I mentioned that we are restarted but no one reads my posts I guess - maybe CGC can have an interview with me all official like. Or maybe you guys did read CBG or Overstreet or Fan or Comic Book Monthly or Comic Book Marketplace or Overstreet Comic Price review or failed to notice my phone nymber and email everywheres. Easy to jump on the bandwagon when you have no complete idea. If anyone qualified (ie owns goodwill industries or salvation army) person can offer advice beyond these fickle boards it would be welcome. email me at comics4kids@aim.com I dont look here too often

Don't look here too often?? You've been lighting up this thread for a few days now! And you're posting in the PGM threads as well...

I'd say you're more active than you let on..and if people have concerns and they're voicing them, there's no need to get hostile. It only makes you look more guilty (and I'm not say you are).

There are just soo many scammers out there now that people want to be 100% sure when they donate items of value, regardless of the value. You cannot fault someone for being careful...it is their money BTW.

And yes, PLEASE resize that photo...the comics are great and so is your boy (I assume) but man, its just beyond a reasonable size...

Brock

Thank you for your input Brock, I will get C4K to a point where persons interested will have an opportunity to contribute once its all legal

I am confused here. Isn't it what the main issue has been about?

So is this a scam?

if you mean by a confidence game or other fraudulent scheme, especially for making a quick profit; swindle, then no.

Nothing quick about this business

So what is it? It appears to be a non-profit NOT a charity by any legal definition. People here are interested in philanthropic efforts to get kids to read comics but your evasiveness is making it appear that this is simply a creative form of self-employment for you & yours.

There certainly was an opportunity at one point CGC even allowed something to be posted about your initial intentions here that derailed quickly.

New Orleans or Bust! CGC Announces the 2011 Comics4kids/CGC Forums Philanthropy Drive

Posted: 12/7/2011

The executive gang at Comics4kids received special news from Wizard World. Stephen Shamus

announced that he is sponsoring a table for the charity at the upcoming New Orleans Comic Con in New Orleans, LA on January 28-29 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

The Comics4kids staff will be offering free comics to children attending the show as well as appraising and pre-screening attendees’ and dealers’ comic books in exchange for donations. In addition, they will be answering all questions related to the comic book industry, as well as making new friends and continuing to spread the great words and pictures we have all come to love!

“This is an awesome opportunity and we are very grateful to CGC and Wizard,” says C4K President Dale Moore from their headquarters in Seattle, WA. Moore is the former CGC Quality Control expert as well as a contributing writer and advisor to The Official Overstreet’s Comic Book Price Guide and other industry publications since 1987.

CGC President Paul Litch generously provided grading services and brought the latest CGC forum philanthropy drive to fruition, continuing the generous support that his company has provided for years.

CGC forum members will donate encapsulated books to auction off in conjunction with those investment grade books donated by persons such as McKibbin and Comics4kids’ El Capitan Damien Moore. “I am looking forward to networking with collectors, dealers, and fans in the Big Easy,” says Moore.

“I am happy to do what I can for Comics4Kids,” says sponsor Harley Yee who also donated books.

Interested parties can participate via the online auction to be featured on the CGC Chat Board forum at www.CGCcomics.com. Visit the beta version of the new www.comics-4-kids.org, and be sure to communicate with Moore directly at (206) 327-7436 and Comics4kids@aim.com. Contact Harley Yee at Harleycomix@aol.com Wizardworld.com.

Comics4kids, Inc. is the nonprofit company that gives comic books to children to improve literacy and encourage imagination! The group accepts donations of comic books from collectors and dealers, as well as the general public and delivers them to kids eager to embrace the power of the premier illustrated literary medium. Since 1996 Comics4kids has given away over 1,000,000 comic books!

The thoughts and opinions in the piece are those of their author and are not necessarily the thoughts of the Certified Collectibles Group.

Oh yeah. I remember this self written press release.

It's the one where you don't mention that the funds you were raising were for your personal travel and expense in New Orleans.

Since you stopped answering questions in the general discussion thread in the sales forum lets get a couple answers here.

How many of those sponsors mentioned in the above had knowledge that comic4kids was neither a recognized registered charity and not even an actual corporation before they donated?

I mean there you are calling comics4kids "inc" right there in your last paragraph when you knew that it had been dissolved since 2010.

Do you think all those donors would have liked to have known the actual state of affairs before donating?

Also donated a million comics since 1996? To whom? When?

You were asked nearly a week ago in the other thread to name some hospitals. You never returned to the thread after saying you did not have the paper work handy. With one million comics donated shouldn't it be easier to have that information available?

+1 to all. Let's hear some concrete answers for once.

Just to recap, our exchange from Feb 3rd...

Which hospitals do you donate comics to?

I have H info but have to post later, paperwork not on me at this juncture. Even a lot of Forum members here too when they had a sick relative

Perhaps you can post all the information on the hospitals in this thread? Some proof of these large-scale donations would be helpful as well. Thanks...

While we're all piling on poor Dale here, maybe he can explain the circumstances that resulted him from being removed/fired from his job in the Quality Control Department at CGC?

Could it be recording confidential client information regarding certain submissions of certain big books such as Action 1, Detective 1 and 27?

He must remember the probably alcohol induced posting of the grades, certificate number, and submitter of those books one night in the Gold Forum back in the day?

I still have the list saved up.

I remember how concerned that Borock and Litch were about it when I informed Litch about it via PM which resulted in me explaining the situation via a phone call. Borock said that he was going to have a little chat with him at the then upcoming Emerald City Comic Con.

Yeah, we should trust this guy.

Since your Company (I say company because it clearly is not a charity) is not Incorporated in Washington State anymore, or anywhere else for that matter, how exactly would you classify all the "donations" for the IRS?

If I am given $60,000 worth of "donations" but I don't have the correct designations from the IRS, wouldn't they just consider that straight income?

This whole C4K has stink written all over it....nothing gets by these boards huh?? :)

Well, this one did for many years, apparently.

And if it wasn't for some Three-card Monte played with a comic ( Air Fighters or Air Pirate Funnies #1 I can't remember which) being listed as sold when it was supposed to be auctioned in the thread we may still be letting this thing run undiscovered.

Probably a smaller concern, but how many years has it been since the comix4kids website has worked?

No charity designation from the IRS, no business incorporation going on 2 years, won't answer any questions directly and completely ignores others, sells porno posters right next to comic books on Ebay, a facebook page that lists your Mission as "TBD"...did I leave anything out?

Oh yeah

Please prove me wrong and give me some evidence that any kids received anything from your charity...um... company...um... organization...um you.
