Here's my copy.

Have you guys READ this one recently? I ask because this has a GREAT text article in the middle that is basically a "Guide to keeping your husband happy." Some of the advice is hilariously, near-offensively 1950's and sounds like it was written for Betty Draper. Much of the advice is actually very practical. Anyway, it is a very interesting read.

What? Like stay slim and workout?!

There's some of that, but there's also stuff like "read the newspaper so you aren't a boring conversationalist," or "get some hobbies so you aren't dependent on your husband for entertainment." I will dig out my copy and take a scan/photo when I get the chance.

Incidentally, is Love Confessions #54 a Baker cover? The OSPG says #53 is by Baker, but doesn't mention him for #54. The woman at left is very Bakerish.

I think it is Baker pencils. Here's another cool Baker cover:

Really strong results on the Teen Age Temptations 1!

$2,049 for an 8.5

This is now sitting on Metro's website for $2100.00!

Just one of those auctions where ComicConnect/Metropolis's shill bidding backfired on them and they got stuck with the book. Happens all the time there.

Your evidence is...? (I don't mean that rhetorically -- I really want to know what your evidence is.)

There's another one on their site from their last auction. Pictorial Romances #18 in 7.0.

I was the underbidder. It went for $480.00. It's now for sale at $650.00

And a couple dozen others. Books that supposedly "sold" at auction in the "CC dept."... and a couple of months later, they turn up in the "Metro dept.", usually at a 25% markup.

(You did realize that Metropolis and Comic Connect are the same racket, didn't you?)

These last few posts are either defamatory or a great lawsuit.

They are defamatory if Metro is legitimately bidding on lots put up for sale on ComicConnect, just like everyone else, for resale at a profit.

It's a great lawsuit if Metro is just trying to drive up prices realized on CC to generate greater fees, and occassionaly gets stuck with a book they really didn't want to win.

How can we know? A good question is how many lots Metro bids on an auction, and how often they end up the underbidder, as opposed to the winner.

I was not speaking figuratively when I said that Metro and CC are the same racket. Compare and contrast:

It's disconcerting to realize that the item you're bidding is being counter-bidded by the auction house, who want to realize a set price. A fair price in an auction is 2 or more interested parties bidding to achieve ownership of the item. Other-wise it is conflict of interest.

I thought New York had laws against such things. Texas doesn't, where Heritage resides.

I hope you will keep documenting this. This is the kind of stuff that turns people away from the hobby. Does Comic Connect have a searchable archive of its past auctions?

Okay, I have documented these two auctions and subsequent resales. See images. Is it possible that Comic Connect had non-paying bidders, or that there is some other explanation for these Comic Connect auction items that end up being sold on the Metropolis site?

Please post of any other such examples you find, whether at Comic Connect or elsewhere.

There are quite a few other examples that do end up on Metro's website. But, I don't think they have a policy in place for not bidding on the ComicConnect auctions. I guess they see these as two separate companies.

I didn't care to put any more effort into it than this, but here are some more examples, for those who are interested.

In each case, the original CC auction is listed first, followed by the current Metro listing.

Unfortunately, no. But I happen to still have most of those auctions for the Baker romance issues in my "watch list" there. I simply never deleted them after they ended.
