I've been on a tear of good luck with some buys lately and need to sell some stuff to fund the purchases. Hate to let this one go as I'd recently upgraded but planned to hang onto this for a few years as the price has yet to catch up with its significance. A hot book that is finally getting the recognition it deserves as the start point for the Bronze Age in Gotham and the beginning of the epic Adams/O'Neil run: Detective 395! A really nice copy for the grade, super-sharp wrap that runs perfectly along the spine which is tough on this issue and really just some edge wear around the perimeter and on the corners of this sensitive black cover. The spine is crisp and I really only see one or two very minor tics along the edge (non-color breaking). Surprised it got the Ow-W designation as the colors on the front are brilliant (color balance in my photo is a bit off and makes the reds a little orangey, it's much nicer in-hand) and the white word balloons show virtually no indication of aging. I've been very satisfied with this copy and had hoped to hang onto it for many years even with the upgrade as I'm sure this is going to appreciate nicely over the years. With my luck the next Batman movie will be "The Secret of the Waiting Graves". Not sure if it's been pressed or not as I'm not the original submitter, so just assume it has or turned a blind eye. Sorry for the garbage pic of the back, didn't take any back photos when I photographed my collection so just wanted to get something up for adequate representation. It's been awhile since my last Journal post. My last post was made May 22, 2015. This is my first journal post under the new format, I haven't decided if I like it or not. It's alot easier to use that's for sure, It reminds of the dashboard in WordPress. I've been collecting on & off over the last 3 years, Meeting media guests on cons & still getting signatures from my favorite artists & writers. Everyone collects differently & I'm a signature kinda guy ( For the most part ). I've changed my screen name to something that made more sense for me. Going forward I've decided I want to be a more focused collector, Putting books into the collection that I "Really" like or love. I just recently started to put books into the CGC Registry again. In May of 2015 I finally got to meet Neal Adams for the first time. He is probably one of my favorite artists of all time. The experience was education for the first time I felt he was kinda stand standoffish, But I got used to it since I've now met him on more than one occasion. I had him sign my copy of Green Lantern #87 that I bought at my LCS in the mid 90's. Thanks for reading & Happy collecting & have a great 2018!!

So i have a few questions... I have a beat up copy of Batman #251 (my favorite cover) which is probably in 2.5 to 3.5 condition. So my 1st question is, should I spend the money to get it graded? Second question, if I wanted to upgrade my copy, how much would I be spending (on average) for a 7.5 or 8.0 graded Batman 251? Third & last question, does anyone have any for sale? If so, how much? Continuing on for the theme of the week, let's set the time machine forward a few years to April of 1969 to see both the end of one era, and the dawn of another. The end of the Silver Age is a hard one to pin down, and there's a ton of debate to be had. I, myself, like to keep things simple and generally assume that the end of the 12¢ books also ends the Silver Age, and this is the month that it happened. I sorted the books by release date, so you'll see that it starts with 10¢ books and ends with the 12¢ books. Aside from Adventure Comics #381, which features the debut issue of the solo Supergirl stories, there is no real tonal shift per se. It was more of a gradual shift as the civil rights movement started to shift the consciousness of the country forward. We do get a great month of Neal Adams covers though! Superboy #157 features another in the all time favorite "people vs. Superman" theme. Superman and Batman duel it out gladiator-style in World's Finest Comics #185. While not one of his most iconic covers, he gets the honor of doing Supergirl's first issue from her headlining run in Adventure Comics. He's also credited with inking the Curt Swan cover for Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #120, but I'll be darned if I can see any of Curt left in the final project. Superman #217 is a giant-size issue, featuring a great load of reprints with the first appearances of Brainiac, Metallo, Lori Lemaris, the pre-Kara Supergirl, and of course...Mala! Four Neal Adams covers and a bunch of classic reprints? I call that a win!
