Action Comics #29 (1940) CGC 3.5 "1st" Lois Lane cover. The colors on this copy are very impressive, still deep and vibrant, making it excellent to display. Case is in excellent condition, with no blemishes/scratches/cracks. This is a rarer CHECKING COPY. Checking copies were intended for the editors or "checkers" of ad copy, in order to make sure all ad copy & placement was correct. Checking copies would often have check marks in pencil on each ad throughout the book when confirming that they were correct by staff/advertisers. They would also often have a CHECKING COPY stamp on the cover indicating it as such (This copy has the stamp; see picture of front cover), and used in the actual process of manufacturing the issue before it was fully printed and sent for sale - Checking copies are often regarded as TRUE first prints of a book as they would have been mean before the complete print run was done to make sure everything was correct first. Checking copies were never meant for sale or circulation, only for the manufacturing process as a form of quality control. Rare one found in a two-pack from Toys 'R Us. The other issue from the pack ended up coming back 9.8 but this one seems to have a few noticeable defects. Curious what other people think.

For sale are a varied lot of comics I had in my closet in a box;) There are 1st appearances, and not so first appearances;) some decent grades, some not so decent grades (readers;) Marvel's, DCs, Stars, I think a few Gold Keys bronze to Gold about 65 books total. First appearances, 1st Godzilla and Mothra in comics 1st Winnie the Pooh, 1st Heathcliff 1st Time Keepers etc etc Prices should be very competitive. To the best of my knowledge, none of the books have been pressed. I'd be pretty shocked if any were;) Shipping is $10 flat rate in the U.S. for as many as you purchase. I will use Parcel Select Ground Cubic (boxed), if it's less than $10, I will refund the difference, but I suspect it will be more. Out of the U.S. I will charge exact shipping. I accept Checks, MO's, PP or Zelle Pay. HI, all: I've got some more exciting pages consigned to Heritage this week, with all auctions ending Wed, Mar 15th. But first, a few announcements: 1. I don't have any more Kieron Dwyer Batman pages. This weeks' page featuring Batman, Jason Todd, and the 1st appearance of Yoshio Tahara is the last one. Hopefully those who wanted a page from this issue were able to pick one up over the past 5 weeks. If you haven't, this is your last chance to do so 2. Folks like pages with Batman, Superman and Green Arrow, and they like Leonardi artwork, but for whatever reason, they don't seem to like Leonardi Batman, Superman and Green Arrow pages because they've been selling for less than I paid for them. So, I've decided to stop the bleeding and this will be the last week I'm offering a Leonardi DCUniverse: Decsions page for sale. 3. I've added a Spidey limited print, hand signed by Romita Jr (penciller), Romita Sr (inker), and Paul Mounts (colorist). Its a great print, with less than 100 copies to raise funds for the Hero Initiative. Check it out! First time this has occurred to me...it's always that risk of it happening, it had to have occurred after grading cause they sure would not grade it that high if it occurred before the grade process. Oh well it is what it is. Also that is why you always scan your covers before sending them out to any grading company.... Nice signature matches the color layout of the cover....

Listed two of my bigger purchases over the last year as it seems like my family will have to start looking for a new car soon (current car got its butt kicked in by the massive snow storm that hit Buffalo/Fort Erie). I found a really nice copy of the Death of Superman TPB recently. It was so nice I sent it to CGC! Getting this back in 9.8 was a home run, this will also most likely be my final CGC submission for the year, ending a heck of year for the collection. Today is also the 30th anniversary of the release of Superman #75.

NEWSTIME: The Life and Death of the Man of Steel I’m grateful to finally have this magazine in CGC 9.8, I’ve wanted it for a long time. For years there were only two 9.8s in the census, @Iconic1s has one, and that copy won’t be going anywhere any time soon. I also figured the other 9.8 more than likely wouldn’t come up for sale anytime soon also, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. I purchased five raw copies from the Mile High Comics website in October 2021. After the discount code my order was about $30. Not long after placing my order I thought I should go back and buy more copies, but the price jumped to $40 a pop. All five copies were listed as Near Mint, they arrived safely. I picked out the best two and sent them to CCS for pressing in November 2021. Life went on and finally in September of this year I saw that the books had been marked received by CCG, after another month of waiting I finally got the good news, both copies got the desired 9.8 grade, all thanks to the press work done by CCS. What is this magazine? It’s creative standalone issue released with the Funeral for a Friend (World Without A Superman) issues in early 1993, simulating the fictional Newstime publication, a newsmagazine in the Superman comics continuity of the era (late 80s/early 90s), I’m not sure if it’s still in today’s comics. I found this copy a few years back, it looks really good but it has a few flaw that that keep it out of the 9.8 range, so I get to enjoy it as a nice reader copy. There are a ton of DC Universe references. The coverage and reactions to Superman’s passing. I found this National Whisper insert inside my reader copy, the obituary came with sealed copies of Superman #75. Where were you when you heard Superman died? My coffee table is on fire! -
Doomsday is here! Superman: The Man of Steel #18 (12/92) is the first full appearance of Doomsday, the villain who killed Superman in Superman #75 (1/93). I just had a copy return to me from CGC and I’m pleased with the result. I found this piece last year at my LCS, I already had a graded copy but I couldn’t resist, I coughed up $35 and never looked back. I didn’t take a good picture but I was amazed at the freshness of the book. The book looked like a solid 9.8. I was prepping a submission for pressing at the time, so I decided to include this. I didn’t think it needed a press but since I already had a 9.8 copy and a grading credit with CGC, I decided it was worth the wait and pressing fee to increase the probability of getting the desired grade. I also wanted this book in a current generation CGC holder. Why not send my graded copy in for a ReHolder? Because I also wanted to say that I found the first appearance of Doomsday at my LCS that I then submitted to get a 9.8. I got my first graded copy in 2012 on eBay for $65, I thought then that was a little steep. The FMV is much higher today. Not to over do it but I found another raw copy at my LCS recently. This copy is also very solid, it looks like history could repeat itself. I don’t mind minty fresh multiples.

This is a sales thread for comic-related non-sport trading cards, mostly DC and Marvel, with some odds and ends thrown in. I also have common card sets, as well as extras, but I will only list sets that I want to sell. If anyone is looking for extra commons from a particular set, please PM me. I don't have trading cards graded by anyone, and I'm no expert. I'm much better with comic books, but I've given it the old college try with card grades. The conditions of the cards are estimates only, but feel free to message me with any questions or concerns in regards to listings. I use the current edition of Becket Non-Sport Almanac in order to estimate pricing, as well as eBay. Rules, rules, so many rules!!! No HOSers, no probies, NO EXCEPTIONS!!! Method of payment is personal/cashiers check, money order, PayPal. Paper payment is preferred, but I will accept PayPal until I can close my account with them for good. Shipping for high value cards include a penny sleeve and a card top loader. I will use card binder pages to ship multiple cards instead of top loaders. Using these will allow me to keep them flat between thick pieces of cardboard for extra protection. Any questions or concerns, please let me know. I will ship individual cards in their penny sleeve and top loader in a bubble envelope (or similar) for a nominal fee. Shipping them via Media Mail is technically not an option, since they aren't books. Items will most likely ship via Parcel Select. If more than one card is to be shipped, or a whole set, I will ship Priority with the buyer paying a portion of the cost. I only ship to the 50 United States. Sorry, no international shipping. No returns on products, unless they were damaged in transit. PM me pictures of the damage and we'll work together to find a solution. I will entertain reasonable offers, so please PM me.
