The pieces: 10 assorted pages from issues 8 and 9 of the 1980’s DC Blue Beetle series. Pencils by Paris Cullins, inks by Dell Barras. Most of the pages have some sketches (some pencil, some ink) on the back, so I am showing both sides of each page. 5 Simple Rules (Please, please read) 1st wins; tie/indeterminate goes to the thread. Payment is Check or Money Order (yeah, yeah I know I'm a dinosaur, troglodyte, luddite, mennonite, hermaphrodite etc. - I just don't have or want e-payments.) Shipping: Within U.S., $25 box shipping unlimited; one page or the entire thread. (The boxes I use run me $7; the rest covers shipping. If it’s less, I’ll put the difference in the package. Art will be in cardboard sandwich with lots of bubble packing inside the box, which is wrapped in plain brown paper for that slightly seamy “racy lingerie/adult toy” feel. Will label as such at no extra charge, for the titillation of your postal carrier if you like ) Don't be listy including the little one in my head. Returns: Sure, just notify me within three days of receipt and get it back to me in the same shape on your dime. (Kudos thread linked under my avatar.)

The Books Lots of Great Golden age books (and a little silver and bronze) General Rules No PL/HOS members The new board software does not display precise thread post times (either in PMs or in sales threads), which can result in the inability to determine whether a PM post or thread post came first. One thing remains certain - it is easy to tell whether one post in a thread came before another post in the same thread. So, the first "take it" posted in the sales thread wins. If we reach a deal via PM, I'll mark books SOLD in the thread as soon as reasonably possible - but if someone else takes the book in the thread before your PM take is acknowledged in the thread (by either you or I), the thread poster is the winner, I'm afraid; so, there is some risk of losing a book if you try to remain anonymous via PM. (Credit to EC Ed for these rules. I have adapted them with his permission) I kindly ask that you not Quote a book and then make a comment. It makes the book appear to be sold. Payment I'll take PayPal for total sales under $1000 if PayPal is your preferred method. Personal checks, or USPS money orders for total sales $1000 or higher. When the thread is over an invoice will be sent with PayPal address. I'll expect payment within 10 calendar days of invoice, or the book will be available for sale again (unless we've made other payment arrangements) Time payments are available for purchases of $2500 or more with 20% non-refundable deposit and installment payments so purchase is paid in full no later than 60 days. If monthly installments are more than 10 days late or payment is defaulted the 20% deposit will be retained by the seller but the rest of monies will be returned to the buyer and the sale will be nullified. Please PM to discuss time payment before taking the book in the thread. I reserve the right to not take time payments. Shipping Terms USA: $10 for raw and $18 for graded in any quantity. I ship USPS priority with signature required. I pack in Gemini boxes in a USPS legal flat rate envelope for raw books and a Med flat rate box for slabs. Please note the shipping prices are slightly higher than they used to be. It is costing a little more these days. Canada: $15 for raw and $25 for graded in any quantity. Overseas- Shipping at cost. I only ship overseas to established board members with references. I now only ship one time a week so please be patient as it could take up to 10 days to ship your purchase. Returns/Refunds General Policy: I will accept returns on raw books within 30 days of your receipt of the books, as long as the books are returned to me as they were when you received them. There are NO RETURNS on CGC graded books. I always accept returns on raw books within 6 months if I missed restoration or the CGC grade is more than 1 grade off (for example I call a raw book a 5.0 and it comes back a 4.5 -no return. If it comes back a 4.0 you can return the book if you want for a full refund plus your shipping to me).

