Quite pleased to find this on the shelf at Amoeba Records for a paltry sum. Somehow missed this one when it came out in 2012!

Picked up the first 2 issues of Chad In Amsterdam, a modern Underground.  Also purchased the original art for the cover of #2 from a Russian artist who posted it on her Instagram account.

Also, if you find this '94 spoken word double record, there's a parody of a Chick Track included.

Isn't that the Dan Clowes Chick parody from Eightball?

I believe it is from Dan Clowes, but wasn't familiar it was from the Eightball series.  Was it printed like so and included or was it reprinted with the record?

I can't say one way or another about the record, but I'm pretty sure Clowes had a bunch printed up as I used to buy Chick tracts and all the parodies I could lay my hands on from a dealer at APE every year, and I think I even got one from Clowes at one of his appearances i attended. The record connection is new to me. It originally appeared in the first issue of Eightball.

After the success of the Black Panther movie, I'm assuming people are going after the first Black hero character comic book?

The lady bought these... She's always loved Docs and the B&W pair do recall Zap style art. I thought they were too cool and really encouraged her (going so far as to pay for half).

I tried to post the pic I took on the Alternative and UG Facebook page but suspect it wasn't due to blurring the lines between advertising / sales 647496160_IMG_20190206_2107099882.thumb.jpg.f197e7591b3bcae517ea48a75808e2f9.jpg

Chuck R. posted pics. today on the facebook Fogel's page of his Underground Comix collection and I was rather surprised he posted a picture of himself in drag letting people know he goes across country performing in drag shows.  Very interesting man. Is this commonly known before and old news?

Yeah... It's been building for a while now. He's been actively involved with an organization that helps LGBT community youth for the past 2-3 years, last year he took a leadership role and hosted fundraisers and 1-2 drag shows. This year he stepped down from the equivalent of VP role and since has started performing drag under the name of Bettie Pages.

Here's some text from a Feb 22nd newsletter...

1,000 Silver Age Comics Arrive - X-MEN #1, more

Howdy!

Forty-five years ago, I voluntarily relinquished my full ride ROTC scholarship to live in a borrowed 1963 Chevrolet. I slept in the back seat on top of frying chicken boxes (the precursors to long whites...) for four months while traveling all across America in the hope of becoming a full time comic book retailer. I made $800 that summer, and that was the seed money that I used to open the first Mile High Comics retail store on September 30th, 1974. I made this truly life-changing decision to give up my scholarship when I was barely 19 years old.

1963 Chevrolet

I mention this oft-told bit of my personal history because it speaks to a fundamental characteristic of my personality. Simply put, I left the army not because I necessarily thought that I would necessarily be successful as a comics retailer, but rather that I choose to live a life of homelessness and abject poverty in preference to acceding to other people the power to force me to do as they wished.

Under 21 Drag Show Flyer

That core principle is particularly pertinent this week, as we have had a remarkably nasty group of homophobic people (most with fake profiles...) telling me online that they will never shop with us again because we are sponsoring a youth drag show next weekend here in Denver. If that is their position, then I have absolutely no problem with never seeing, or hearing, from them ever again. I truly do try to be understanding of divergent perspectives, and how/why someone else defines morality is entirely their own business. That having been said, under no circumstances will I ever allow someone else to tell me what I can, or cannot, do in my own life. I did not knuckle under to bullies when I was dirt poor, and I sure as heck will not capitulate today. If some of these haters choose to return to us at some later date, they will be greeted with love and understanding, as I hold no grudges over mere differences in opinion. Love is love. 'Nuff said.

This goes to show that you should always keep looiking even it it's been fore ever since the last one showed up.  In Jan. and Feb. there were 3 copies of Panter's the A S S individual_without_enough_empathy (1st print) that sold on eBay.  So if anyone here picked up multiple copies, I'm still looking for one.  There's a 2nd copy of 101 Views of the individual_without_enough_empathy up on eBay now, but the seller want's more than I've got to spend on it, even if it's one of a 100.

After my Freak Bros 12 purchase, I scoured the local store and bought a couple of undergrounds, which is odd for me these days.

I believe that 2 of the copies that sold earlier in the year were technically the second and third editions of Panter's As*hole. Both Miniature AH (stated 100 copies) and Microscopic AH (100 copies) were published in 1983, post Kennedy. I never handled any of the editions/printings, so I cannot say if there is a difference in size, page count etc. A definite viewing on-line tell is provided by viewing the inner front pages. In addition Miniature has a has a yellow/black checkered design on the back cover opposed to the first's white/black design. Another hunch that I have (maybe I am wrong) is that the book size decreases with each edition, hence Miniature and then Microscopic. For me these editions are a rare case of: "I would want to own a later edition over the first, if I only could have one", since the first had a run of 500 copies.
