  1. Today, March 22nd, is Nostalgic Investments’ Comic Art NEW ART FRIDAYS! Featured Artists: Neal Adams Alex Toth Ramona Fradon Featured Page: Captain Marvel #17 p14 ( First New Captain Marvel) by Gil Kane There may not be a greater, or as important, page in the whole Captain Marvel storyline as this particular splash. Here’s where Captain Marvel comes back from the Negative Zone and dons the costume, for the very first time, that he will be forever remembered for. Thank god he finally discards that terrible green costume that not too many of us were fans of. I think a good part of his popularity stems from how great this costume looked. This really is an epic first appearance in the annals of Marvel comics. NEW ART FRIDAYS update this week includes art from Giordano, Gil Kane, Jim Mooney, Don Heck, Neal Adams, Jack Kirby, Mike Zeck, Bob Powell, Sal Buscema, Alex Toth, Ramona Fradon, John Stanisci, James Fry, Jerry Bingham, George Papp, Don Heck, Jose Delbo, Carmine Infantino, and Ed Smalls! Detective Comics #447 Cover by Giordano Captain Marvel #17 p14 ( First New Captain Marvel) by Gil Kane ThunderCats #4 Cover (Signed) by Jim Mooney Avengers #11 p18 (Spider-Man vs Spider-Man) by Don Heck Teen Titans #22 p9 (Rare-Adams) by Neal Adams Thor #144 p14 (Signed)(Large Art) by Jack Kirby Captain America #282 p4 by Mike Zeck Tales to Astonish #65 p6 (Large Art) by Bob Powell Defenders #21 p27 by Sal Buscema Moby Cartoon Model Sheet by Alex Toth Super Friends #37 p2 by Ramona Fradon Iron Man Annual #12 p52 by John Stanisci Marvel Saga: The Official History of the Marvel Universe #18 p1 by James Fry Superboy #93 p3 (Large Art) by George Papp Captain America #246 p23 by Jerry Bingham Tales of Suspense #56 p10 (Intro-Origin Unicorn) by Don Heck Wonder Woman #284 p2-3 (Double Spread) by Jose Delbo Flash #116 p3 (Signed, Large Art) by Carmine Infantino Action Comics #199 p5 (Large Art)(Congo Bill) by Ed Smalls See all these New Art Fridays pages at www.nostalgicinvestments.com/fridays and hundreds of comic art pages at www.nostalgicinvestments.com/comic-art Payment plans and trades are always available.
  2. Today, March 8th, is Nostalgic Investments’ Comic Art NEW ART FRIDAYS! Featured Artists: Jack Kirby Doug Wildey Mike Mignola Featured Page: Green Lantern #56 Cover (Large Art) by Gil Kane If I didn’t have my large art Green Lantern cover, I would never give this one up. There are very few of these covers that have ever come on the market or even are in existence. Certainly not many that are this good. It also doesn’t get much better than having it drawn by Gil Kane and Murphy Anderson. To put the price in perspective, the last 2 wonderful George Perez covers sold for $288,000, one a Justice League cover and the other an Avengers. Last night a good, not great, Bob Layton, Iron Man cover sold for $82,000. Of course I can offer up many more examples both cheaper or more expensive but my point is you could spend a lot more money on other covers and not necessarily get the same visual impact that this cover will give you. 3. Today, December 1st, is Nostalgic Investments’ Comic Art NEW ART FRIDAYS! Featured Artists: John Romita, Sr. Mike Mignola Tim Sale Featured Page: Captain America #102 p6 by Jack Kirby Truly an outstanding battle page with Cap doing the things that he is most beloved for. Every panel is tremendous. Even his shield is on full display. These early pages in the Cap run are the most sought after especially with the Syd Shores inks that give it that Golden Age feel to the art. Though I’m a bit biased, he’s my personal favorite Captain America inker. Featured Artists: Tim Sale Brett Booth Sal Buscema Featured Page: Power Man #33 Cover (Signed) by Ron Wilson Growing up, this was one of my favorite Power Man covers. It doesn't hurt that the art was inked by Romita Sr. He was certainly one of the best inkers for Marvel. The art is drawn on vellum on board. 