  1. After many years of collecting, I finally own every Marvel Giant Size book! Background: Although I didn't grow up in the 1970s when the GS books were hitting the stands, I had several well-read copies that I cherished above all of my other comics. Why? Because they were big! I didn't care that some of the stories were reprints, I just liked reading a beefy thick comic book and my appreciation for the GS books continued into my adult years. I've been slowly (very slowly) collecting every GS title over the years and it feels great to finally have them all (at least I think I do! ). Over 95% of this collection was purchased "the old fashioned way", at garage sales, comics shops, and from generous CGC Boardies. Sure, you could easily jump on eBay and assemble all 68 issues, but what fun is that?! I intentionally avoided eBay for this run (can you call it a run?!) Rough guess, but this run has taken me +10 years to complete. Many of them are low grades, but I prefer it that way...I decided to seek all of these books out because I want my sons to be able to read them and enjoy them just like I did as a kid (and yes I have floppy versions of the graded books). Cheers and happy collecting! Fun Facts: - My first Giant Size book as a kid: GS Kid Colt #1 - My last purchase to complete the set: GS Man Thing #4 - My favorite GS book: GS Chillers #2 - Hardest GS book for me to find "organically": GS Kid Colt #3 - Most $ spent on a GS book: GS Spiderman #4 (I got my original copy of GSXM1 at a garage sale, had it graded, traded down years later for the 5.0 I currently have!) - I've read every single one! Let's celebrate these quintessential Bronze Marvel books by posting your favorite GS books in the thread! Thanks for reading. Also, in case anyone is interested here’s the list of all the GS books: DD 1 Conan 1,2,3,4,5 Master of Kung Fu 1,2,3,4 FF 2,3,4,5,6 Man Thing 1,2,3,4,5 Dracula 2,3,4,5 Defenders 1,2,3,4,5 Cap 1 Cap Marvel 1 Doc Savage 1 Superstars 1 Thor 1 Iron man 1 Hulk 1 Invaders 1 Power Man 1 Dr Strange 1 Chillers 1,2,3 Chillers 1 (Dracula) Marvel Triple Action 1,2 Avengers 1,2,3,4,5 Super Villain Team Up 1,2 Spider-Man 1,2,3,4,5,6 Kid Colt 1,2,3 Creatures 1 Werewolf 2,3,4,5 Xmen 1,2
  2. Greetings, I have several Bronze Horror mags from my collection for sale on this thread. These are great books that I hate to part with but they need a new home. Condition and Grading I'll describe each condition as best I can with photos, I'm not experienced with detecting restoration but I have checked each book, if a book you purchase from me is found to have restoration that I did not catch, the book maybe sent back for a refund. As for grading, I only have experience submitting modern books for grading, I respect and understand that it is completely different than grading between a 8.0 and 9.0. I’m also going with the grade descriptions from when I purchased the books. Please see photos for condition and feel free to ask any questions. All books will be well packed. The Terms Please no hall of shamers or probies. Payment and Shipping I will only ship to mainland U.S. only and I only accept Pay Pal (USD). $14.00 shipped with Priority Mail First timestamped gets it. Feel free to ask any question before submitting the smilie. Thank you for looking! Brandon

  4. Have you ever bought a comic or magazine and asked yourself, “did I overpay, did I get a good deal?” Well welcome to the forum that allows you to ask that question and allow the comic community to give their thoughts, opinions and ask questions. Lets find out together did you overpay or did you get a great deal !!! Keep it classy and I’ll be kicking it off shortly , I am one that has buyers remorse so, I’m hoping to get some feedback that I got some really great deals .
