About Me

  1. Here are the Marvel Bullpen greats in their prime (no reserve). These pages are all large ,silver age art and rare and someone is going to be the new owners after tonight's Comic Link auction . The Kirby Journey Into Mystery page features Thor and Jane Foster while the Pre-hero Ditko recreates a little Cold War vibe as the US confronts an alien craft. When was the last time you saw a large art John Buscema Avengers page offered?( Answer: You haven't ) and a beautifully inked Gene Colan page rounds out the offerings. Needless to say , I hate parting with these masterpieces but I'm hoping that they go to a good home. If you think you would like to own one of these before the dealers grab them and double the prices get more info and bid at: https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/preview.asp?code=2023feb&itemtype=1
  2. Hi Everyone, I was wondering if any of you more experienced collectors could give me your opinion on the authenticity of this signature. Thank You!
  3. This is my first submission here (I'm a little nervous). It's a Silver Age Fantastic Four 61 with Kirby drawn Sandman. The book appears to have been pressed before I purchased it several years back. My low end estimate is My high end estimate is Clean copy. Edges look very nice for a Silver book. Tiny wave near the spine causing some reflectivity (not wear) back at the camera. Minor top edge stress Tight spine without any noticeable color breaking stress lines A flat back, but whose color is no longer white Many thanks for looking!

  6. Hey guys, thought I'd share some photos of a collection we looked at last night. Please note we haven't bought this yet and this isn't a sales thread. The primary focus is anything, and I mean anything, about or by Steranko. Collector is also into Gulacy and Dave Stevens. There's 144 boxes of books and a pile of prints and posters. There's certainly lots of comics but there's also tons and tons of fanzines, convention program books, Magazines, newspaper clippings, posters, etchings, Trades, art books, etc. it's a real challenge for us to assign a valuation on this collection as there's all kinds of stuff we've never seen and there are multiple copies of many items and some of it is signed.
  7. First time poster, so if this is the WRONG board, I apologize! I'm just getting into the hobby of getting signed comics, and of course, I pick Jack Kirby as one of my first goals. I've done a good bit of reading and looking at confirmed signatures, the DF comics, etc...however, I haven't seen anything that kind of chronicles things to look for in fakes of his signature. I've seen the terrible knock off ones which bear no resemblance to his signature, but picking out the key things that all genuine ones possess has been elusive. For example, here's one I've looked at recently which in some ways compares favorably, but in other ways it looks fake to me (the "y" and the dot at the top of the "b" like it was start/stop). Does this one look genuine? The quick opinion from PSA/DNA was "likely genuine", but I know its still up in the air til they had it in-hand. I guess I'm looking for both opinions on this one, and what qualities or red flags tend to be rules with his autographs. Thanks!!

  21. Back in the late seventies Jack Kirby did a strip based on the Disney movie, "The Black Hole " that was nationally syndicated. In the nineties I picked up the complete series of published color newspaper strips from a guy on ebay. I have since parted with that collection but did have the foresight to photograph and save copies of these pages as they were too big for my scanner. I did loan these out to the Kirby Museum at one point and there is a french copy of this series rumored to be available but as best of my knowledge this is the only place on the web where you can view the entire 26 installments I have made these available to board members in the past and I am doing that again . You can view the entire series at my website click here: https://www.charlesdavidviera.com/thumbnail_list.php?mgd_id=210204 or go to charlesdavidviera.com (scroll down to "Disney's Black Hole").I apologize for the poor production quality as ,again , these are not scanned but photographed.

  25. Hey everyone...I've often wondered how many pages per day the King put out. I'm sure it varied greatly over time, but let's say during his 60's Marvel era where it seems like he had his finger in nearly every pie they baked. Any ideas? I've searched for this info online before and always came up empty handed. Thanks!
