:golfclap:Outstanding.  Nice nod to IH 340.  Beautiful piece.

Thanks!  Its just on a small piece of tracing paper but...I'll take it.

Marat does some hyper detailed prelims, so they come out great.

I think I'll get it framed up with the full comic to show the comparison.

I wanted to this the weekly auction that Heritage Auctions will be running from 6/11-6/18.  I had given Heritage some super rare Transformers #100 & G.I. Joe #200's with original sketches drawn on them to auction off.  These rare sketch cover books had originally come from Herb Trimpe's Estate.  In Herb's estate, we uncovered 70 copies of blank sketch covers of Transformers #100 and 79 copies of G.I. Joe #200.  These were all part of the original IDW print run and are noted inside all copies of the  book that month.  So, if your a completist, you need one of these!

I sold most of the blank Transformers #100's to people on these boards so that they could have them.  To date, I have only sold one copy G.I. Joe #200 as part of a charity auction I ran to benefit Patricia Trimpe.

These all come out of my personal collection - I thought it would be fun to commission some of Herb's contemporaries who also worked on the early issues of G.I. Joe and Transformers to do a cover.  Here are the auctions in which you can obtain copies of these rare books:

  • Michael Golden Megatron on Transformers #100 (Cover Artist to issue #2 of the Transformers Limited Series)

  • Mark Texeira Optimus Prime on Transformers #100 (Cover Artist to issues #3 & 4 of the Transformers Limited Series)

  • Bob McLeod Baroness on G.I. Joe #200 (Inker over Trimpe's pencils on G.I. Joe ARAH #1)

  • Mike Vosburg Baroness and Scarlett on G.I. Joe #200 (Regular penciler starting with G.I. Joe ARAH #9)

  • Steve Leialoha Snake Eyes on G.I. Joe#200 (Inker/finisher on the classic G.I. Joe ARAH #21 & #26)

Found a replacement copy of #133 which now I have both news stand and direct editions.  Just happened that way when looking for an upgrade of it.  Found also #132 and Mexico print of special missions #4 which is a whole $1500 :p which I bought just for fun lol  Now need a replacement of #17 and only need #129 to have all 155.  So close :)

GI JOE 21 CGC 9.6 Third Print Newsstand?

Has CGC made a mistake on this label?

I always thought the 3rd print was just a black spidey logo

I am curious about that as well.  Its a pain on certain books figuring it out.  To bad it wasn't a raw book to look inside and check since if it was a third printing it would be labeled as such inside.

Ran into a toy dealer I know locally and told him about the books I was looking for and he had a #17 which I will pick up on Wednesday.  One more to go.  Also saw a Special #1 online which I have been contemplating.

Anyone else grow up with GI Joe in the early/mid 1980's?   I almost forgot all about Star Wars during that time frame, as GI Joe really took over my interests.   It seemed like most of the boys in my grade school were hooked on GI Joe as well as it was a real phenomenon at that time.

Between the awesome toys & toy box artwork, comic books, & cartoons it probably is my best memory of being a kid around that time frame.  My question is, if you could pick only one (toys, comic, or cartoon) what was you favorite back then?  Tough call.  hm  Though I loved the comics & cartoon, I'd say the toys stimulated my imagination and brought me a lot of enjoyment.
