Not so sure about that but thank you. It’s been a long (and fun) journey. Likely. Someone got an even better deal second time around if that book is really 9.6. -

FINALLY! It’s been more than 3 years since I’ve had an upgrade to my CFD set. This #5 limited is now 1 of 2 in grade. Only one more 9.8 to go. A #7 limited (deluxe letterbox edition). Still zero on census in 24+ years of CGC slabbing books. Wild! Extremely happy to finally get this #5 limited, been a long road. -

In my 30 or so years collecting CFD, I found an item I had never seen before. Couldn’t remember if I’ve ever shared here before or not. Couldn’t find anything on it so I reached out to Joe Linsner, who confirmed this appears to be photocopy of issue 1 that they used to shop around to prospective publishers. Said he hadn’t seen one in many years. They ultimately published the book themselves but this seems like a very cool item that pre-dates #1. Figured I’d share here for anyone searching this thread. -

This old sketch book went for some pretty big bucks. Very cool item. Was hoping to win it but too rich for me. -

Crazy tough book in true high grade. Zero 9.8s prior to 2020. Now 2, both of which I owned (sold one to another CFD fanatic). Always has rusty staples inside at centerfold. If you are lucky enough to find one with clean staples - that shiny red cardboard cover shows every possible tiny defect and 9 times out of 10 it can’t be pressed out. Tbh I’m surprised that book didn’t go for more than it did. -

Posted in WTB thread as well. Anyone have a look sharp alphabet book they’d sell? A-Z copies. Example below (not mine). -

Blue Ribbon Comics #22 (3/42) CGC 2.5R OW pages Slight A-1 restoration - staples replaced, small amount of dried glue on staple - last issue Only 10 TOTAL copies on census, very tough book Closed
-
Blue Ribbon Comics #5 (7/40) CGC 4.5 OW pages - classic cover Only 10 universal copies on census, only 5 copies higher than this one. Closed
-
Hangman Comics #6 (1943) CGC 4.0R OW pages - restored slight C-1 - spine split sealed to cover Really nice colors on this copy. *note: name written in pen on Hangman's cape, don't believe that is associated with any known pedigree or collection. According to GPA a 2.5 C1 sold for $2,884 in 2021 and a 4.0 C1 sold for $2,400 in Dec 2023. I believe this copy is nicer than the one that just sold, so a bit tough to price. Closed
