  1. So much to love about this book ... but how to grade these considerable flaws?
  2. Such a beautiful book! Would love your thoughts on the grade. I know it's not one of the big keys, but the lesser books also need some love!
  3. Half decent copy of a fairly average book. Would love to have thoughts on grade!
  4. Hi All, I would love your grading thoughts on this tidy copy of Superboy 93, please!
  5. Thanks all! That's been really helpfully and supports what i was thinking. Do you have a general rule about whether a book should go for pressing? Needs to be worth a certain amount, or is it case-by-case?
  6. Hi All, Here's my ASM51 - looks like it could do with a press, but not sure the cost of doing so would increase the value of this book. Looking forward to hearing people's thoughts on grade!!
  7. Hi All, Would love to hear your grading thoughts on this ASM35. Many thanks!
  8. Yup! I've seen staples like this on a few books over the years, but forgot about this one. I seem to own lots of books that grade low to mid, but have really nice-looking covers!
  9. Wow! So tough to get into the 9s! Would love to see this in a 9.6 or 9.8!
  10. Haha! Have a look at my ASM 13 that I recently posted - someone drew on that one too, and it was obviously a kid, or someone very childish!
  11. Another book that I don't remember buying, but happy to own, of course!
  12. My best condition early ASM. Fingers crossed for a flattering grade!
  13. It is with some sadness that I can report that I've just discovered that the spine is taped inside. I guess there was a reason I could afford this aged 15!
  14. Sorry! Trying to delete, but not clear how to do it!
  15. OK ... here is the 12! The streaky effect is sunlight through raindrops on the window! Not dirt!
  16. OK, this one's a little 'rougher' than my previous few Spideys! But a 14 year old trying to finish a run of Spidey 1-33 can't be too choosey! Ahem, some of you will find this 'funny' ... you'll see ... scroll further!
  17. It was only a tiny little comic shop - I really doubt he had other copies of AF15. If only he did have a 3.0!! I suspect this copy was considered too poor to try to sell at the time ... it was already an important book, but no idea it would become so big.
  18. Haha! Well, it was only $75 back in 1984. Even then, it wouldn't have taken long to work off. But I'm not sure these days 14 year olds would be allowed to work in comic shops being paid in comics!
  19. Thanks FroggyNelson! In the UK, getting this book CGC graded and slabbed would cost me a small fortune. If the book turns out to be a 1.5, at current market value, that puts it at $12,500 or GBP £9,425. CGC would charge 3.5% of market value to grade and slab it: $437 or GBP £330. I personally would rather buy another great book than spend $437 slabbing this. Batman 7 just sold on ha.com for this amount (as a 1.0). I know which I'd prefer!
