About Me

  1. Greetings, I've found myself in a collector's niche recently, focusing on Topps Comics. Topps began publishing and distributing comics in the early 1990s, the decade I grew up in, some of my first comics were Topps Comics, specifically issues of the Jurassic Park (1993) adaptation. I've googled Topps Comics a few times and have found some interesting odds and ends in various dollar bins over the last few years. Topps Comics is the epitome on 90s comics, many of them came sealed in polybags with posters or trading cards (Bram Stoker's Dracula), many of their titles were television or movie adaptations (X-Files, Zena: Warrior Princess) and there were also plenty of #0's and foil logo editions. I've also discovered a few other series like Cadillacs and Dinosaurs and various titles from industry legend Jack Kirby. I've also seen a few familiar names on various Topps books like writer Roy Thomas, artists Adam Hughes (Zorro) Gil Kane, Todd McFarlane and Mike Mignola. From ComicVine: https://comicvine.gamespot.com/topps-comics/4010-519/ "Topps Company Incorporated announced the formation of Topps Comics in March 1992. The company produced books until 1998 taking advantage of a short comics industry boom that attracted many investors and around 9 other new companies were formed in the same time period. The market experienced an increase in comic book market speculation that created inflated sales and the market eventually collapsed taking Topps Comics down with it in 1998. The company's president was Jim Salicrup (born: May 29, 1957) who started his career at Marvel where he started out as a messenger. In twenty years he worked his way up to editor and in 1992 he became the editor-in-chief of the newly formed Topps Comics until it's demise in 1998." Let's see your Topps Comics!
  2. Since I couldn't find a properly placed Eternals thread I thought I would start one since the heat is on and people are loading up on early issues. I wanted to provide some guidance on the key issues so folks can be somewhat educated before just looking for issue #1 & 2 and point out some very important observations. If you actually read these books issue 1 is about the discovery and isn't that great of a book. Issue two has a cameo of a celestial at best (should not be full first appearance). It really starts to get good by issue 5 which contains the fist appearance of several popular and key eternal characters. For clarity, there have been three primary leaders for the eternals over the years and noted below. Ikaris was the first chronological character to appear but Zuras, Sprite and Ikaris were the first (transformed by the Celestials). Thena, Ajak, Druig, and Sersi were active before the Second Host. I have listed # of appearances in Earth 616, to show the significance and staying power of the characters over the comic series and beyond just the Eternals as these characters appeared in other books over the years (some more frequent then others). Revised chart further down in first page of thread (leaving original here for prosperity's sake) Issue Character 1st appearances # of appearances to date Eternals #1 (30 Cent Variant) Eternals: Ikaris (Prime One Leader) 115 Deviants: Kro 67 Eternals #2 (30 Cent Variant) Eternals: Ajak 48 Celestials: Arishem the Judge (in Cameo) 51 Eternals #3 Eternals: Sersi 249 Eternals #4 Celestials: Gammenon the Gatherer 34 Eternals #5 Eternals: Makkari 141 Eternals: Thena (Prime One Leader) 106 Eternals: Zuras (Prime One Leader) 67 Eternals: Domo 13 Eternals #7 Celestials: Jemiah the Analyzer 14 Celestials: Tefral the Surveyor 18 Celestials: One Above All 25 Eternals #8 Ransak the Reject 46 Karkas 48 Eternals #9 Eternals: Sprite 34 Celestials: Eson the Searcher 27 Celestials: Nezarr the Calculator 23 Celestials: Hargen the Measurer 15 Celestials: Oneg the Prober 22 Eternals #11 Eternals: Kingo Sunen 20 Eternals: Druig 33 Eternals: Valkin 20 Eternals #12 (35 Cent Variant) Eternals: Uni-Mind 19 Eternals #13 (35 Cent Variant) Eternals: Gilgamesh (The Forgotten One) 78 Eternals #18 Celestials: Ziran the Tester 44 Eternals Vol 2 1985 #1 Phastos 34