Hello CGC, and anyone else who peruses this thread! I'm creating this thread because the label update thread hasn't had a CGC response since 2015, and the changes I'm requesting are quite wide, a simple note within the books when being submitted wouldn't fix this problem for years. This has been on my mind for quite awhile now, and I finally realized that hopefully you guys can fix this. There are many things I collect, but two of the main things are Spawn and Blue Beetle. We all know that most of the early Spawn books were heavily overprinted for the direct market, what most people don't know is that they also printed books for the Newsstand, only ONE percent of what was printed for Direct. This means on a book such as #1, where there was around 1 million printed, there are only around 10,000 Newsstands. Now I know for #1 CGC has started to recognize the difference, however this difference is not only limited to number 1. Newsstands were printed from issue 1 through 112, and then 117-137. The Newsstand counterpart only becomes more rare as the print run decreases, combined with the fact that companies printed less and less newsstands as time went on. For example, Comichron indicates that for issue 137 (the final newsstand) there were 34,735 Direct units, this would mean that there were only around 3400 Newsstands printed IF Image was still printing Newsstands at 1% which they most likely were not. The whole point of this is that the CGC census is incorrectly displaying data unless you separate the two, for a book such as Spawn #98, there is only 9 on the census, so only one of them may be newsstand. That makes a huge difference, and would greatly help collectors like myself if we knew how many newsstands were actually on the census. With all that said, here are the specific label updates I am proposing in the event that a Spawn comic has a UPC, I will start with Spawn 2, even though you may already be labeling those. Spawn #2-63, 65-100, 106-112, 117-137 - Label: Newsstand Edition There are two different UPC editions for the following books, one with a sticker, and one without - Spawn #64 (only book with the UPC on the back, the sticker version has the barcode on the front) #101-105 - Label for those with a sticker: Sticker UPC Newsstand Edition; Label for those without a sticker: Newsstand Edition This means that the books on the first line should have two different designators on the CGC census (Direct and Newsstand Edition) and the books on the second line should have three different designators on the CGC census (Direct, Newsstand Edition, and Sticker UPC Newsstand Edition) The market needs to see these updates from CGC, it will help establish a true rarity of these books over the years. We, as collectors, know that they are very rare but it isn't being quantified. Please consider updating the early limited series' for Spawn as well, the complete info on which books have Newsstand can be found at the SpawnWorld link below. I also hyperlinked an article from 2015 that goes into more detail about the Newsstand differential and has info from Chuck from Mile High Comics. Lastly, I hyperlinked the Monthly Sales page for August 2004 to show the assessed order of Spawn #137 which supports my statistics above. I'm begging you all as a true fan and collector of these books... do them justice. Sources: SpawnWorld, WordPress Article on Newsstand Editions, Comichron - Spawn 137

What’s for Sale? Only one comic today- Mystery Men Comics #30. Who can buy? No selling to those on the probation list. Payment: Prefer check but will accept PayPal. Returns: No returns on CGC books. Shipping: Free shipping within the U.S. Will be sent Priority Mail. Shipping costs to Canada will be the difference in the cost for U.S. shipping and the difference will be paid by the buyer. Winning: First unconditional “I’ll Take It” in the thread gets it. Time stamp rules if multiple “I’ll Take It”s. An “I’ll Take It” in the thread trumps any PM negotiations until the post has been updated as “Taken via PM”. Mystery Men Comics #30 (CGC 3.0 with off-white pages) $3685: SOLD! An extremely rare CGC Mystery Men Comics #30 is offered for sale. With only 3 blue labels you don’t have the opportunity to own this comic very often. Even though the book grades a 3.0, the cover presents at least a 5.0, in my opinion. Published in January 1942 this comic has withstood the ravages of time remarkably well. The mesmerizing cover was created by Roland Patenaude. His signature, as “Pat”, can be seen on the woman’s arm. GGA at its finest! Thanks for looking.

Here the terms. US only sale. Shipping included in price (USPS Priority Mail). No returns. Payment by paypal only. First in thread gets the book and takes precedence over PM. Note, I bought the book raw believing to be unrestored and here we are. I am selling at a loss at this price so I don't have too much wiggle room. If you collect Beetle this is tough book with only 11 in the census and I think one of the better covers outside of the early Lou Fine work. Restoration includes: color touch, piece added. Light Tan to Off-White Pages. $325