10. Today, November 18th, is Nostalgic Investments’ Comic Art NEW ART FRIDAYS! Featured Artists: John Buscema Jack Kirby Jim Aparo Featured Page: Marvel Fanfare #3 Cover (Double-Cover) by Dave Cockrum To have a Cockrum X-men cover is a dream of every X-men collector. To have a double cover is nearly unheard of. Dave’s covers from the first run, 4 years prior, will run you $200,000-$400,000. This one is from the time of the second run. I was recently offered a cover from that run for $250,000. It seemed a bit ambitious. NEW ART FRIDAYS update this week includes art from Jim Starlin, John Buscema, MR. Featured Artists: Barry Windsor-Smith John Romita, Sr. Bill Everett Featured Page: Conan The Barbarian #6 p14 by Barry Windsor-Smith This is one of the best Conan pages that I’ve seen in a long time. The closeups of Conan are gorgeous by Barry Smith, and the black background adds great depth to the page. It doesn’t hurt to have a beautiful maiden in bondage about to be sacrificed. Not to mention that Sal inks on the Barry pencils makes it even more pleasing. NEW ART FRIDAYS update this week includes art from Barry Windsor-Smith, John Romita, Ron Frenz, Jack Kamen, Rik Levens, Gil Kane, Yanick Paquette, Sal Buscema, Jim Mooney, Bill Everett, and Matt Wagner! 12. Nostalgic Investments’ Comic Art SPOTLIGHT MONDAYS SPOTLIGHT MONDAYS - On Monday we will spotlight a special piece of art for your collecting pleasure. Can’t get much better Fantastic Four #256 p1 (Oversized) by John Byrne Maybe the most important thing to know about this piece is that it’s huge, it’s 171/2”x 12”. That’s the size of large art pieces. Normally these splashes are 15”x10”. So the impact of seeing this extraordinary piece hanging on your wall is profound. This splash has it all; it features the whole team, and they are in the negative zone, which gives you all that black cosmic background that we art collectors love. You can’t even buy a great X-men Byrne page for this price. This is clearly better than most of the covers in the run. I hate to tell you what a great Fantastic Four cover will cost you nowadays. 13. Nostalgic Investments’ Comic Art SPOTLIGHT MONDAYS! SPOTLIGHT MONDAYS! - On Monday we will spotlight a special piece of art for your collecting pleasure. Cap and Destroyer kicking Nazi butt Invaders #18 Cover by Gil Kane Cap in full action mode. Gil Kane does a great job of capturing the intensity of Captain America in battle mode. Having the Destroyer, a hero from the Golden Age, is a rare treat for art collectors. This is his first appearance after 30 years away. Truly a wonderful cover that in auction nowadays would clearly sell for more than the asking price. At least that’s what I’ve been noticing. If you want a great battle cover from the 70’s featuring one of our greatest heroes, Captain America, then this one's for you. 14. Today, September 23rd, is Nostalgic Investments’ Comic Art NEW ART FRIDAYS! Featured Artists: Neal Adams Jack Kirby George Tuska Featured Page: Thor Annual #5 p20 by John Buscema How great is this battle page? I thought it was about time that I offered up an exceptional Buscema page. Every panel is outrageously good. God vs God. Olympus vs Asgard. As we know from the last Thor movie Hercules will play a part in the Marvel Universe, probably facing off against Thor. So the price of a page like this will clearly be much higher in a short time. NEW ART FRIDAYS! update this week includes art from John Buscema, Sal Buscema, Neal Adams, Brett Booth, Ron Lim, Jack Kirby, George Tuska, and Jim Aparo! Especially ones with the Silver Surfer and Thanos. And to have them both here and have Warlock is just the icing on the cake. Those that know this book well will know the significance of this page. I hope I don’t disappoint too many that don’t get this page.
