About Me

  1. Scottsdale Comic Book & Comic Art Show November 18th - new location! aka: Old-Man-Con or Old-Man-Con tickets Scottsdale Comic Book & Comic Art Show Officially now: www.Old-Man-Con.com
  2. Today, August 25th, is Nostalgic Investments’ Comic Art NEW ART FRIDAYS! Featured Artists: Jack Kirby Alex Toth Jerry Bingham Featured Page: Ghost Rider #31 Cover (Signed) by Frank Robbins This is truly one of the best covers in the Ghost Rider run. Just take a look at the cover. Ghost Rider is ablaze and being chased by a great villain, the Bounty Hunter. Even the Black Cat on the cover is a great touch. Having Bob Layton as the inker puts it over the top. NEW ART FRIDAYS update this week includes art from Sol Brodsky, Frank Robbins, Jerry Bingham, Jack Kirby, Don Perlin, Win Mortimer, Andy Kubert, Alex Toth, Scott Eaton, and Bob Brown! Rawhide Kid #47 p24 (Large Art) (Splash) by Sol Brodsky Ghost Rider #31 Cover (Signed) by Frank Robbins Batman: Son of the Demon p57 by Jerry Bingham Captain Victory #4 p2 (½ Splash) by Jack Kirby Ghost Rider #31 p28 by Don Perlin Adventure Comics #381 p5 (First Supergirl) by Win Mortimer Avengers #334 p18 (Signed) by Andy Kubert Four Color - The Land of Unknown #845 p18 (Large Art, Signed) by Alex Toth Star Masters #2 p23 by Scott Eaton Superboy #167 p7 by Bob Brown See all these New Art Fridays pages at www.nostalgicinvestments.com/fridays and hundreds of comic art pages at www.nostalgicinvestments.com/comic-art Payment plans and trades are always available.
  3. Today, April 7th, is Nostalgic Investments’ Comic Art NEW ART FRIDAYS! Featured Artists: John Byrne Mike Mignola Jim Lee Featured Page: Avengers #5 p12 (Large Art) by Jack Kirby I was very reticent about putting this up for sale on the website.Such an early Avengers page will never be this affordable again to obtain. Since Issue 4 has never been discovered this is the earliest Captain America appearance from the Silver Age. A page from Issue 4 would sell from the low to high 6 figures. There are not many pages from issue 5 that have Cap on them. NEW ART FRIDAYS update this week includes art from Jack Kirby, Keu Cha, Jim Lee, Al Milgrom, Mike Mignola, John Byrne, and Ric Estrada! 16. Greetings! Philippe Labaune Gallery, located in NYC, is thrilled to exhibit *original artwork* by Dave McKean from the making of his graphic novel Black Dog: The Dreams of Paul Nash. Typical in McKean fashion, we are showcasing pages that highlight his diverse style of collage, drawing, and painting. Attached are several examples of work that are available for sale. If interested in any works please let us know. The scans we have of his work truly do no justice!!! We would be happy to send you images of the work as they are installed in the gallery, with detail shots of his fantastic work. Some of these "pages" are big! It is a rare opportunity to see the detail, depth, and variety of materials McKean utilized for this graphic novel, details that are not lost in the reproduction process. Below are several examples of the work currently on exhibition, now until August 14th.
  17. Today, May 10th, is Nostalgic Investments Comic Art’s SPOTLIGHT MONDAYS! SPOTLIGHT MONDAYS! - Every Monday we will spotlight a special piece of art for your collecting pleasure. This Week: Captain America spread by Kirby Captain America #199 p2-3 (Spread)(Signed) by Jack Kirby There aren’t many things better in our collectible than a Jack Kirby double page spread. This Cap and Falcon spread is wall to wall action. Cap may very well be the single greatest character that Kirby ever created. Captain America and Kirby traversed from the Golden Age of comics (1941) to the Silver Age (1960’s) to 1976 when Kirby came back to Marvel and drew Captain America issue 193. These Kirby double page spreads are nearly impossible to find, especially one featuring Cap, and the now exceedingly popular Falcon. 25. Today, March 12th, is Nostalgic Investments’ Comic Art NEW ART FRIDAYS! Featured Artists: Bernie Wrightson Rich Buckler Jack Kirby Featured Page: New Gods Poster Orion vs Darkseid (Kirby Pencil Version-Large Art) This piece is tremendously important. First, let me explain what it actually is. This piece is the cover, it was light boxed and then Royer inked the light boxed portion of it. Kirby then added more images around it. Shown underneath the original art is the finished poster. The poster hung in comic stores, which were plentiful at the time, and is the most recognizable advertising for the Fourth World. In 1984 DC was bringing back the New Gods. This has the two most important characters from the Fourth World: Orion and Darkseid. They are finally facing off, and with Kirby pencils no less! It’s a huge piece, by the way. Ava DuVernay is directing the upcoming movie, DC's New Gods. She’s one of the hot new directors in Hollywood. I just read an article in Batman-News.com and this scene from this poster was used to talk about the upcoming movie project. NEW ART FRIDAYS! update this week includes art from Jack Kirby, Sal Buscema, Frank Robbins, Irv Novick, Rich Buckler, Bernie Wrightson, Adam Brown, Don Heck, Charlie Adlard and Herb Trimpe!
