Here is mine. The price was right for a restored book, and the amount of work done was very little. There is a piece added to the bottom right corner which is the main area of color touch. Surprisingly the book was not cleaned. This could probably go up to a 9.0 with extensive work, but I would rather leave it as is.

Im 599 on the list but it is cgc cert now

Amazing Fantasy 15 1962 Marvel Comics Universal 0 0197705003 coverless

Did your copy receive a 0.5 or an NG?

By the way, the 599 refers to the page # in this thread (where you revealed you had a copy).

Made some further updates to the master list on the previous page.

CONGRATS to zarduzi & AnkurJ!!

Good stuff Cloudofwit.

Somewhere in this thread we talk about the total number of copies in existance of AF15.

I see by the census we are up slightly over 1800 copies.

What is everyone's guess?

5000?

10000?

:hi: Always good to see the founder of this thread posting.

I recall G.A.tor giving an estimate but don't remember what it was--or where it is.

I do recall one of the Overstreet Guides (in the early '90s, I think) giving an estimate of around 2,000 copies. We now know that was WAY off. I'd say there's no way there's less than 10,000. Maybe as many as 20,000? We'll await some others to chime in with more expertise/authority/data.

I don't think that it's unreasonable to assume that within the span of a decade-plus, CGC may have already slabbed 50% of existing copies. The interest in slabbing an AF #15 is sky high.

If there are 5,000 total copies left, that would mean 64% are left raw.

If there are 10,000 total copies left, that would mean 82% are left raw.

I find it extremely unlikely that 82% of all copies are raw. Look on eBay right now and I guarantee there will be more slabbed copies than raw, it's probably not even close. If ever there were a book to be slabbed, AF #15 is it.

So where does that leave us?

Strong logic, Wayne-tec.....It's have to say the universe of remaining copies is 3,500-4,000

My initial instinct was to say around 10,000 - 15,000 copies, but that doesn't seem to be too realistic. The majority of the copies we see made available are slabbed, at the very least over 50%.

If you doubled the total of slabbed copies, it would only total 3,600.

I think wayne tec is in the ball park at 10k copies...I believe I had at one point seen the print run somewhere in the 250K range?...surely 5-10% still exist today, as is the case with most early SA books...we were post paper drives, and already into the era of collecting...

the statement "the majority we see available are slabbed" is pretty indicative of the market...if folks decide to sell an AF15, they typically do slab it...but the number of copies "for sale" is not indicative of the number of copies out there that are raw that are "not for sale"

I know a collector in GA, that has (last time I was at his house) an entire short box of AF15's (all raw, probably 100+ of them)... I have seen hundreds of raw copies in travels, compared to maybe 10-20% that number slabbed

10K is probably a conservative # imo
