The Fourteenth California Comic Convention ( CalComicCon ) will be held on Sunday, January 26th 2020. The show will be held in Orange County in Costa Mesa, held just miles from Disneyland and other attractions. We will continue to have a raffle that will have CGC graded comics, original artwork and sketches by guest artists. This year our show will be at the Westin South Coast plaza and we will have a Saturday Comic Swap and artist reception on Saturday the 25th. Advance purchases will get three tickets, with a chance at a special online ticket holder only raffle. CGC will again be taking comic submissions and doing signature witnessing. Hey guys, thought I'd share some photos of a collection we looked at last night. Please note we haven't bought this yet and this isn't a sales thread. The primary focus is anything, and I mean anything, about or by Steranko. Collector is also into Gulacy and Dave Stevens. There's 144 boxes of books and a pile of prints and posters. There's certainly lots of comics but there's also tons and tons of fanzines, convention program books, Magazines, newspaper clippings, posters, etchings, Trades, art books, etc. it's a real challenge for us to assign a valuation on this collection as there's all kinds of stuff we've never seen and there are multiple copies of many items and some of it is signed.

I'm planning some home renovations this Winter/Spring, so I'm going to hopefully have a series of sales. This is the first. All the books in this lot are CGC'd. I'm sorry that I only have pictures and no scans for most, but my slab scanner doesn't seem to like the latest version of Windows 10;) I might be able to add some scans later on. This time shipping is not included, but I charge exact shipping and no “handling” fees. With slabs I find that there is too much of a difference between the East and West Coast to charge everyone the same thing. I do use Regional boxes if I can save you money (and I double box). I'm on the East coast. I send anything over $200 signature required. I pay for private insurance, so that is covered by me. I will ship anywhere. Paypal and checks/MO's are accepted. Time payments are possible (but ask me first before posting a Take It) General rule is 20% down (non refundable) due within 3 days. The rest of the payment schedule we can work out, but the payments must be completed no later than March 2nd. If they are not, I will refund the balance minus the initial 20%. Take it rules. You can post a take it in the thread or in a PM. If you post in the pm, put the time. I don't expect ties, but if there is one, the tie goes to the post on the thread. Returns. One of the many things that made Jim Steranko unique was that he insisted on doing his own color guides, rather than relegating that task to a staff colorist. I am fortunate to have landed the color guides to a couple of Steranko Nick Fury stories, which were hand colored by Jim himself, and they are pretty spectacular to see how he envisioned them to look - they are definitely much more vibrant than the stories in the printed comic since newsprint at the time just didn't pop. Not to mention the amount of time he must've spent on some of the detail and shading. I've posted the complete Nick Fury story guides from Strange Tales 155 and Nick Fury Agent of Shield 2 in my CAF galleries (link below) but I'm posting a couple of images below also. untilFebruary 23-24: Warren, MI at the Macomb Community College! This is a GREAT show that I have attended for years. It is a top 3 show in the state of Michigan and while certainly not as big as Motor City, it has more of an "old school" feel with a higher percentage of Comic Vendors. This will be my first time selling at it, and I know @catrick339 and @Nick's Comics will both also be setup there too. I have done a lot of business with both guys over the years so please check out their booths as well, great books, great prices, and slightly above average Hawaiian shirts (catrick only). Jim Steranko, Arvell Jones, Keith Pollard and many more comic book and pop culture creators and celebrities will be in attendance. @Rich_Henn will be onsite as well for signatures. I bought this book on the boards about 6 months ago and 2 weeks later, a friend offered me a higher grade one. I thought this was high enough, but I bought the other one anyway. I kept them both because I love Steranko, but I don't normally keep doubles, so I'm going to sell it. It's a nice book, with white pages. I'd like payment by tomorrow night unless we make other arrangements (I want to be able to mail it promptly). Paypal preferred this time, but personal checks are fine, too. Just let me know. Marvel Comics Index So as I was filing away my new Bizarre Adventures #27 (Thanks again Ron C.) and these were filed right before in the box. Strickly speaking these are not magazines but indexes with cover pics in B&W but they are magazine sized and have some great cover art so I'd thought someone might like to see them. I don't have 1 and 2 as I was not a big Spidey or Conan fan at the time (early eighties) and these are not high grade as all were rescued from quarter bins. There are great covers here from Steranko, Steacy, Reyes, Adams, etc. Anybody have these?

Steranko at Windy City Pulp & Paper Convention April 21-23, 2017 The legendary Jim Steranko will be the Guest of Honor at the upcoming Windy City Pulp and Paper Convention, taking place at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center from Friday, April 21 through Sunday, April 23, 2017. Steranko is a legend not only in the comics field – for his groundbreaking work as an artist and a historian – but in the pulp field as well, with his depictions of several classic pulp heroes, from The Shadow to Doc Savage to Sherlock Holmes to G-8 and many more. Steranko will be present throughout the show, and will also be speaking Friday night at 7:00 p.m. As this year’s show is the same weekend as C2E2 (also in the Chicagoland area), C2E2 attendees may want to head to Lombard to complete their weekend. This year’s event also celebrates the Red Circle line of pulps. These were the first publications put out by Martin Goodman, who later would launch the Timely line of comics that eventually became Marvel. The program book is packed with material on Steranko, the Red Circle line, gangster pulps, and more! The cover is attached. The convention also features over 150 tables of pulps, vintage paperbacks, comics, original comic and illustration art, and other related goodies for sale in its massive dealer room. Movies based on pulp stories will be playing throughout the day on Friday and Saturday, while the New Pulp movement will host a variety of panels on Sunday. And Friday and Saturday nights will feature two incredible estate auctions, featuring thousands of pulps, including nearly 200 issues of The Shadow, as well as many other rare pulps. Admission is $35 for all three days, $25 for Friday only, $25 for Saturday only, and $10 for Sunday only. Ages 13 and under admitted free with parent.