  5. For a year now get back in Amalgam Series. If you’re all not know Amalgam Comics was a publishing imprint shared by DC Comics and Marvel Comics, in which the two comic book publishers merged their characters into new ones for example, the Challengers of the Fantastic, an amalgamation of the four-member Jack Kirby creations the Challengers of the Unknown and the Fantastic Four, or the Aqua-Mariner, an amalgamation of the water-themed superheroes Aquaman and Namor the Sub-Mariner. So there are lists of heroes and teams have came up with it and like what you’re thoughts this characters merged. And any feedbacks or questions about this choice mash up of Marvel/DC Characters? 9. Fellow comic nerds, I've got a ton of books being auctioned on Heritage -- some ending in a few hours, lots for way under market! Keys like Spidey 1, 14, 129; FF 1, 2, 4, 45, 49, 50, Annual 6 -- lots signed by Stan. That's just today. So many more great keys coming in the next few weeks. I had to sell my entire collection for a downpayment on a house -- wife mandated. I had to let go of my "from my cold dead hands" mantra. Happy wife, happy life. 10. Competition between DC and Marvel has been long-standing since the companies existed parallel to one another. The unhealthy side of the MCU vs DCEU debate took it to a new level as the internet and social media empowered easier access to outlets that could reach a larger audience for such topics, and to any level of extreme thinking. But how one-sided can it be? Is it just the fans taking shots at one another to make it clear only their company can be on top? An example of how such fixations can bleed into reviewer opinions is this Vulture piece when the writer was part of the reporters visiting the Justice League set to take on Zack Snyder about their concerns. VULTURE: Zack Snyder Faces His Haters on the Set of Justice League (June-2016) It's clear the writer is not a fan of the DCEU films up to that point, Zack Snyder's approach, nor the darker side of the DC stories. Though the green screen comment is interesting. As if he had visited the Age of Ultron set two years prior... green screen city. But is it limited to just the reviewers and tracking sites taking sides? At times, the creators and cast members can allow themselves to be pulled into such fixation. Anthony Mackie is so dedicated to the MCU, he is known to take regular shots at the other side to convey how much he loves Marvel. To the point he will tell a reviewer if they like a film from the DCEU, you may as well give up your career and have awful taste. Although at times he is just doing it for fun to trash talk (how I took it), some fans can pounce on this and take it further to support their preferred studio and actors. The Russo Brothers, on the other hand addressed this professionally about wanting to make a great film no matter any competition. But even Anthony Mackie admits in other interviews there really is no fixation on beating DCEU movies (4:11), and no - MCU cast members are not sitting around beating down such films. He even notes how there are people assuming this is what they do during filming, which he doesn't understand. And it sure isn't an MCU thing, as David Ayer allowed himself to be pulled into such debates in the most extreme of ways. Though later on he apologized for this extreme statement. As much as Zack Snyder has been attacked for his dark DCEU films, he has publicly stated being a fan of Marvel films. Even recently admitting at the 2019 Zack: Snyder: The Director's Cuts event he is a fan of the Avengers films. So a positive statement. Even worse is when the critics reveal how much they dislike the direction of a company's properties in film, wanting 'the other side' to do it like their beloved company. Though some make it so personal, it feeds into their unbiased reviewer expectations (Joanna Robinson - Senior Writer, VanityFair.com). Or, even worst when it becomes so personalized to convey their dislike of a franchise approach, it is a total fixation on a given creator (Lindsay Ellis - Channel Awesome film reviewer; Priscilla Page - Birth.Movies.Death film reviewer; Jordan Hoffman - The Guardian TV & film critic). so rather than the focus on healthy competition to up each other's standards leading to more impressive films, it becomes a mix of hate and harsh statements detracting from the positive feelings such films should bring in the end. Even the darkest of films meant to deliver a positive experience in the end. So with all that, are we in a better place because of such influences and approaches or just more at odds with one another? Is there a better approach without making it so personal to question someone's mental abilities, intent (love when I am accused of fudging numbers to make DCEU films look better), or even what they appreciate?

  16. As some of you might have read in the Announcement threads, I have recently had the mourning of both my parents. Since I have to face some immediate expenses, I have decided to ran a few sales offering both books from my collection and material that I’ve been intentioned to sell for some time. For the aforementioned reason (and also for the current unfavorable exchange rate USD-EUR) as a general rule I will not offer discounts. I will try to invoice more or less weekly and of course I’ll combine shipping costs. You can find my kudos thread here. I try to grade books accurately but I’m no professional grader – mostly the grade listed is the grade I’d be satisfied with if I was the buyer. IMPORTANT: I am based in Italy. Postage costs are pretty high, so check the table below. Rules: The first (icon or text) in thread wins. You can purchase by PM but at your own risk – I will go by time stamp.

