They were pretty decent shape. I thought about making him an offer on the bunch but just have no personal interest in them. Romance, Western and many sci-fi pulps just don't seem to have a lot of interest out here. I'm trying to have less stuff these days instead of more. They didn't seem to be getting any attention and I doubt he sold any.  Sounds like you are "the guy" I guess...

Here is a large rack of “Love” pulps I saw a few weeks ago at the paperback show. I looked at them very carefully a couple of times but didn’t buy any at even 5 bucks each. Mostly painted covers that looked like Ace romance comics. I’m sure many of you romance collectors would have a field day. The only romance pulps I collect are ones with holiday covers and there wern’t any there.

Robot Man was referring to the LA Vintage Paperback Collectors Show in Glendale, CA.  I have attended twice, once at the Mission Hills location and last year in Glendale.

Yup, right in my backyard and yet somehow I missed the show - would have liked to have seen those Romance pulps. :sorry:

This is really cool, and I've never heard of any fairs like this in New England.  However... I've never looked into it.  I did a quick google search and found this for those of you in the northeast:

Gary Lovisi, owner of Gryphon Books, used to run a great collectible paperback show on the same Sunday as NYCC.  Unfortunately, Hurricane Sandy destroyed his house in 2012, along with his collection and inventory of great paperbacks.

Dayum, that's a shame.  I'm in Mass, so the Boston show would be a better option.  I know the venue too, as there have been comic shows there in the past.

Thanks for the info!  Here in the Midwest we just had the Windy City Pulp and Paperback Show.  A good once a year show to come to if you are in the Chicago area.....

I love romance pulps.  I probably would have bought every one in decent shape, or maybe even all of them.  It's great to find a large lot like this.

Guess I blew it... But to be honest, they just didn't excite me at all. I would have only bought them for minimal resale and would probably have been stuck with most of them. At this point in life, I don't need to aquire much more stuff. Was a little surprised that they sold none or very little of them though. I know they don't turn up like this very often. Just very minimal collector interest I suspect.

Love it! This is the kind of pulp I was looking for in that book case but no dice.

If that cover was on a comic it would be worth way more than it is
