I ran across these the other day and I don't think they were ever posted here

They look so fresh. :cloud9:

I think we sometimes forget that even the beautifully preserved Church and Allentown copies have 70-80 years of ageing to take a little of the shine off.

Found this on eBay, I'm thinking that's Action Comics #14. What else is there?

Looks like a Keen Detective Funnies 12 and a Tip Top 39 to the left of the Action 14. This picture must have been June, 1939. I don’t see any unsold Supe 1s or Tec 29s.

I think it is pretty cool to get comics from Santa for Christmas. Even cooler to have George Reeves help pass out comics.

The girl seemed only moderately pleased. I don't know if kids today would be satisfied enough to get just comics for Christmas.

Have a nice Christmas to everyone!

Today's NY Times had an interesting article showcasing a new online archive of NYC photos from 1940 taken for tax purposes. Here is the link to the photo archive:

NYC 1940 Photos

I bet if someone had the patience and the mind they might find some old newstand photos buried in there.

Not in the "real" wild, but the Hollywood version! (from 60s TV show "The Naked City". Burgess Meredith on the left)

That actually is "in the wild" as the show was shot on the streets of NYC.  I recall that scene from the Naked City DVD boxed set.  Burgess Meredith is in this shot, but it's no Hollywood set.  That was a real newsstand filmed during a chase scene in the show! (thumbsu
