Bob,

Thanks again for the June 2020 aggregate report.  Again very informative. Looking forward to the Conan picture frames coming up later this year.  The big stand out for me was the price that the Astonishing Tales #12 brought for the reasons that you had previously mentioned.  Low numbers in grade combined with the black picture frame and the quasi first appearance of Man-Thing in a comic book all point to an under-appreciated key of the bronze age.  Not really unexpected considering. Congratulations again on the prices realized.

No, I'm only selling what's left: the rest of the picture frame Marvel slabbed collection, the smattering of other slabs and copper age books that haven't been sold yet, and eventually the underground collection, the Marvel reprint collection, and the raw picture frame collection.  I started selling off the collection over 12 years ago now, and it feels good to have unburdened my aging self from so much heavy bulk, while raising liquidity for our retirement.

I know it's a tough black cover and all, but the hammer price for the Hulk #151 is pretty insane, did you actually watch the prices as the unfolded Bob? I would have been having palpitations watching that one, then cart wheel down the hall. :banana:

Yep, I watched the Thursday auctions as they closed.  I expected it to do very well being 1 of only 3 9.8 copies and arguably the best looking one of the lot, but thought the tough black cover, status as the single highest graded copy, and white paged perfectly square Western Pennsylvania pedigree would have made Hulk #145 the most expensive of my run.

It's always a thrill to see one of my books crush the previous GPA high.  :acclaim:

The only 3 books I need to have all the Hulk picture frames in 9.8 are 145, 151 and 158. With the move and new house I don’t think my wife would have been happy with me spending $5,700.00 to upgrade two books :(

Hopefully other copies will pop up before I die.

The auction of 77 high grade slabbed picture frame Marvels at ComicLink was a success for the seller.  The results resembled those back in March of the first batch of 79 comics: whereas the hammer prices on a number of books were either in line or below expected market value, a handful of books went for record GPA prices, making the overall result well above expectations.  One of the positive surprises was the Hero For Hire #1, discussed above as a possible upgrade candidate.  The other comics that crushed their previous GPA record prices were all scarce in ultra high grade and rarely come up for sale.
