* How I determine "status": recognition + popularity of book + popularity of character + value. Not everyone may agree with all placing, but it will be close. Books that are expensive, but not necessarily recognized (like Albedo #0 first printing variants) aren't going to be "major keys" and so forth. Likewise, a book may not necessarily be very expensive, but may be immensely popular, to be considered a "key" (a la X-Men #248.) Status can and has changed over the years.

I hear that CGC 9.8's are starting to flood the market soon on this book, with CGC 9.6s right behind it.

Not sure who I heard that from though. :baiting:

Still, a great book to find.

That list is tight. It looks like primer 2 is missing, though.

There are some super esoteric books missing, like Visions 1 and 2, Quadrant 1 etc. Overall an excellent list.

Edit: Visions is too early for this list and Quadrant is a magazine so I really may not have anything to add. Tried to see if he missed 1st Xenozoic Tales or 1st app of the Mask, but RMA is on it!

I think there should be a category between Major Keys and Keys, for stuff like X-Men 266 and New Mutants 87.

I agree with JC. Some books from the "Keys" list should be broken out. All in all, an excellent list, though. (thumbs u

yeah, I think there might be some call for that. Harbinger #1 isn't a major key, but it's much more of a key than New Mutants #98.

Primer #2 is a a 1982 book. Quadrant #1 is a 1983 book. Parameters were 1984-1992. (and I didn't include magazines, or Epic Illustrated #25-34 would be on the list. I also didn't include Taboo on purpose, but I probably should.)

What kind of amateur do you think I am...?

;)

oooo....I DID miss some books.

Creatures of the Id #1 - Semi-Key

Grafik Musik #1-4 - Issues of note

Graphique Musique #1-4 - Issues of note

Madman #1-3 - Issues of note

Madman Adventures #1 - Issue of note

(I forgot all about poor ol' Frank Einstein!)

Mayhem #1-4 - Issues of note

Silverback #1-3 - issues of note (I actually thought about these, they should be on the list.)

(shrug) Dazzler #1 to month prior to McSpidey #1.

When I get around to it, I'll do 1980-1983, too.

I can also do 1970-1979, and even Silver Age, but is a Silver Age list necessary? Doesn't everyone pretty much have the OPG for that?

Dark Horse Presents #1 - first Concrete

Dark Horse Presents #50?( #51?) - first Sin City

These 2 should at least be "semi-keys"

#51 is the 2nd Sin City

First Sin City is Dark Horse Presents Fifth Anniversary Special.

You know, I answered this yesterday, but I'm not sure where it went.

DHP #1 is in the "issues of note" section. There just isn't any demand for the book any more. DH 5th Anniversary Special (1st Sin City) is listed in semi-keys.

DHP #51-62 are listed. :)

I asked this in the other thread almost exactly like this one, but I thought TMNT 1 was the generally agreed upon first comic book of the Copper age (1984).
