34 posts in this topic

Since I know them best, here are some of the lamest villains from silver age Wonder Woman

The Blob - a rock'n'roll blob. http://www.sufferingsappho.com/wrap/first/first151.jpg

The Human Fireworks -- he was a bunch of fireworks with a face in it.

Mouse Man - a 6" guy wearing a yellow mouse suit. http://www.sufferingsappho.com/wrap/first/first141.jpg

Egg Fu - A gigantic Chinese egg with a lethal moustache. http://www.sufferingsappho.com/wrap/first/first158.jpg

The Crimson Centipede - a guy who had the body of a centipede. http://www.sufferingsappho.com/wrap/first/first169.jpg

And my vote for lamest...

Paper Man -- he was a big piece of newspaper shaped like a man. http://www.sufferingsappho.com/wrap/first/first165.jpg

Alas, Scottish, I cannot take credit. But I felt you had to see those lame villains to believe that I wasn't making them up for the thread. Robert Kanigher was writing the book at that time and he was a bit of a wacko, according to one source. But very imaginative. He created the Metal Men and wrote their first issue in a single weekend.

Tough critic! I thought the Brood issues were pretty good, and Paul Smith did a fine job replacing the pencillers after Byrne left. Its the issues after 175 that I have a bone to pick with grin.gif

.......just checked the artist on the JIM #90, it was al hartley (not JK).......the art was so bad i was actually laughing out loud as i read the book (coupled with the embarrassing villain, carbon copy man).......

......does anyone know anything about al hartley, what other early 60's books he drew for marvel?......i would like to avoid them......... grin.giflaugh.gif

How about "The Avant Guard" from Web of Spidey? Think its issue #75 or so. I would agree that Spidey has the lamest foes...but, he also has the best! And it seems the breakdown is this:

ASM -Good Villains

Web - Bad

PP - Worst
