As I continue to de-access my extensive library here are a few gems that I’m making available. All books are hard cover and in great / like new shape! "Rip Kirby ,the First Modern Detective" Alex Raymond Vol.1 The first comprehensive collection of Alex Raymond's post-war, post-modern classic. Created by Raymond in 1946, it was a fresh approach to the crime genre, an about-face from the prevailing hard-boiled style of detective fiction. Rip Kirby was smart and sophisticated, but still a man's man. Highly conscious of the fashions of the day, Raymond also brought post-war and early-'50s chic to the comics page. The first volume reproduces, from syndicate proof sheets, every strip from the beginning, March 4, 1946, through December 4, 1948. But the real star is Raymond's lush and incomparable brushwork.(10.5” x 11.5”,309 pgs ,BW, $70+$6 shipping) "Rip Kirby ,the First Modern Detective" Alex Raymond Vol.2 While investigating crimes on both sides of the Atlantic, the urbane detective encounters beautiful and conniving women, menacing men and more than a murder or two. Meanwhile, the tension builds in his love triangle with Honey Dorian and Pagan Lee. The second volume contains nearly three years of strips, from December 6, 1948 through September 22, 1951, all drawn in Raymond's incredibly lush style.(10.5” x 11.5”,309 pgs ,BW, $60+$6 shipping) "Hal Foster ,Prince of Illustrators" /signed by author / slip case Large art portfolio and bio of noted illustrator and comic strip artist Hal Foster. 1 Book, TIP TOP 39, Hal Foster Tarzan Cover from 1939, Lower grade but looks nice. One book for today, I meant to put it in my last sales thread, but it somehow got lost (or wanted to stay here;) Shipping anywhere is at cost. I have very strong boards I use for mailing, but this book is too large to be safe in a flat rate envelope because of the spine roll, so figure anywhere from $7.00 if you are on the eastcoast to $10 if you are on the westcoast, Canada seems to be $15.50 for a box, first class. Paypal, MO's or checks are fine. No list people please. I pack very carefully and I have a smoke free home. Returns for any reason, but you must contact me within 3 days of receipt and return the book within 7 days. Return shipping is on you, unless I've made an error.
