  1. Happy to shed some light here. In general we are obviously looking for sets with images and text. However, we are mostly looking at originality and whether or not the set conveys what that collector is all about. We shy away from sets where the text is copied from other sources unless that text also includes something specific to the collector. We tend to gravitate towards the sets that have 100% images, 100% text, overall set description and somewhat recent activity. The formatting does not matter as much to us as the content. So, if we are looking at a set that has beautiful formatting but nothing original, we would lean towards a set that may not be as pretty but has an interesting spin. Originality, originality, originality. We look for information that we can't get elsewhere. Is there a story to how you acquired something? We want to read about it. Do you have some cool related item? Load a pic in the second image field - you don't have to stick to using those fields strictly for front and back. If this all sounds vague, it's because this is super subjective. This is the category where literally anyone can win - deep pockets not required. And yes, if you want to campaign, go for it. We look at hundreds of sets for this category and if we are missing an obvious winner, we want to know it. Our goal is always to recognize effort.
  2. The deadline date is June 14. There was an error in the date originally displaying in that graphic but has since been changed to June 14. If you still see June 12 in the graphic, please refresh your screen and you will see the change.
  3. Please contact CGC Accounting at 1-877-NM-COMIC and someone will sort that out for you. Customer service is wading through lots of general inquiries regarding the price change. The quickest way to get a response is to go directly to accounting. We are so sorry for the inconvenience.
  4. Locking this topic at least for now. No good will come from letting this go on for another 42 pages.

An Explanation of the Philosophy Used to Moderate These Boards The board guidelines are driven by a general philosophy about how to moderate, what makes a healthy board, and how members should be treated. Like any policy of "enforcement" it sounds awfully grim when you read it. We feel that it's important to understand not only the raw basics of the system, but also the thoughts and philosophies behind that enforcement policy. Like any human endeavor, board posting and moderation is full of grey areas and disagreements of opinion. This makes a clear mutual understanding of the philosophy of the boards not just a "nice to have" but a pretty crucial part of people feeling comfortable and happy with the atmosphere around here. Board moderation is an art, not a science. Ultimately, it's a task that depends as much on the members of the board as it does on any ideas that the moderators have about how things should be handled. Every board's moderation must be orchestrated to embrace the culture of the bulk of its participants. That means that the level of moderation varies from group to group. In some groups, for instance, there is a looser standard towards "trash talking" and joking around because many members seem to enjoy it rather than get angry over it. Cultivating a healthy and happy message board is a pretty dynamic and squishy process. The posters who stir up issues are also often the guys who have made significant contributions to the discussions over a long period of time. In the meantime, a fair percentage of the board seems to enjoy bantering with them in their little off-topic diatribes. We could ban everyone that violates the general rules of conduct in a flare-up that lasts 24 hours, ignoring whatever positive contributions they have had over an extended period of time, but eventually this would result in a less healthy board. We prefer instead to work through a series of actions to check their behavior - that can ultimately lead to banning if that is required. We will from time to time handle board members in violation of the general rules of conduct through a process that includes warnings and some acknowledgement of their overall contribution to the boards rather than quick and heavy banning. It can and has resulted in bannings, but infrequently. The result of this measured approach is, in our experience, a more vibrant community. It's certainly not a perfect community. Some people don't like each other and show it and sometimes the posting gets out of hand and has to be corrected. These are, in our opinion, the hazards of maintaining an open community. The bottom line is this: what we're trying to create is an open and friendly atmosphere that allows everyone to speak their mind, but keeps things on a level where as many people as possible are having a good time. Moderation is tougher than it looks. All we can say is that we try to do our best. If all of you try to do YOUR best to meet these ideals BEFORE you hit the post button, things will go smoothly. The following behaviors may result in action taken by board moderators This is not an exhaustive list, it is only intended to be a series of examples to help clarify what is meant. Physical threats Excessively graphic sexual references and/or images, particularly when used in an insulting manner toward other members, but also in general Strong profanity, primarily when used in an insulting manner toward other members Masking of strong profanity - finding ways to defeat the profanity filters put in place, primarily when used in an insulting manner toward other members. (i.e. typing "@ss" instead of the real word in order to circumvent the filters Harrasment of another member through unwanted and repeated arguing and conflict - particularly when exemplified by "following" that person from thread to thread Particularly excessive off-topic posting Hi-jacking of other people's threads in a way that stifles the originally intended topic against the objections of the thread creator Inappropriate user names. Posting of any information which encourages or enables illegal or fraudulent behavior by others, particularly in regards to the hobbies covered here. Spamming the boards with repeated or similar posts Racist or "hate crime" type comments Inappropriate references (analogies, etc.) to significantly emotional topics such as Nazis, slavery, etc.. If you have to wonder whether someone with a personal involvement in the topic would find your comment strongly offensive, you probably shouldn't make it. Threads started explicitly to bash other members Pork Barreling - placing small inappropriate statements within longer posts whose content is mainly legitimate. These post will get pulled and you will lose the positive with the negative. Creating shill accounts, accounts created as anonymous identities to push specific agendas.

