Those poor souls that sold them to HPB.

I've been meaning to go by and search, but mine is kind of a mainstay with a lot of traffic. I'm kind of saving for a con, but I really don't want all those calendar coupons to go to waste.

It is a juxtaposition of tell me what you want what you really really want lol

This is what kills me. It's one thing for HPB to cluelessly sell me a hot book for $1. It's another to be the poor guy that sold it to HPB for about 5 cents. Holy smokes. One of our HPB's is in a relatively affluent part of town, so I just assume that the people selling there just don't care about the money, they're just dumping junk. I'm not complaining!

Well I took this hour to drive to the local HPB, no such luck on scoring the mother load lol

I did overhear a conversation by the guy who put's out books. He wasn't putting out books, but he was for some reason shuffling them around and taking some out and stacking them. Meanwhile, another employee came up and they were discussing some kid comic author, and where are those books located because people were looking as the author was going to make an appearance.....

run on sentence ??? lol

The guy who stacks the books was commenting that he had always wanted to "go to con's", but he thought that they were "too expensive and wanted to budget"

Then the guy who had walked up said, "Well your in the center of the action for this HPB anyway!"

In short :makepoint: the guy that "stacks the books", does in fact "stack the books!" (:

Dunno if anyone remembers this pile of boxes I bought last year for $700?

Well after sorting etc some have gotten back from CGC

25 slabs with about another 20 to come.

I totally get that these are not biggies compared to what you guys find in the states, but to find these in a dirty garage in suburban Australia - well I'm quite chuffed!

Thanks for looking!

That's AWESOME, especially considering the cost to have them shipped for slabbing, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! :foryou:

Don't overestimate the ease that any of us have finding scores in the states. They're drying up. Pretty amazing getting some nearly 40 year old 9.8s out of your find.

Nice little group courtesy of HPB yesterday. At a buck a pop, these Sonics should do very well for me, and I was surprised by what the Tec Countdown sets are selling for now.

I was asked if I snagged any other 9.8's from the boxes above - so here they are!

That's the lot from this box from CGC - there are a couple in the other - but that will be some time away.

Again, thanks for looking!

Beautiful. That's prime Batman for me. Terrific books.

Bargain digging at a LCS. The "Read" is from 1975 and has a story about Marvel comics. Last issue of FOOM. Age of X-Men Alpha 1:100 George Perez variant in the dollar box...makes me really wonder about modern print runs and "rarity" of modern variants. Really cool unused Fantastic Four fun with numbers book. Fantastic Four Marvel Comics Index (I'd be looking to trade for the Conan Marvel Comics Index if anyone is interested).

That's crazy with that 1:100!

Does anyone else think it's unfair for Reed to be doing a workbook with the others?

Kinda of like Einstein competing with Kindergartners! :roflmao:

The Hank Aaron figure is a Hartland from late ‘50’s. Missing bat but easily got on eBay. The Lonsome Pine trailer is a Marx toy from the ‘30’s. Came with a pressed steel streamlined car. Have a complete one in my collection. Both are fast sellers at shows. The Indian Motorcycle patch is the real winner I think. Large and probably ‘20’s/‘30’s. Made of heavy felt. Did a quick google search and couldn’t find any thing comparable. I will have to dig into it further. Great piece and in high demand. Rarely see much early Indian stuff.
