Any Spider-fans looking for some great looking actual production pages of a Spider-Man comic? For Sale: The original color guides for John Byrne Spider-Man: Chapter One #0 Complete 8-page Story "I am the Living Sandman" Original Art (Marvel, 1999). Writer, penciler, inker, and letterer, John Byrne, tells the origin of Flint Marko, a.k.a. Sandman, in this complete eight-page story. Guides are copies of the original inked/lettered art which have been painted on by the books colorist Christie Scheele. Each page is 8.5x11 inches in size total. Features some great panels, including a perfect first page splash as well as the quintessential nuclear test explosion that gave him his powers. Fun trivia, but the art in this origin references another old Marvel book, Journey into Mystery #70, which is regarded as the original 'Sandman Prototype' that predates this character - they used the design of that original prototype here as Flint Marko's very first form he takes to fight off some scientists. You rarely see full story sets of such production art come up for sale, as most are split up into separate sales - making this set excellent for display. The original line art for this story sold way back in 2011 for $1,920usd, so this is the next best thing for a fraction of the cost. OFF TO EBAY LATER

I realize that this one photo is not enough, but that's part of the question I have. I'm a 100% nubie, and I'm afraid to take this out of it's case. I think this could be worth over $1k if it's 9.8 grade or above, but I'm also seeing that the slightest damage could lower it's worth by hundreds of dollars. There's a story behind this. I bought each of the Sandman comics in 1989 as they were published. I loved them. Then in 1991, when I was home from college, I spread out all my comic books on a ping pong table in our family's basement, and one of my brother's "friends" stole my first few issues. I loved those comics so much, that I went out an bought replacements --- paying $15 for the first issue, which for me at the time was a lot of money. It was a hard purchase to make! I bought it from the comic store and never opened it. It's never been read, or even taken out of it's bag. I look at it now and it looks like it's in perfect condition. Even the corners are sharp. Could its grade be above 9.8, maybe 9.9? Should I even take it out of the bag to find out?

The Books Silver, Gold and Pulp Awesomeness General Rules No PL/HOS members The new board software does not display precise thread post times (either in PMs or in sales threads), which can result in the inability to determine whether a PM post or thread post came first. One thing remains certain - it is easy to tell whether one post in a thread came before another post in the same thread. So, the first "take it" posted in the sales thread wins. If we reach a deal via PM, I'll mark books SOLD in the thread as soon as reasonably possible - but if someone else takes the book in the thread before your PM take is acknowledged in the thread (by either you or I), the thread poster is the winner, I'm afraid; so, there is some risk of losing a book if you try to remain anonymous via PM. (Credit to EC Ed for these rules. I have adapted them with his permission) I kindly ask that you not Quote a book and then make a comment. It makes the book appear to be sold. Payment I'll take PayPal for total sales under $1000 if PayPal is your preferred method. Personal checks, or USPS money orders for total sales $1000 or higher. When the thread is over an invoice will be sent with PayPal address. I'll expect payment within 10 calendar days of invoice, or the book will be available for sale again (unless we've made other payment arrangements) Time payments are available for purchases of $2500 or more with 20% non-refundable deposit and installment payments so purchase is paid in full no later than 90 days and up to 120 days can be available for $10,000 or more (please PM first).
