And yep fricken Pulled the Plug again yesterday I saw 🤬 If you personally wanna know the value of that book list it with a high reserve, one time. If reserve not met, you might learn what two people couldah, wouldah, shouldah pay. If reserve was actually met, than set a price you could very happily part with book for.

This individual is just playing or meddling in the Tmnt high-end funny book market.

=>
- Heritage 9.8 #1 still at $28,000....like pouring molasses out in February

- Just noticed dos 9.6 #1s on the Bay of e with best offers, not selling for above $26,27,28,29K

- 5 Days til C-Link’s 9.8 #1 comes forth

<=
- But one 9.8 #1 sold for $90,000 end of summer

- Turtlemania Golds are popping up, selling/almost selling for twice that of a 9.6

Same here. I watched it again with my son yesterday. I would be lying if I said that I didn’t shed a small tear the first time I watched it. Seeing Eastman and Laird hug, ink each other’s pieces, and talk shop was classic. They did a good job with the episode.

The Toys that Made Us Series, has a good way of showing the film to where you don't know "who they interviewed FIRST" if that makes sense, some of the people like Eastman and Laird seemed to react to the other even thought they "weren't in the same room" lol It makes it fun to watch :foryou:

"He wouldn't sell!" "I don't remember ever saying that!" "60 million!" ;)

I didn't know it either.

I was talking to artist Bryan Turner at NYCC this year and he said he was working on a Rise of the TMNT movie that will be on Netflix.  To date, I've yet to hear anything else on the subject.  He seemed to have intimate knowledge on the matter and I have no reason to doubt him...I just haven't gone looking for more info.  Pretty cool that Netflix will be putting out some TMNT content, though.

There may be a question in here somewhere...I imagine like most of us, I have lots of stuff - comics, magazines, toys, cards, etc. Sometimes I think I have too much stuff. I've started taking passes at my comic list, pulling random books that I don't want and selling them. That was maybe a short box and a half out of 30 or more short boxes. Then I started pulling runs that I don't really want anymore. One of the casualties was the ongoing TMNT series. When the series started, I really enjoyed it and had it on my pull list. I thought the artwork and stories got weaker over the years, and I was annoyed by all the minis, and I fell behind on my reading, later cancelled the pulls, and eventually sold the whole box of comics locally as a lot. Now I'm thinking of doing the same thing for the original TMNT run (perhaps keeping the early slabbed issues). I'm only missing ~5 issues for the full run (#1 and some random issues). I figure when I want to read the series start to finish, I'd just read the compendiums. Anyone else going through these changes in focus? I'm just finding the omnibuses more enjoyable to read, and they take up less space than bagged and boarded comics.

Totally natural.  Sometimes interests change.  Sometimes the thrill is in the hunt.  I know some people who collect runs for a few years, only to sell them all upon completing a run.

I'm pretty behind in the IDW series...back at issue 60 or so.  I've gotten them all digitally via Comixology, picking them up when the trades are on sale.  It's a cheap way to keep up on the series without taking up space.

As for the original run, IDW has pretty much been cranking out reprints since they got the license.  I like the Ultimate Edition hardcovers for my essential Volume 1 reading (though I might have something better and more custom to show off in a few days).  As for the loose copies, volume 1 is mostly guest issues with art and tone varying wildly throughout the series.  It's definitely not worth bending over backwards to own them all unless you genuinely enjoy them.  They don't all form a cohesive story, so missing some of the issues doesn't necessarily mean you're missing the story.

In all, don't collect out of obligation.  This hobby should be fun.  Collect what you like, unload what doesn't interest you.  Interests change over time.  It's fine.  I used to be a massive Spider-man fan but really lost steam in that area after the One More Day storyline.

As for the TMNT, I'm in it for the long haul.

Here's a pet project that's FINALLY finished

Professionally bound TMNT comics with imitation leather covers and a gold-colored embossed title logos.

The spine features the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" title along with volume number stamp and a custom shell stamp at the top with 2 panel lines on either side.

1749139650_BB02.thumb.jpg.81d16d65f3dc7208371ece06b165db91.jpg

The comics were all sized to give the book a very uniform profile.

I made up a table of contents for each book with a shell background and a font style reminiscent of the original cartoon.  Fans of the series know there were a lot of guest issues in the original run, which makes an official "canon" tricky.  For volumes 1+2, I tried to include the main narrative of volume 1 that starts with their origin and takes them through the end of the events of City at War (end of Volume 1), omitting any issue that didn't directly tie into this story.

2103306841_BB04.thumb.jpg.5ebe6afb288e192a8e6c285ea5da1a95.jpg1856461483_BB05.thumb.jpg.e7cc597fac8035b41f28829edaf932da.jpg

Volume 3 contains stories that are no doubt in the main canon of TMNT lore, but don't directly tie to the main narrative that involve the Turtles, the Foot, and the Utroms.  Many of these are more light-hearted adventures during the early years.  This includes the original run of Tales of the TMNT which introduces several longstanding characters like Leatherhead and Rat King.

287249606_BB06.thumb.jpg.23371a745a61c7020939c2d116f1d613.jpg

Volume 4 is a collection of stories from the original run that may or may not be part of any particular fan's canon, but they are good stories nonetheless.  Plus, due to some rights issues, The River has not been reprinted at all since Nickelodeon acquired the property, so even with all the modern collected editions, you won't find this story very often.

1760897221_BB07.thumb.jpg.be5f37c960a39dc195fc1af668edb88c.jpg

The final volume is a collection of stories/issues that contain good stories but generally weren't collected elsewhere by IDW (yet).  IDW did release an Ultimate Edition Hardcover collecting a lot of TMNT short stories.  I did my best to put stories in here that weren't readily available there.

1500138571_BB08.thumb.jpg.728062c13ed34ffae7a81821fdbafb20.jpg

To prep the books, I removed the staples.  With wraparound covers, I was able to get it bound in such a way to display the full cover.

One other nice feature is since these are original releases, they'll contain ads/previews/letters that aren't generally reprinted elsewhere, which is a fun bonus.

365808691_BB11.thumb.jpg.2dec45087b245b3e77e61fed62886c20.jpg

I am THRILLED to have these back.  It took a surprising amount of time to decide the stories to bind, how best to organize them, get the books, prep them, and send them to the bookbinder.  It has been quite the experience, but I'm very happy with the result.

That's awesome (thumbsu

The shell on the spine I love, the font table of contents is reminiscent, and they did a great job binding to show the full picture! ^^