Payment methods accepted: Paypal, TransferWise. In case I already know you, International Bank transfers are fine. Please no people on the HoS or Probation list. Shipping rates: I ship from Italy. Rates indicatively as follows (Zone 1 is Europe and UK, Zone 2 is Americas, Asia and Africa, and Zone 3 Oceania). Airmail does not have a tracking number, so for more expensive purchases I will use only Registered.

For total amounts of over $300 I will ship to USA through registered courrier for a flat fee of $38. This will be good up to 2kg (approx 4,4 lbs.) Zone1 Zone2 Zone3 Airmail / 1-2 bks: 10.50 15.00 20.50 USD Airmail / up to 8-10 bks: 13.50 20.50 27.00 USD Airmail / up to 16-20 bks: 21.50 34.50 41.00 USD Registered / 1-2 bks: 17.50 22.60 28.80 USD Registered / up to 8-10 bks: 23.50 32.50 43.00 USD Return policy: I do not offer returns as it would be impractical cost-wise from here, but in the unfortunate case I missed something drastic (like a cut out page or ad) I will make sure to make you whole. Thanks for looking!
  17. So i found a second print of ASM #361 (first full app of Carnage). I knew that the ASM would be pretty valuable even as a second print. I was thinking of getting it graded and not sure if it is worth it. The ASM I would say is probably about a 7-7.5. Any suggestions?
  18. Getting this pressed before submission, but curious as to what grade I might expect. Thanks in advance.
  19. Thanks in advance, first post. Worried about the smudge about 2" below the #3. Hosted Scans if needed. Venom 3 Front Venom 3 Back
  20. Trading Card Sale: Sets, Boxes, and Other Goodies I’m looking to sell the last of my extra trading cards (psst - that means I'm motivated). I’ll be listing a little Marvel, DC, and other franchises. You’ll see full sets, empty boxes, supplies, and grab bags. Maybe some other stuff too. Shipping: United States only, shipping is at cost. I’ll pack your items and charge you exact shipping via USPS or PayPal: $8: USPS Priority Mail Padded Envelope $8.50 - $12: USPS Regional Priority Box $13: USPS Medium Flat Rate Box $15: USPS Large Flat Rate Box Pricing: Offers are always welcome. I love to trade! Always looking for stuff like this…but not this exact stuff. Rules: PayPal preferred; check and money order ok (checks must clear before shipping). Payment due within 2 days. No Returns. I'd be happy to send more pictures or descriptions upon request. No HOS or other list people. Notes: I am not the original owner of these items. I’ve put these together from buying bulk card lots and making sets. I try to separate the poor/damaged cards, but some of these cards may not be Mint. I would be happy to open up a set and let you know if anything looks bad. I will try to ship any card boxes flat to save on shipping costs and avoid additional creasing. Thanks for looking!
  21. Hi folks, this is my first post of probably many as I've just come into some old comics. I've searched the internet high and low trying to get information about this supplement from a newspaper called New York Star that only seemed to exist for two years. The main question I guess is, is this considered a marvel golden age comic. It seems to be Sub-mariner #28, except with a different cover and minus two ad pages which was released in Oct '48, this being Jan '49. It contains: Three sub-mariner stories (a case of the king's ransom/kids! Kids! Kids!/crime makes the writer) and a Blonde Phantom story (the test of fear). The first panel of every story has a code, being SL-3323, 3522, 3382 and 3562. There is also a two page story titled 'Imagination' with the code SL-3125. On the front cover is art by Frank Frollo. Also included is a full page ad for a 25c beanie copter, a sub-mariner quiz page (3718), a page showing two half page ads, one being for a Simplex Portable Typewriter for $2.98 and a Juke box bank for $1.98, and a back page ad for the new York star newspaper. Every inside page is in colour. So my questions are does this count as a marvel golden age, is it some kind of rare variant find, is it worth grading, does the SL stand for Stan Lee, anything you can tell me would be gratefully recieved. Also, if I was to grade it, is there such a thing as trimming the cover? It overhangs by about 4mm on the outer edge and doing so would drastically increase its presentation. I have more comics with questions so this probably won't be my last post. Thanks in advance!
