No wonder he was going out of business.

He also didn’t have change. 

The Sandman and Thor pic is what I found at the going out of business sale, plus a Moon Knight  #15 (Miller cover).

Other pics are what I found at a Black Friday $1 sale also in LA. A few I would have liked to find a few months ago, but still good for a buck.

I went to a comic book show yesterday, and there was a dealer who had a few longboxes of stuff they hadn't gotten around to pricing yet, as they were new arrivals. I usually don't like that sort of thing, but I decided to take a look at the one box that wasn't already being poured over by other dealers.

I found this in the box and said, "I gotta ask, how much?"

He said, "Oh, it's in pretty bad shape. How about $10?"

I was especially excited because I was working on a full run of Dr. Strange but kind of gave up because the movie put this out of my price range. Now I can actually finish it!

Glad you had the guts to ask and that you needed it  

I remember when I got back into collecting, Half Price Books had a copy of this issue in raw 2.0/2.5 or something and it was priced comfortably..... well before any of the "news" of movies I think, back in 2012-14 don't remember exactly, I woulda shoulda coulda  I didn't really even know it was a key issue, but it was only like $2-300

Responded to a craigslist ad and got these at a great price. Started talking to the guy. Turns out, he had 200 magazines on CL earlier and nobody responded, so he sold them to a used book store for $65. I didn't have the heart to ask what he sold, but he just wanted them gone.

A guy had some cool vintage paperbacks. Grabbed these and was going back for a second look when a guy bought the rest as a lot. Pretty sure I got the best ones.

And it pays to know dealers out there. One of my antique dealer buddies found the Fighting Yank and Donald Duck in a house cleanout. He said they were the only two he found but isn’t done yet. 

The Paul Terry came from a random lady with a few beat Looney Tunes and humor books. This one was probably the best shape. And, as luck would have it, one of only just a handful of “Fish in the Face” covers I know of!

The weirdest part was it wasn't like it was mispriced or something. There was no price on it at all, so I had to ask for the price. They held it and looked it over! 

I dunno. 

I also got a nice mid-grade Strange Tales #169 with the 1st Brother Voodoo from them for $5, but while that was a very nice deal too, it sort of takes a very back seat to this one.

Picked up an awesome 3000+ collection last month. Lots of good stuff, signed, variants, Graded, and more. Most of the graded stuff was from a different company though so I guess no pics of those
