Jan 8th Clifton Comic Book Expo-Alternate Venue! IMPORTANT NEWS ABOUT OUR WINTER CLIFTON COMIC BOOK EXPOS! The state of NJ requires every municipality to set aside a building for the homeless as a warming center when the temperature drops below freezing. The only building the city owns that is available every day is the Community Recreation Center that we have held our monthly show in for over 30 years. It is supposed to be a brutal winter, the safety of those less fortunate than ourselves takes precedence over selling "funny books" and there is no way to predict the weather far enough in advance for us to be able to use the space, so from January to March, we will not be able to... BUT!!! Since our show has become iconic to the city and the area, the Department of Recreation has arranged an alternate location for us for those three months (only). 1/8, 2/12 & 3/12. We will be at : The Clifton Early Learning Academy 290 Brighton Rd, Clifton 07012 Admission still $5. It is on the other side of town but offers a gymnasium space larger then the Rec Center and a large parking lot. Our hours will be slightly different: Dealer load-in begins at 7:15 and the room must be cleared by 4:00 (the tables need to be sent back to the Rec Center) Show hours are 10:00 to 3:00 FOR THE SECURITY OF OUR VENDORS WHO WILL BE SETTING UP IN AN UNFAMILIAR SPACE, THERE WILL ABSOLUTELY NOT BE ANY EARLYBIRD ADMISSION UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN PERSONALLY INVITED BY JP! Our 2nd show is Aug 20th after our first one in May. 18 dealers with 36 tables of comics and related items. Free Admission and Free Parking. I will be marketing to larger cities this time around. Last show was 300 to 400 estimated so I would like to get the numbers higher. See flyer below as well as Facebook page for show. Second annual comic-centric Westcoast Comic Con at the fully renovated Croatian Cultural Centre in beautiful Vancouver, BC. A wait-list has been started for vintage comic book and toy dealer's tables and artist alley, as we are currently sold out. Independent press guests include comic book artists Robin Thompson, Miguel Molina, writer/artist and inker Randy Stone, writer John Ward, and other local creators. General admission is $10. Kid(s) under 12 are FREE admission with at least 1 paying adult admission. FREE parking at 3250 Commercial Drive, Vancouver, BC. I'm pursuing a Bronze Age comic book, an Annual issue - which means it has a box spine. I'm one of those collectors who avoids comics if the cover is rotated or shifted, showing the white edge on the spine when it shifts to the right, or where the comic words or price get cut-off when it shifts to the left. Almost all of the Annual issues I look at have some form of shifting. I'm prepared now to buy one with minimal rotating/shifting. However, I've discovered that if the cover is shifted, the pages on the inside also follow. I've seen some where a portion of the story gets cutoff. I see CGC doesn't appear to grade down the "box" issues when the cover is shifted. However, if an internal pages is shifted enough to cut into the edge of story, does that lower the grade of the comic? Thanks for your time. -
