i went to the yerba buena art mueseam here in the city back in september, and they had this one weird/porn comic where the woman/TS had the male tool. do you know what im talking about? but anyways i was pleasantly surprised to see a piece by david mazzuchelli there, his was a weird perverted one too.

I have no idea why, but the Japornese comics are chock full of hermaphrodites and incest... As you pointed out, serious repression going on there.

 

However, as the owner of a store that carries all publishers and all genres, I have seen some artwork in some of the mature comics that rivals any museum art. Given freedom of expression, there's some quality stuff being produced...

 

There's a book called "FLEEP" that came out a month or so ago that is a visceral read at the least. No nudity, no violence, only one character ever drawn, and it's a punch in the stomach. I still don't know if I like it, but I am glad it got published...
