics for submissions where he said, "If somebody puts $10,000 on a book that was worth $500 and it got damaged or lost, I don't think we're going to pay out $10,000 ya'know. Yeah, I think we'd have to agree, we have to call them out on that one". Is this accurate? I think it's an important thing to know, moving forward. If this is what the company is standing by, will they be giving refunds to the customers that have over-insured their books? Thanks

  4. This is the first thing I thought about when I read this post. One of the books that I sent in is one of my Father's old comics. I insured it for what I believe it's monetarily worth, which isn't much because of the condition of the book ($200), but someone could offer me an exorbitant amount of money for it and I'd refuse because of the sentimental value that it holds. If that books gets lost, like yours has, the $200 back in my pocket won't even come close. For something like that I should have over-insured.
  5. Yeah, I feel ya. The whole CCS-length thing has soured me a bit. I think I'll end up practicing doing some cleaning and pressing on my own if I ever submit in the future. For me, on my first submission (only 5 books) and having it take this long makes me just not want to deal with the company. I think I'll end up continuing to spend my money on already graded books instead of paying to have mine graded until they figure this whole thing out a bit.
  6. Store credit lol. After reading this I'm having fears of my own. I haven't been waiting nearly as long as you did, but today the statuses of my books (which had been marked as received for over a month) are no longer showing up. This is my first time using CGC, so maybe it just means that they're going through CCS now? Not sure. Time to let the anxiety flow
  7. I appreciate the input. I'm just a collector, so it was something I had always wondered. I know of shops that deal with mostly only older books, and shops that deal with mostly only newer books. To me, it would be more difficult to succeed as a business doing either of the two. I feel like profit margin would make the choice obvious. Likewise if either the expensive or the cheaper books were "hot" while the other/s weren't. I guess I'm just asking more about people's personal tastes and choices at that point, which to me is useful
  8. I’ve been wondering this for a while. Would you as a comic shop owner rather have a higher priced book in your shop to sell or several lower priced books? The lower priced books surely are easier to move on their own I’d think. As an example, would you rather have a graded 9.0 copy of ASM 129 ($1800 value) or 6 copies of various $300 books? Or even 9 copies of $200 books? Thanks in advance
  9. I'm not sure if this seller should be on a block list, but I figure it wouldn't hurt to put their name out there and let others decide their fate. I bought a book on eBay from nobottombiz on 10/14. Didn't see anything from them about shipping through the estimated delivery time (11/8) so I opened a request on 11/9. Within an hour of opening that request I got notified that my package was finally being shipped and was given a tracking number even though I asked for a refund instead. Seller has yet to respond to the open request. I checked their feedback and this has happened a few times it seems.
