Hi all, Ok, it's time....I will post one book tonight to get this thread rolling, but I plan a thread of Gold and early Silver, between 60-70 books, over the next few nights. I will group them by genre, with round 1 being pre-code romance/GGA. (This will be about 1/3 of the thread). The romance books are mostly pretty sharp and fairly esoteric; it's hard to find many comps so I'm using multiple sources and taking the OSPG with a grain of salt. One book tonight, more beginning around 10 pm EST tomorrow. I will try to do a heads-up post shortly before beginning each round, and I will edit the headline with each new round. The back 2/3 of the thread should have a little something for everyone; Archies, heroes, horror, humor, war, Atlas/Marvel pre-hero, Tom Corbett, etc. Payment is money order or check -- I do not have Paypal. I don't have too many books here, but I thought I'd list them. Shipping is exact. If you are on the East Coast, it's about $10 to ship a slab, Middle of the Country about $12, West Coast $15. I don't charge more than the PO charges me and use regional boxes, whenever it will save money. I accept Paypal, MO's and checks. There will be Golden Age Wonder Woman, LB Cole, plenty of pre-code romance, Betty & Veronica, some tough humor books, a book that is not in Gerber, and some DC silver and bronze, including a boardie cult classic. There will also freebies (low grade but scarce books). First in the thread wins, time stamp rules. Payment is money order or check only. Sorry but I do not have Paypal. No listy sorts. Shipping will be actual, U.S. Only. Usually runs between $4.50 for one book first class up to $13.60 for a medium size priority flat rate box. I use priority mail packages with cardboard sandwiches, or flip 'n ship comics mailers. I will use the most affordable method that allows me to pack securely and includes tracking. For sale today will be about 20 lower grade, Golden Age comics. Some were listed at the VCC, but I don't think too many people saw them. A few might have been listed a while ago. I've discounted the prices on all of them, some quite a bit. U.S. Shipping For any book under $50 (and there are a few) I can ship first class in a cardboard mailer with boards for $3.00, I can fit up to 2 books in the mailer, but I won't be able to add any free stuff and I like to add free stuff;) I really prefer sending the other books boxed, so US Shipping $7-$11 regional A priority boxed for as many as you buy. If you are somewhere near NY, figure $7 or less, if you are in California, figure $11. If you buy something for more than $200 it will be sent signature required, I will pay that cost. If you prefer a flat rate envelope, I do have strong boards, but they take up a lot of space, so I can only fit 2 of these books in safely. FR envelope would be $6 (anywhere in the US) for up to 2 books. I pay for private insurance so that is included and I always use tracking, so that is included too. I'm happy to ship out of the U.S. For exact shipping. Anything over $200 must be mailed with a signature for out of the US. None of these books have been pressed or cleaned. Hi there, i have been working in buying some issues for my collection and I bought this Wonder Woman 15 from 1988 for 3 dlls, when i opened it, i noticed that it has a double cover, so i know it multiplicates its value, but i dont know how much, any guess, or do I really need to send it to CGC to have an estimate?

Low content mode week continues, as we delve deeper into the latest purchases for my collection, through the skewed lens of anagrams. This next book I picked up off of eBay after a fellow boardie tipped me off that this is, in fact, the first use of the Supergirl masthead. From what I could turn up, it does appear that The Brave And The Bold #63 from January 1965 is in fact the first usage. It predates Action Comics #334 from March 1966 by over a year, which I would have guessed previously was the first. All in all, a nice little bit of trivia that I was previously unaware of. Now, on to the anagrams... Supergirl = pig rulers Kara Zor-El = kale razor Linda Lee Danvers = lavender denials or vanilla needs red There's nothing there that gives us any secret insight into Supergirl, so let's try Wonder Woman... Wonder Woman = onward women That's better, a nice feminine mantra hidden in plain sight! Lastly, how about Multi-Face... Multi-Face = a cute MILF I'm not so sure about that, but who am I to cast aspersions. I journal, you decide.... -
