Very good points especially on the Bright grays and sieena browns. The scary part when buying online is that lots of times its photoshopped to give the bright grays. in this case, it looks like photos are not photoshopped. (thumbs u

(Years ago when raw, AF15s would sell for premiums when copies had bright grays, superior PQs, unscuffed sienna browns,

Based on these observations, the 8.0 that just ended on Clink is the better 8.0

Nice book but you can see the TONING effect on the cover. In other words, it's an "unwelcomed" dull brownish color instead of the "welcomed" bright gray. Many AF15s have this discoloration due to improper storage, heavy transfer stains, poor paper stock, etc. Focus on the bottom 1/4 inch grays then you can see the light tanning elsewhere. The PQ normally follows this pattern.

(Years ago when raw, AF15s would sell for premiums when copies had bright grays, superior PQs, unscuffed sienna browns, etc. Since slabbing, no one cares).

And that 8.0 on C-Link is slightly miscut top to bottom. That's the "shortest" top area (sienna brown area above the yellow letters) I've ever seen on an AF15. Not trimmed, just slightly miscut.

A very nice respectable 8.0 AF15, but not my cup of tea...:blahblah:

Without question, here's the nicest 8.0 in the U-verse...pressed up from a 7.0. I keep it in my "AF15 library" just for the heck of it. No, it's NOT mine.

The best of the WPer's and a simply-gorgeous example ! Yes, the pressing bothers me.

I put the latest C-Link copy for comparison. Oh, there is NO comparison !

Yeah, and understand I'm not thrashing the C-Link book (because it could be a fellow Boardies).

But if someone is considering spending > $50k on a nice AF15, don't get panicky (like I've done before)...consider waiting on the RIGHT example. I've probably seen more AF15s than....GAtor... :baiting:

It's cut differently...you can't say it's "mis"-cut if no major graphic elements on the front or back cover are cropped by the cut.

Yeah, maybe even "highly unusual" describes it best. Here is the bottom of the 8.0 currently on C-Link. I "red-lined" the point at which many AF15s end at the bottom (give or take a couple of mm's).

In my decades of looking at these puppies, I've never seen a 15 with that much gray at the bottom. (I'm surprised the bottom black margin line is not showing up). Interesting to see this lower artwork that we've never seen before on an AF15!!

That white pager is well preserved and preservation at it's best. I wonder what a Showcase 22 8.0 white pager would sell for? hm

It will take some time, but the value of the book will rise again... not sure it will move at THAT pace again, but it will rise again :)
:wishluck:

It will.

I am not saying it won't, but it could take years just to get back to where we "were"...

I know someone trying to sell a 7.0 that wants about 20% more than I suspect the market will bear... how long will that person have to wait just to break even...already been a year and they are still 20% down (shrug)
