I was pretty good friends with him, Terry Stroud and Carl Macek back in the mid ‘70’s when they had their American Comic Book Comic Book Company store. Their prices were always let’s say “aggressive” even back then. They sure had the stuff and were very aggressive buyers at the time. There were a lot of OO GA collections still out there and they were being brought into the store all the time. I don’t think I’ve bought more than a couple books from him since he moved back to FL.

More social isolation fun.  Went through some of my pulps and thought I would share some pictures.

Awesome!

Keep the pics rolling.

FYI:  The best way to take a picture and avoid any glare is to put them on a flat surface in natural light (not direct sunlight).  This takes as good of pictures as a shadowbox, and there’s no glare.  Believe me after having to take thousands of pictures this Summer, I learned that quickly.

Thanks Dwight, I definitely need to figure that out.  My house isn't great with natural light.

Those are awsome Dan. The Horror and Crime titles are obviously my favorite. Many of the covers even trump PCH comic covers. I have quite a few of those and others. The beauty of them to me is there are so many I have never seen. I make new discoveries all the time, unlike comics that I rarely find stuff I've never seen.

Thanks Bob, you and I have the same taste in pulps.

I really need a better copy but this is better than not having it at all...

When I think of twisted off the hook pulps, this one comes to mind first.

This guy rounds up people off the streets, maims them, and forces them to sell pencils for him! Notice his other victims in the background.

Oh yeah!  I've never had a chance to even get one.

I was able to get a few Strange Detective Mysteries in the big collection I bought, and I hung onto the nicer ones.

There were 3 mid grade Canadian copies but I thought they were really neat covers as well.

Laid the books out on a table, stood on a chair and took the picture, precariously balancing.

After this I found the individual pictures that I took a while back 🤨

In the '30s and '40s villains had a lot more panache (and a lot of time on their hands).  Very creative... lots of painstakingly designed and manufactured torture devices, each attempting to be unique and make a statement.  Today's villains... not so much.  Zap you with a ray beam, blow up your city with a bomb, yada yda yada.  Nobody takes pride anymore.
