Not every weekend is a winner. Friday night I search the ads and get my schedule together for Saturday morning. First yard sale advertises comics, starts at 7 AM. I get there at 6:52. I look around, don't see any comics. I ask if they have comics, and I'm told, "It's not quite 7 yet. We are still setting up." So I look around, pick up some toys for the kids. After 7, I ask if the comics are available, and I'm told, "No, I didn't have time to get them ready." Get the toys for the kids and the one book below. Go the second yard sale that advertised comics, about 30 minutes away. The problem - there's no yard sale. I guess they just decided not to do the yard sale. Had a good haul last weekend, though. This week, just one Star Wars book.

Wow, flashback- I had that as a kid.

Got this stuff from a garage sale this morning. No comics, but thought these were worth picking up at what the old guy was asking. The Dummy Rifle Gernade is especially cool. Pretty sure the medals have pretty low value but it was a package deal. Anybody out there know anything about them?

Yesterday $15 liberated this pile of drek from a 14 yr old and an irate Dad who apparently had warned him to clean his room up.

A LOT of Drek, but the odd nice book. Some Spidey/Venom, Spidey/Doc Ock, Spidey/Wolvie  tuns, some Team-Ups, one key (Cloak and Dagger), the ASM #36 Black, and Wolvie #4 (alas #1-#3 were not to be seen - maybe he'd cleaned them up?)

Plus a heap of Mad mags - I thought people might hold on to them as the mag had finished, but seems like they are being dumped.

I assume these mags were the ones included with model figures?

If not, what are they from?

Thanks!

These are definitely Marvel Legends reprints.  MyComicShop does a good job of documenting where these came from.

UXM 133 - Marvel Legends Series III Wolverine
UXM 213 - Marvel Legends Series VI Wolverine
Cable 73 - Marvel Legends Series VI Cable
X-Men 3 - Marvel Legends Series IV Beast

Below is a pic I lifted off eBay to give you an idea of how these things were packaged up:

Showcase and Macross were very reasonably priced. 50 cents each for the rest - beat up Phantom #4, early Brian Michael Bendis, and Blade appearance.

I understood Spunky Todd to be Bendis' first published work.  Written and drawn.  It's absolutely putrid.

According to MCS, Quivers was published a year earlier:

Quivers (1991) #1

Published 1991 by Caliber.

Story, art and cover by Brian Michael Bendis. The very first published comics work from future Marvel architect Brian Michael Bendis. A woman whos having boyfriend trouble meets the descendants of the legendary Amazon women of old. 44 pages, B&W. Mature readers. Cover price $2.95

Turns out one of the Vol2 Spideys was the News Stand Variant of #36. God knows how it ended up on Australia.

Some of my finds at Tucson Comic Con this weekend. Very happy with what I paid for everything. I'm not sure what those cardboard things are. They look like the style of the the standees from the 90s, but they are not standees. The bottoms are too wide to really hold in a fist. Guy said they were from a comic shop. I've never seen the pennant before either. I can't say I'm a huge Alpha Flight fan, but this was just too strange to pass up. I also picked up a bunch of buttons. I think one is marked as made by Comic Images (likely the same company that made the cardboard things, and definitely made the standees). A nice variety, X-Men, GI Joe, Robotech, and Creepshow.
