Great books.  ASM 97 is one of my all time favorite covers.  Love yellow spider-man covers plus the GG, that is legit.  Love the Romita sigs on both as well.

ASM 96 is just about the opposite for me.  I wish they would have used the alternate Gil Kane cover for 97 as the cover for ASM 96.  ASM 96 was a very tough book for me to find in a higher grade.

Yeah that cover is more appealing but they couldn't really have used that Harry image for 96. It was the next issue 97 where Harry OD's. 96 had the black kid jumping off the building on LSD. Maybe they could have replaced Harry with the 2 cops and the kid for the alternate cover?

My post in the ASM #129 thread reminded me of how I try and save the original price tags when I buy a comic. Picked this up in probably 1977 or 78 at my first comic convention in NYC. There is a Romita sig on the first page. Big purchase for me back then! Anyone else save the price tags or am I just  :insane:

Wish I did.  I had a small pile (3) copies of secret war 8's I rebagged last year, finally, after 20 years with their dollar price tag.  Picked up in 2000 on my way into the navy from a comic shop that decided to get out of back issues.