9. Welcome to our boards! These boards are for the use and enjoyment of CSG Members. Board Guidelines These boards are meant to be an open and positive environment for the discussion of issues. As such, we encourage a free exchange of ideas and comments; however, participation on these boards is meant to be a positive experience for everyone. Board Restrictions Anyone may read these boards, however, only those who have signed up on the boards for a user name may start new threads. If you have not already registered yourself, please do so as a New User. This will allow you not only to start new threads, but will also make it easy to see what posts are new each time you re-visit the boards. Note that you are expected to make use of the "Report Post" link above each post in the event that you find a post you feel violates these guidelines. You are not to reply in kind as that will be just as much a violation regardless of the fact that it's a reply. We hope you'll find this area of the Collectors' Society a valuable part of our community, and again, welcome. Below are the terms of use which you must agree to in order to use this site. 10. The following guidelines are now in effect. Over some period of time these may be modified or expanded. Note that BUYERS AND SELLERS HAVE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR TRANSACTIONS. We will not resolve disputes, and purchases & sales are done at your own risk. For Sale — Threads may be removed for failure to comply, and repeated issues could result in suspension of your chat board account. Cards must be CSG or raw only, or items directly related to cards. No spamming. Group your for sale items into one thread in each sub-forum. Attempts to take up front page real estate by creating multiple threads are not allowed. List your cards only once, and in the appropriate forum. Incorrectly placed threads or cards posted in multiple places will be moved. Repeat offenders will have their threads pulled completely. It must be an exclusive board-only offer. If the card is offered for sale through another venue (ebay, dealer site, personal web site, etc.) then it should NOT be offered here. Links to outside sites for any purpose involving purchasing the offered cards are not allowed. It must list specific cards with purchase prices. It is acceptable to bulk price, and/or to note that package discounts may be available, but you must list a starting price that you WILL sell for. List scans or an estimated grade of the offered cards (additional information giving the rationale for the grade is also beneficial and will help your sale - ESPECIALLY if you do not have a scan - but not required in the initial post). List estimated shipping costs, times, and methods. List acceptable forms of payment (NOTE: PayPal "goods and services" is an acceptable payment method to list, but Personal PayPal, AKA "friends and family," is NOT allowed as a listed payment option as it is not appropriate for item purchases. It is also against the rules to ask for Personal PayPal via private message). You cannot post in a way that violates the terms of service for your payment methods. (NOTE: Specifically, no surcharges for accepting PayPal, or discounts for other methods) A return policy must be stated with any time limits indicated. It is acceptable to say "No time limit" and/or "No returns" and/or have time limits that vary by reason for return e.g. "30 day return for any reason. No time limit returns for "not as described'". But time limits must be stated. If posting a trading thread you must list a dollar value price for the book that you WILL accept in TRADE VALUE, and you MUST put "TRADE ONLY" in the title of your thread if you will not accept money. Prompt responses must be made to buy requests made through the boards (posts or PMs). Threads may be bumped three times total AND only ONE FULL DAY AFTER falling off of the front page. This does not include "sold" notices, or truly useful informational updates. Note: we CAN tell the difference between a real update and a fake bump-update. Tread that line at your own risk. If you're spam bumping, "lawyering" the rules will not save you. ALSO HIDING YOUR POST AFTER BUMPING WILL NOT SAVE YOU. Yep, we can see that stuff. Threads selling digital codes or digital versions are not allowed. Raffles are not allowed. Mystery boxes are not allowed. You must list everything you are selling exactly as the buyer will receive it. BUYERS — When you reply to a sale thread indicating that you'll buy something you must indicate what book you're buying. Otherwise, if someone else is more specific than you are first, your offer won't be considered valid.
