Hello all, So I am new, or better well said returning to collecting comics. Part of me wants to do it to make some money, but most of me wants to do it for the thrill, admiration and (many other words for truly liking the art) of the comic books and the talented artists. That said, my question is simple. Is it financially worth purchasing a comic that is signed? Or is it wiser (financially speaking) to purchase a good copy, then get it signed in a manner where I can then get it submitted to CGC for their signature series service? I have a Batman 608 that is signed by Lee. I got it at a good price, but now I can’t get it on the SS series, right? Advice, guidance, thoughts, feelings are all accepted and would be both greatly appreciated and encouraged. Your fellow Collector, Marc

yu-gi-oh! Issues Submitting Yu-Gi-Oh Card for Grading
Guinngar posted a topic in Ask CGC Trading Cards
Good Evening, I am trying to submit my Yu-Gi-Oh! 2006 Toon Dark Magician Girl SP2-EN002 Participation Promo Limited Edition (Limited Ed) Ultra Rare | Worldwide English card, but every time I select the card, the "Add Trading Card" button stays greyed out. Does anybody know why this is? As far as I know, CGC grades English Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, so I do not understand why the submission form is not letting me add the card. If anybody has an answer as to why this is, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks.- 2 replies

I am considering buying an SGC 10 Feraligatr 5/111 1st edition Neo Genesis, but SGC isn't my favorite grading company ever. Does CGC allow crossover from SGC? Or do I have to crack the slab and then submit the card?

I own Quadrant #1 by Peter Hsu in mint condition without creases, a clean, white cover, sharp corners and staples and pages intact. The only perceptible flaw is a 2mm tear along the right edge of the cover. Because the margins of the cover are white, you don't notice this 2mm tear until you hold the book to the light. This book has always been in a bag since 1983. I have been studying the CGC grading system and I'm no stranger to grading, but I don't know how to grade this book. I know that tears detract from a grade, but also overall presentation counts. Can anyone offer advice? Please see photos: a shot of the full cover, and a close-up of the area around the tear (look for a small greyish area about a third down from the top for the tear). Thank you.

Please forgive me if this question has already been asked and answered on these boards, I searched for it, but didn't find any info. How do we go about requesting that CGC adds a "Key Comment" to a book that we submit for grading? I want to submit my copy of World's Finest Comics #30, which happens to be the 1st appearance of the "Batcave's Giant Penny", and I would like that noted in the label when it comes back. CGC copies of this book do not appear to show that designation. Any help would be super appreciated!!! Thanks in advance.

Hello there! I've never sent anything for grading, but I planned it in the near future. I just got a kenobi 1:25 variant, it's brand new, but the rear cover has this color defect (also the top left corner is bended / creased a bit, whatever). Everything else looks perfect to me. Is it worth to send it for grading, or will these defects drop it way below 9.6? Thank you!

hi guys So 10 months ago i sent two ASM 361's to be signed and Marc Bagley and pressed at CGC. After about 3 months of checking to see if my comics where received by CGC i decided to email and ask as using my order number/tracking number wasn't producing any results, after speaking via email to a customer service agent they assured my my package had been received and was in processing. so I left it for a good couple of months and kept using my order code to see if there where any updates again nothing came up on my members page but knowing how busy CGC has been I decided to just let the process happen and hope they were getting on with it. Fast forward to now and I emailed to ask where my comics are up too (still no update on the website) to be to told that submission has not been processed? which im not quite sure what that means? and now since then I've been ignored by the customer service person on email and have been left on read on the CGC Facebook chat im just trying to see where my comics are up too and if there even in possession of the comics? sorry in advance if I've asked this question on the wrong topic/board Thanks in advance for any help!!

I am curious if the centering grades apply equally to the front and back of the card. Most grading companies are less critical of the back of the card, but your grading criteria does not specify a difference. Some clarity would be appreciated.

Hi all, I recently submitted my first CGC verified signing via R.I. Comic Con. I went through 3rd party vendor “Captured Collectibles” for the processing. It’s been almost a month now and was wondering if anyone might be able to tell me how I can track or find out my submission status on this?…C.G.C. has yet to email me a tracking number so I wasn’t sure if they even received/processed this yet or if I am supposed contact “Captured Collectibles” for this info?….I already emailed them and waiting for a response though I figured I’d try to get some insight via C.G.C. as well….please and thank you.

As a Whilce Portico / Punisher / Daredevil copper age fan I was long overdue to add a Punisher vol 2 #10 to my PC. There was a copy available on eBay down here for a long time which was in good shape, apart from a small but annoying mark which looked like a +4 written in the middle of the front cover. D&D scribble maybe On close inspection of the photos it looked like it might be pencil rather than indelible ink. So after getting it for a good best offer price I set about cleaning it today. See the results in the photos below.... What if it tears the paper, ruins the gloss and causes a larger permanent smudge.... Yes, it worked! By lightly rubbing the writing with a clean quality eraser I was able to remove it completely. After that I carefully brushed away the rubber crumbs. What impact does removing such a mark have on it's grade? What easy cleaning techniques do you know?

