  1. I’d agree on the Taschen book comments made so far, the recent Marvel releases have just been incredible. Pricey but top quality. Silver Surfer is coming next and since I haven’t read much of the original run it’ll be great to see it all in XXL format.

Another giant size book is coming in October for Hellboy; ‘Monster Size.’ It is due to contain a lot of the early stuff in super size format.

I’ve slowed down on my omnibus collecting because of the space issue in my house but it’s so hard when I see the releases that keep coming! I’ve got Superman For All Seasons Absolute edition on its way next, well worth it for that Tim Sale art. Then I saw Absolute Court of Owls is getting a re release in December so going to have to put in for that one too and hope I can squeeze in another shelf somewhere….

I have several Folio Society fiction books and they are well done.  Didn't know they had Marvel--might have to consider a few of them. Taschen is nice but I'm running out of space for oversized books.

It’s true, oversized books like the Taschens are amazing, but logically I know I have no where to put them! Yet when a new edition is announced I just can’t help myself…

  3. Spawn Deluxe Slipcase volume 5 has finally released. Got it being shipped and on its way. I’ve always wanted these and was pleased to see that volume 1 - 4 has been reprinted after all these years.

I also noticed the Folio Society website has a new Marvel edition out, this time of Dr.Strange. Really nice looking volume with a cool reprint of ST110. Again this series is one of those that I keep toying with. I feel like I’m having to choose between these and the Taschen Library volumes that are being released in regards to having some prestige Marvel collected editions on the shelf….

I felt he truly embodied Superman. Best Superman yet.    But, in Gunn I trust.   If Gunn could make excited about D-list characters, I could only imagine what the DCU has in store.  As much as I loved Cavill playing Superman, I am bullish on the future of the DCU.

I loved Cavill as Superman too and I’m disappointed to see him gone.

It sounds like it could be a full reboot happening now to completely remove any prior story/baggage etc for all characters. I don’t see how they can cherry pick any of the other existing incarnations if the main guys gone.

Not sure how that works with the upcoming films due for release, unless they go ahead and use the Flash movie to do the big reset and then from there it starts with the new DCU. Pretty sure it’s the last release on the current slate?

It would still leave a door open just in case anyone returned down the line in a crisis type appearance. Even The Rocks Black Adam could be out there somewhere! I was hoping he’d get another chance with the character squaring up against some of the big guns.

Snyder doesn't need to direct JL2, but I think it would probably be better if he does.

Direct yes, but have a stronger writer involved. His visuals and action choreography are excellent. Pair it with a top notch DC story and it would be amazing.

Has anyone b ought the Taschen Marvel Editions? ASM,, Avengers and FF. Just wondering if there are any owners of the limited editions. I was thinking of getting them for the Comic Room.

I’ve got the Taschen ASM and Avengers, the £150 version, not the crazy expensive version that is even bigger with a fancier cover material.

I think they’re amazing. They are giant size re prints with great paper quality and they just look incredible.

I believe the FF version is due out early next year, then Cap later in 2023.

I recently added about 80 books to my To-Buy list, so it'll get filled-out soon:

Heck of a collection there, some brilliant stuff.

You display your Absolutes the opposite way to me, with the slipcase facing out. Or is that just on some of them?

Not that it matters of course, they look amazing both ways. Such a fantastic format.

  8. Really enjoyed this one. I actually felt pleased for The Rock for getting to finally make this film! Then again I am a big fan of the guy.

It’s got it’s flaws, mostly around some the extras and how I wish they’d tighten up some of the dialogue. JSA were awesome to see though, Hawkman was excellent.

I like how they left things at the end and the credit tease was hopefully a sign of good things to come.

  9. Crazy the price it takes to get a spinner rack. I’m pretty sure diamonds don’t do them anymore and I can’t believe no one’s started making new ones again, got to be a good amount of demand out there.

I don’t hold out much hope finding one of these in the Uk, might have to settle with a card rack or something that gets relatively close to the dimensions.

  10. Absolute Doomsday Clock has arrived. Beautifully put together as always with these editions.

It reads so much better in one volume. I remember liking it when it was first released but the long gaps between issues just killed the momentum, so much so I was forgetting what even happened.

I miss this type of DC story. The last couple of years have been so poor in comparison. Dark Crisis for example is not anywhere near this level.

  11. Finally got my Simpsons Treehouse of Horror Omnibus, love it, and such a good price!

Also noticed my pre order for Absolute Doomsday Clock has just been charged so it’s finally been released after so many delays.

Next on the list is going to have to be the FF Full Circle book after seeing the rave reviews. Shame I can’t get that awesome slipcase version but secondary market prices are a bit far fetched.

Wizard and Glass was indeed a chore to get through....the first two times. Third time was a charm

It would be a good way to start the series, since working as a flashback half way through the series wasn't a good idea. He basically used it as filler because he had no idea how to finish the story, and lets be honest, he royally screwed the ending anyway.

Rushing a project because you fear your mortality has been proven here....

    Anyways

A 10 episode, two or three season series would be a delight, if staying true to the source material, and giving depth to the last two books, which quite frankly, sucked. They were terrible

Yeah up to book 5 I thought it was amazing. Final volumes not so much. Having a proper go at a new adaption could be a chance to make it right and I’d bet King would be interested in having that opportunity too.

The film was such a waste of the talent involved. If they stuck to the source material of the first few books it could be incredible!
