  1. I’d agree on the Taschen book comments made so far, the recent Marvel releases have just been incredible. Pricey but top quality. Silver Surfer is coming next and since I haven’t read much of the original run it’ll be great to see it all in XXL format. Another giant size book is coming in October for Hellboy; ‘Monster Size.’ It is due to contain a lot of the early stuff in super size format. I’ve slowed down on my omnibus collecting because of the space issue in my house but it’s so hard when I see the releases that keep coming! I’ve got Superman For All Seasons Absolute edition on its way next, well worth it for that Tim Sale art. Then I saw Absolute Court of Owls is getting a re release in December so going to have to put in for that one too and hope I can squeeze in another shelf somewhere….
  2. I thought this was excellent, far superior to pretty much all other shrek related sequels and spin offs. The kids loved it and the wolf was so well done, definitely pushed the limits of horror in a kids movie!
  3. Yeah I’d say that’s a good way of putting it. The build up has been full of all the nonsense we’ve read about but I now want to see what this DC plan really is.
  4. This is a great thread to pop in on. Never collected Spawn before until just now picking up those Origin Deluxe slipcase sets. I can totally see why these single issues would fly off the shelf each month, you’d collect them just as a cover gallery.
  5. It’s true, oversized books like the Taschens are amazing, but logically I know I have no where to put them! Yet when a new edition is announced I just can’t help myself…
  6. Yep, first 4 volumes are re released in time for the new 5th volume that just came out. The original 2010 release of Volume 1 in particular has been a crazy price on eBay for years. So it’s nice to pick up at normal value at last.
  7. Spawn Deluxe Slipcase volume 5 has finally released. Got it being shipped and on its way. I’ve always wanted these and was pleased to see that volume 1 - 4 has been reprinted after all these years. I also noticed the Folio Society website has a new Marvel edition out, this time of Dr.Strange. Really nice looking volume with a cool reprint of ST110. Again this series is one of those that I keep toying with. I feel like I’m having to choose between these and the Taschen Library volumes that are being released in regards to having some prestige Marvel collected editions on the shelf….
  8. Very tempted by that new Swamp Thing absolute. But it’ll have to wait as I’ve got the Taschen Fantastic Four library volume 1 on my list to get next. Those things are incredible.
  9. One is to finally get a nice single digit ASM into my collection. For some reason #7 has always been a favourite cover of mine and can be quite a good price for mid grade.
  10. I loved Cavill as Superman too and I’m disappointed to see him gone. It sounds like it could be a full reboot happening now to completely remove any prior story/baggage etc for all characters. I don’t see how they can cherry pick any of the other existing incarnations if the main guys gone. Not sure how that works with the upcoming films due for release, unless they go ahead and use the Flash movie to do the big reset and then from there it starts with the new DCU. Pretty sure it’s the last release on the current slate? It would still leave a door open just in case anyone returned down the line in a crisis type appearance. Even The Rocks Black Adam could be out there somewhere! I was hoping he’d get another chance with the character squaring up against some of the big guns.
  11. Direct yes, but have a stronger writer involved. His visuals and action choreography are excellent. Pair it with a top notch DC story and it would be amazing.
  12. I’ve got the Taschen ASM and Avengers, the £150 version, not the crazy expensive version that is even bigger with a fancier cover material. I think they’re amazing. They are giant size re prints with great paper quality and they just look incredible. I believe the FF version is due out early next year, then Cap later in 2023.
  13. Heck of a collection there, some brilliant stuff. You display your Absolutes the opposite way to me, with the slipcase facing out. Or is that just on some of them? Not that it matters of course, they look amazing both ways. Such a fantastic format.
  14. Makes you wonder if the studio want to see the upcoming Flash and Green Lantern projects do well before considering bringing the golden age versions along as part of the JSA.
  15. I think that’s what I’m most happy about with this one. My kids latched on to those Groot mini episodes so coupled with the christmas theme and they’ll be loving this.
  16. Looking at those options and it doesn’t make me think it’s going to be a ‘must see’ Avengers film like the first few were. But who knows, maybe the new generation of MCU fans will still love it and want to see the Young Avengers on screen. My comic book time on Avengers was pre the young stuff, so it doesn’t appeal to me in the same way at all.
  17. Black Adams appearance in Doomsday Clock (2017) is another modern interpretation that I think is great. Although that story is never a film adaptation that I could see happening, I can visualise The Rock in that role and how he intends for the character to be, challenging the heroes and being a major threat.
  18. Really enjoyed this one. I actually felt pleased for The Rock for getting to finally make this film! Then again I am a big fan of the guy. It’s got it’s flaws, mostly around some the extras and how I wish they’d tighten up some of the dialogue. JSA were awesome to see though, Hawkman was excellent. I like how they left things at the end and the credit tease was hopefully a sign of good things to come.
  19. Crazy the price it takes to get a spinner rack. I’m pretty sure diamonds don’t do them anymore and I can’t believe no one’s started making new ones again, got to be a good amount of demand out there. I don’t hold out much hope finding one of these in the Uk, might have to settle with a card rack or something that gets relatively close to the dimensions.
  20. Got this off Prime for the kids and they loved it. Just admit I did raise a smile at a few of the DC in jokes and loved the Black Adam cameo. The Rock is taking charge of the DC movies now and I’m all in for it.
  21. Absolute Doomsday Clock has arrived. Beautifully put together as always with these editions. It reads so much better in one volume. I remember liking it when it was first released but the long gaps between issues just killed the momentum, so much so I was forgetting what even happened. I miss this type of DC story. The last couple of years have been so poor in comparison. Dark Crisis for example is not anywhere near this level.
  22. Just starting Stephen Kings Fairy Tale. I’m a big fan of his Dark Tower series so hoping he’s able to capture some of his fantasy greatness.
  23. Finally got my Simpsons Treehouse of Horror Omnibus, love it, and such a good price! Also noticed my pre order for Absolute Doomsday Clock has just been charged so it’s finally been released after so many delays. Next on the list is going to have to be the FF Full Circle book after seeing the rave reviews. Shame I can’t get that awesome slipcase version but secondary market prices are a bit far fetched.
  24. Yeah up to book 5 I thought it was amazing. Final volumes not so much. Having a proper go at a new adaption could be a chance to make it right and I’d bet King would be interested in having that opportunity too. The film was such a waste of the talent involved. If they stuck to the source material of the first few books it could be incredible!