  11. Regarding this one: Not sure what 'Member's Solved Count' means - this only seems to appear in the 'Chat Board Questions & Issues' forum so may relate to previously answered questions?: NOW UNDERSTOOD (BUT COULD BE REMOVED AS IT HAS NO PRACTICAL APPLICATION) I found the setting to remove it but it doesn't work and it has been reported to Invision as bug.
  12. External email notifications have been curtailed to a single line of text instead of the previous full post text I believe I found the setting to fix this issue. Let me know if you continue to see just a single line.
  13. Unfortunately we have been tied up with a number of time sensitive projects and have not been able to devote the time necessary to get these issues sorted out as quickly as we'd like. However, we are aware of them and getting to them as we have the time. The sidebar issue for example was something that required that we reach out to Invision support because the option to make it go away could not be found in our admin tools. Thank you for the time you've taken to help others deal with these unexpected changes.
  14. UPDATE: The cause of the broken images was that the upgrade reset the file storage location. That has been switched back, and images uploaded before yesterday's upgrade or after about 1:45pm EST today are appearing. Images that were uploaded while the file storage location was incorrect (from about 1pm EST yesterday through 1:45pm EST today) will be broken and unfortunately we don't have a way to resolve that beyond asking users to re-upload their images. So sorry for the inconvenience to anyone in that boat.
  15. Just a quick update on the broken images: The software vendor escalated the issue to their advanced support team last night. We don't have an exact timeframe for the fix but I can report that we do have their attention.
  16. Good morning, We are aware of the problem associated with the software update that took place yesterday and thank those who reached out to us about it. Unfortunately we are not always aware of how an update will impact the site as the updates come from a third party and we don't have the opportunity to test before applying it. We regret the difficulty and inconvenience this has caused and for not making a post to address this sooner. The following are the issues we are already working on: Broken images: We've reached out to the software vendor Missing "make sub-forum read" feature: We've reached out to the vendor Missing "back-to-top" arrow: We're in the process of getting this to appear again Long text sometimes doesn't get cut off properly: We're reviewing this New top post/posters sidebar that appears on the right in some threads It looks like this sidebar only appears once a thread has reached a certain number of replies. We're looking to confirm this. We feel like we should hide this because we don't think users particularly care about this info - we are discussing that.
  17. I'm hoping to get the $500 credits applied in the winners' accounts by the end of this week. Regarding the certificates and plaques, it always takes a bit longer than we like because it takes time to generate the lists, correct any issues in the data, get them through production and finally out the door. There were a couple of years where we had to wait on certificates or plaques that were backordered for several weeks.
  18. Please note that we will be performing server maintenance on Thursday, January 23, 2020. The NGC, PMG, CGC, ASG, CAG and Collectors Society websites and chatboards will be unavailable for approximately two hours beginning at 11 a.m. EST on Thursday, January 23, 2020. Our apologies for any inconvenience.

  20. Yes! Business as usual. Books are being done and shipped out. The problem lies with the server that feeds information to the web.
  21. We have no indication that this outage is the result of a malicious attack or breach of some kind. Our technical team is focusing all of their efforts on resolving this problem and we hope to have the website functionality back up and running as soon as possible.
  22. We are experiencing a technical issue on our server which means there is interruption in some website functionality such as submission/invoice tracking, certification verification and the processing of registry entries. We are working on the problem and hope to have a resolution soon.We apologize for this inconvenience.
