  1. My journey into this wonderful hobby began in early 1994, when I found The Death of Superman graphic novel at Kroger, I was 11 years old then. The graphic novel collected the seven issue storyline "Doomsday!", the comic book colors inside hooked me. I had heard of this “event” but I was so late to the party that it was over. The Death and Return of Superman story arc was a trilogy of storylines; "Doomsday!", "Funeral for a Friend" and "Reign of the Supermen!", all ancient history by '94. After I got The Death of Superman graphic novel I searched out issues for "Funeral for a Friend" and "Reign of the Superman!," not an easy task for a kid with no job (or allowance 'cause I never did chores), who's only transportation were his parents or the school bus. I was able to catch up thanks to few Toys-R-Us trips, where late comers like myself were able to pick up various two packs and packaged sets of comics, with a lot of Superman books. I found most of the issues I needed for "Funeral for a Friend" this way. As I got more into collecting I decided I wanted to have the individual "Doomsday!" issues, even thou I had them nicely collected in TPB form, after another Toy R Us trip, I got all those issues from a box set. As I started accumulating price guides, poly bags and backing boards a monster began to gestate, who became concerned about condition and value. I then discovered there were actually multiple printings for many of these issues, and the first printings were more valuable! Each printing after the first edition was notated by a roman numeral, next to the issue number and price on the top left corner of each cover. The cover art remained the same with each subsequent printing but the title logo color scheme changed for each issue’s printing. After realizing this the 2nd, 3rd and so on printings I had were tarnished in my eye. All of my "Doomsday!" issues were later printings, and not worth the paper they were printed on, and most of my 'Funeral' issues were the same. As the years went on, and the prices went down, I replaced many of my later printings with first prints, recycling the paper rags I had before. Then CGC came along.... Around 2007 I decided to start CGC Registry set for this storyline, all 9.8, first prints only, yet by the early 2010's I re-discovered the later printings, becoming enticed by the thrill and challenge of trying to find these books in high grade. I love how unexpected all of this was, I know I never thought the later printings would ever be collectible, and I think it's safe to say I wasn't the only one. Here are my CGC examples thus far, keeping the thrill of the hunt alive. Updated 11/01/2019 Some of my childhood books also survived, thankfully.
  2. Hello, I am looking to buy Superman 74 2nd print already graded CGC 9.8 with White Pages. Will pay $160.00. Please message me if you have one to sell. Thank you!
  3. Hello all! I have sold to many of you on Ebay over the past 20+ years-I have over 2500 positives there (no negatives)! I have had excellent transactions with: ricksneatstuff, MustEatBrains, Comcav, GoldenAgeAddict, Joshua33, jimjum12, Solar Boy, Casablanca...the list could go on and on! Rules: NO PL/HOS members! "I'll take it" in a thread will always supersede any negotiations in PM or emails Payment: Paypal is perfectly acceptable. Purchases over $1,000, check/mo preferred. Checks must clear first...usually 3 business days max! Payment plans available, please PM me to discuss. Shipping: I ship USPS Priority mail almost daily, so you will receive your books quickly. CGC books ( up to 5) will be $15 to US, exact postage to Canada. Refunds: There will be no refunds since books are graded by a third party (CGC of course)! Any questions or comments, please feel free to reach out. Good luck to all!
  4. Check out some great deals on World's Finest from Silver & Bronze Age - If link doesnt work - search for seller "nyvalue" https://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_ssn=nyvalue&_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=world&_sop=15
  5. Hi, tonight I'll be listing about 20 books. The raw books have not been cleaned or pressed. As for the slabs, I submitted most of the books and many were pressed by Joey Post. I marked the ones that I know for sure were not pressed or cleaned (because I don't have all of my books pressed or cleaned). Some of the books are new, some I've had for sale before. All of the prices should be fair, but in the case of the relisted books, I've lowered most of them. I'm going to do shipping at my cost to be fair to those who are out of the Country or across the Country or near me. If you need a shipping quote, just ask. I use regional boxes whenever it's practical and I pay for private insurance and if you spend more than $200, I will pay for the signature that my insurance requires. I accept Paypal, Checks or Money Orders. Payment is due in 7 days unless we have made other arrangements before you hit the Take it sign. First take it wins. In case of a tie, the one visible on the boards wins. Returns for any reason, but the book must be returned packed and shipped in the same manner it was shipped to the buyer within 7 days of receipt. Return shipping costs are to be paid by the buyer unless I made an error. Time payments are possible with a 20% non refundable downpayment paid within 3 days. 6. I've been building the perfect beast that is my CGC Death and Return of Superman set, going on 12 years now. My set is an assemblage of subsets, including the "Doomsday!" and "Reign of the Supermen!" chapters, along with all the multiple printings of the various issues, Platinum Editions (Superman #75, Adventures of Superman #500), and Collector's Editions. Another subset, or beast, is the "Funeral for a Fried" chapter, a collection of nine books that tell the story of a world without a Superman. I consider this to be the best chapter of the saga, with those closest to Superman mourning with the citizens of Metropolis, other characters in the DC Universe, President Clinton and the rest of the world. With the exception of Superman: The Man of Steel #21, each cover is fantastic. Outlined with a black boarder, these books are a challenge to find in 9.8 grade. I scored Superman: The Man of Steel #20 recently, now I'm only three issues away from having all the first prints in 9.8 holders. Requiescat in pace, Superman.
  7. Anyone check this DCAU film out yet? Superman - Jerry O'Connell Superboy - Cameron Monaghan Steel - Cress Williams (Black Lightning) Hank Henshaw - Patrick Fabian Lex Luthor - Rainn Wilson Lois Lane - Rebecca Romijn Green Lantern - Nathan Fillion Director - Sam Liu