If HALO grading is considering itself in the same lane as CGC and CBCS then where can I find a census? If I visit GoCollect I see CGC and CBCS (not much updates of CBCS census) but I don’t see HALO and I don’t see PGX. CGC and CBCS have their census on their website, different like population report vs Census but you get the jist. I live in Australia so HALO is the local but it’s now in the USA also. A question for another time is when CGC is going to be in Australia? So…Anyway where’s HALO and PGX Census data for the books they’ve graded? EXCELSIOR… 815K1

So I'm not super new to this. I understand people don't always get the grades they want. I usually do well getting my 9.8s but this time I got some 9.6s and a couple 9.4s all good. That's on me. But can you guys help me find a flaw that would make this a 9.4?? I can't find anything that would warrant that big of a drop. Maybe a 9.6 on this but please let me know if I'm missing something. Cgc customer service told me to share it here because if I send it in it may come back lower than 9.4 🤣 If this comes back lower than 9.4 than I pretty much know nothing about comics LOL.

Who else is getting the shaft lately? Not only did my cards get sent in over 6 months ago, extended grading periods 3x, and been sitting in grading/capsulation/finalizing for over 2 weeks! I am getting absolutely no customer service emails and haven't for 3 messages all about 1 to 2 months apart. This is not right and I will be grading at sgc only. They had my cards back in 9 business days for a 25-30 business day approximately Not once but twice!!! I'm over cgc what happened I paid $250 and did two submissions I got one back but still waiting for the second. My subscription is over in a couple months has well and seriously not even two submissions done. Screw that.

Let say a person wants to have a high value high grade comic that could grade 9.8 or higher. If this comic were to be opened to inspect the interior of the book would surely cause spine damage even if the grader was extremely careful i think damage would happen especially if the book was old. You never know what could happen when the comic is opened. Is there a way the graders go about inspecting the interior without opening the book? Can someone explain this to me? Thanks !

I have a copy of "The Amazing Spider-Man" issue 365. It has now flaws anywhere except for inside the book where it has printing gripping holes on several pages. Does CGC deduct for this, and if so how much? I'm new to all of this and don't want to submit it if they'll only give me an 8 or 8.5. Thanks

So I need help. Skottie Young is having his CGC in house signing. I'm sending in my Strange Academy 3 Alex Ross Doctor Strange cover variant. So when Skottie signs it and it come back graded already, and then if I see Alex Ross is at a con or doing an in-house signing, how does that work? Would I bring/send in the slab and a CGC rep cracks it? And will the label still have the original signature dates on them? Thanks for the help everyone!

I just saw this book sell on Heritage and I was very surprised by the grade. It has a detached centerfold but got an 8.5 universal label. My understanding has been that a 7.0 is the highest grade a book with a detached centerfold can achieve. Is it possible this should have been a green label? Or have others seen a detached centerfold receive a grade this high? The book looks nice, but when you zoom in, it appears there's a small tear on the bottom edge below the "old witch" and there are a few spine ticks/etc.

I've been collecting for a few years now. I wouldn't say I'm the most knowledgeable individual when it comes to comic books, but I do know that not having the cover significantly decreases value. Is it worth submitting some of my more valuable coverless comics to be graded? I have first issues that are coverless, even a 1.5 is worth over $100 on some with cover. Thoughts? Thanks guys! Here are a couple examples I had right in front of me.

I was wondering how long it takes for the status of "received" to "grading" for an express CGC trading card submission. My status was updated to received on 3/23/21 and today is 4/7/21 now. I haven't seen any movement or update from CGC. This is my first time submitting to CGC so I am unsure if this was normal. I was confused since I submitted an express order. Anyone got any info on this?

So from what I can gather you must submit 50+ cards for the $9 per card bulk service. Then the next two kind of depend on how quick you want it done, either being $15 a card for the 108 days and $25 a card for the express (30 day)? I understand those times are just estimates. So is there a limit to card amount if you would like the standard service? I did not see any, only the card value maximums, and off course the other fees like I saw a $5 shipping or something, and then cards that are not on the slip 2 bucks or whatever. Just wanted to be sure that the standard $15 a card does not have a 10 or 20 min. Another question is if they have any service or accept factory sealed single promos, like the old WOTC promos from the movies, games and other events. I know PSA started accepting those (and even packs), however I believe Beckette will not, and did not see anything on this site. Thanks for any clarification.

Now this is an added touch for CSG. The fact the company wants to interact with customers is a plus. sent my first two submission to test the waters (15+10) level. One submission was 5 cards snd the other 6. They arrived safely and am looking forward to tracking them when out into the system. My next submission will be larger as picture shows I also look forward to using CGC, yes son love Pokémon and we opened lots of 1st Edition Team Rocket, but did not play the game.

Hello! I am going to send 400 Pokemon cards from Norway to get graded in USA. The return shipment will be with FedEx, and i am wondering if i have to pay any VAT, Customs or duty when the product enters my country. The total grading cost was 4227$, (including shipping that was 730$) and i just don't have the money to pay 25% of that in VAT. Please answer
