Nice. Is that Spidey splash by McGuinness? I almost bought one from the same series but procrastinated and missed out unfortunately.

Yup.  As you can tell, I’m not big on modern art in my collection... but that piece is just fantastic, I just fell in love with it immediately

As long as I was sharing those... might as well give an overview of what my collection looks like now... since it’s easy to do, being so small.  Everything I own is framed and up on these two walls in my home office...

Well there’s more wall space than is shown... I’ve still got room for, I think, about 8-10 more pieces of art.   But I’m VERY lucky my wife has said “Ok, that room is yours... whatever you want to do with the walls in there is fine with me.”.  She doesn’t have a room like that.  Well, other than the rest of the entire house, come to think of it.... hm

And by the way?  For those noticing... the Buscema MTU page (upper right on the published art wall) was the 2nd piece I ever bought, and before I settled on a “signature” framing style that I replicate with my framing guy on every piece.  And the OCD in me dies a little every time I look at that dark matte... I can’t stand it.  It just seems so wasteful to redo a piece just to make it match.  But honestly I can see that happening sooner than later.  It really drives me nuts!

Mats are pretty cheap. Swopping it out would be super simple.

Seems a very small price for your sanity. ;)

That's what I was thinking, maybe 20 bucks to swap it.The real danger is discovering they taped the thing down or something worse.  Sometimes you just don't want to know.

I would leave it as a sentimental reminder of an early decision about original comic art!  Conversation topic for non believers, too.  David

Is that the actual cover to Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1, or is it just a recreation? I got Pat Olliffe to do a recreation of that cover for me, and it turned out pretty sweet.

I wish! Nope that's the first (and only to this point) commission I've ever had done... by the wonderful Alan Kupperberg.  What a nice man.  We discussed a number of different ideas for what I would have him do, and when I finally said "what cover have you never done that you've always wanted to do?" he was SO happy.. no one had ever asked him that before! It just so happened that this is one of my favorite Spidey covers too so we really bonded over it and he did a fantastic job.  The experience was wonderful, we became friends on facebook, and I was very saddened when he passed away just a few months after I'd framed the piece and put it up on my wall.  So yeah, it's not the original... but it's a really special piece to me..

Back from the framers . . . just waiting on the captions to be recreated. Excuse the glass reflection . . .

THE GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBAD (1973) movie poster painting by Brian Bysouth.

Original art size is about 37" x 27", so it's in a big frame.

I frame my art similar to yours with double matte, grey on top. The BW inked art seems to pop better than a black matte.

Agreed.  I do all my framing at AC Moore (not sure if those stores are national or just regional), but I think they do a nice job, and the guy who is charge of the framing department at my local store knows me well now and has all my framing specs saved.. so it's a very simple procedure when I bring a new piece in to be framed.