  13. Hello, I have two editions available. Number one: It is a Brazilian Edition of Action Comics 266. $8 Description: This Bi monthly issue of 1968 reprints the cover and the classic story from ac n°266. Also reprints other AC 266 story, one from AC 320, one from Adventure Comics 308 and another Superman's one that I was not able to identify the origin. Probably around ten times scarcer than the US version. Condition: This is definitely a low grade item. Besides the multiple hand writing, the cover and back cover are attached to the inner through tape, since the staples are not present. Plus the spine is with several large pieces missing. Cover presents wear on the paint, specially close to the right border where is also a couple of minimal tears. On the back cover the wear is stronger, very strong close to the spine. Minimal coloring in some internal pages. I estimate it at 1.8, a little higher (2.0) and a little lower (1.5) seems also decent guesses. Number two: The second is a single issue that comprises Amazing Spider-Man 59 to 61. $17. Description: It ts Brazilian "Almanaque do Homem Aranha 1972" which used to be the equivalent of US annual. Original artwork on the cover. Condition: The Edition is in quite good condition. There are some bend marks in the lower right corner and some very small creases around the spine. However, the thick, plasticized cover make it quite hard to see. First page has an small pen writing. I grade it quite conservatively at 6.0, but can easily be 6.5 or 7.0, with a visual appearance even superior. Shipping of any of these can be as low as $3 through an economic shipping (no tracking) or $8 with tracking. I ship it in five business days, starting to count from the day after the payment. Payment is through Pay-Pal (but if someone knows a better way, one with lower feeds, I am all hears) I accept returns, but the buyer shall then pay the shipping costs.

Scan shows Martin Nodell and me with the actual book that he signed for me that day at the Tampa Comic Con in 2006 shortly before he passed away. 15. For sale is the original edition of 75 Years of DC comics. Published in 2010. It's unopened, still in the original box, shrink wrapped. This is the BIG version, not the newer reprint. The box is 18 x 12.5 x 3.5 and it's heavy, I'd say at least 10 lbs. Payment by Paypal, check, or MO. Shipping would probably be best if I send it media mail (that's only available for the U.S., but I would ship it anywhere at my cost. No returns on this book, it's just too heavy . However if there is a problem when you get it, we will work something out. No list people please.

  21. Hi guys, I need a bit of help from the experts; I was happy to buy the original art to this nice Dave Cockrum pinup from THE COLLECTOR #24 fanzine, published in 1971 (in full color !). You can see the published version in 'additional images' (thanks to Ken Meyer Jr.'s 'INK STAINS' blog: https://comicattack.net/2015/06/01/is-72-tc-24/). I'd like some help from Dave Cockrum experts - is this the first Superman or Superboy image he'd published (in a fanzine or elsewhere) ? If not, please let me know when and where was his first (fanzine) Superman published. Many thanks, Gal