  4. $500 takes the whole lot (that's LESS THAN $10 PER BOOK): 55 books in 3 banker boxes. Great for someone looking for a one-stop instant collection of Silver Age Marvel, DC & Tower Thunder Agents in Hardcover form, or for a reseller. Local meet/handoff in Los Angeles/San Fernando Valley area preferred. Otherwise buyer assumes shipping costs (which I would need to investigate: these books are HEAVY so shipping cost might outweigh the benefit). If only interested in the Marvel package, 29 books for $300 (several are original "marble" covers, including some first printings; (e.g., Captain America 1990 edition; Iron Man 1992 edition); if only the DC + Tower package, 26 books for $250. GREAT CONDITION: Most are NEAR MINT/LIKE NEW, unread except for reference. A few may be F/VF due to minor shelf wear or minor tears on dust jacket (usually on the spine, visible in attached photos). All have original dust jackets. From a smoke-free home: they smell terrific! SOLD AS IS, no returns. PAYPAL only. I'm not clear if any of the Marvels are the collectible so-called variant editions. If you have any questions about individual volumes, ask. See photos for volume numbers etc but listed here are the CONTENTS of the runs: FANTASTIC FOUR: Issues #1-81, including Annuals up to #6 AVENGERS #1-30 X-MEN (silver age): #1-21 X-MEN (bronze age): Giant Size #1, #94-120 THOR: JIM #83-120, Annual #1 ASM: AF#15, #1-40 + Annuals 1 & 2 DR. 5. Today, February 19th is Nostalgic Investments Comic Art’s NEW ART FRIDAYS! Featured Artists: Sal Buscema Bernie Wrightson Jack Kirby Featured Page: Michael Turner Witchblade Illustration (Very Early) by Michael Turner This piece is very special. Witchblade #1 made its debut in November 1995 and was so popular that Pittsburg Comic Con invited Michael to attend their 1996 show. On a big piece of foam core the show promoter had a number of artists draw the characters they were best known for. Years later, this piece was cut out from the rest of the board in order for it to stand alone as a magnificent, and very early, image of Witchblade. NEW ART FRIDAYS! 9. Hello all, First time posting here I was just looking for a bit of help. I picked up X-Men Among Us Stalk..... The SENTINELS for $2.00 at a local ma and pa shop. I didn't realize when I bought it but when I got home it has a symbol in the center of the "X" its kinda like a circle with a V. Is there any way someone may be able to help me identify this? Its possible it could just chicken scratch from a kid. It just looks very deliberate and distinct. Any info would be greatly appreciated. My phone takes pictures like a potato so quality is junk.

    New Gods Kirby Run

Alright, Alright, Alright! Managed to score a number 4 of New Gods at 9.0 for a good price, under $50. I do not have a raw copy of this issue or even a beat up copy. Good thing I have the black and white trade copy from several years ago. So far I have two slabbed New Gods issues from Jack Kirby's original run. Debating whether to get the "Return of" issues and in no rush. I do have a couple of raw issues of the Forever People from the same time but no slabs. That will change soon. Here is a question: why was there never a crossover with OMAC and the New Gods? This would have been an idea to see where it would go. Update: 01/12/18 I am about half way with my New Gods Kirby run. Have decided to send in my raw books. Not sure about a third raw book but I love the series and will get it slabbed. There are some readable copies I do have on hand somewhere. Did not realize there were at least three copies of #9 in my possession along with a #7. I will find more as I look back through my collection. And my OMAC run is slowly closing on the gaps. May find my John Byrne OMACs and get them slabbed as well. That is for a later time. Update: 04/12/18 I have a New Gods 1 graded at 8.0. I am pleased but hoping for a 9.0. 8.0 is good.I have a number 8 graded at 6.0. The seller I bought it from neglected to tell me about water stain on the back inside page. Live and learn. I a couple of issues of 7 that I will look over to see which on is the best to send. That is later this month.
  13. Good morning, everybody. ...some pages coming up. Heck Avengers, Sal Buscema Avengers, Colan Daredevil, a Ditko Speedball, maybe some Kirby and maybe a Dave Cockrum Uncanny X-Men. stay tuned!
  14. I've got digital and physical copies of 250 designs by Jack Kirby done for Hanna Barbera shows in the late 70s. I bought them from Dave Karlen, who bought them from an animator who worked with Kirby and Hanna Barbera. Some of them are from the Super Friends show and have Batman and Superman, most are from other 70s shows like Space Ghost, Teen Force, Space Stars and even Scooby Doo and the Lord of the Rings animated movie. The designs get pretty crazy, and if the reason Kirby left Marvel was over Kirby wanting to be more creative, this is Kirby unleashed. A few of these pages can be found on the internet in various places, but 80% of the pages I've got haven't been seen by the public. They haven't been published in a book, either, to my knowledge. Since I'm in Australia and postage for 250 pages would be expensive (like it was the other way around), I can sell a link to a downloadable zip file containing the 250 1-2 MB photos for PayPal funds. We can discuss the price. Alternatively, if multiple people want to split a price I can post a link here for everyone. If you're interested send me a PM and we can work something out. Some examples:

  21. Update on 'SKY MASTERS SUNDAYS IN COLOR ENGLISH EDITION' which contains a large section of original art: The book is RESOLICITED, so previous orders are CANCELED, I apologize for any inconvenience. It'll be included in the JUNE Previews catalog and it'll hit the stores in AUGUST, this time with no delays since it's already printed. But you don't need to wait, since you can order it NOW from me, and you'll received it in a couple of weeks. Postage to USA from Spain is just $20 thanks to the collaboration of the Kirby Museum. A cheaper option of shipping it now from Spain to US and Canada is via boat. It'd cost $10, and it'd take about two months to arrive, non traceable. It'd arrive circa mid-june, two months before the official release date. More details and instructions how to order here: https://ferrandelgado.blogspot.com.es/2018/04/sky-masters-in-color-english-edition.html Unboxing video here (poor quality): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOEPpTzgGnE PROMOTIONAL COPY:
