Got out a little this weekend. Nothing earthshaking but 5 dollar comics, one $10. comic, 2 $5. Books and a vintage redline Hot Wheel for a buck!

Nice to get to go shopping again!

Glad to see you out and about! I've found it joyful as well, the small purchases or just venturing out to score :) slow and steady.

Still glad you were rewarded :x

Thanks. Sure was good to get out, get some excercise, and see some friends. Finding a few things was just a bonus.

Auction Sat....ended up with around 3 boxes of comics, some toys, paperbacks and miscellaneous stuff....the Superhero/Star Wars 1970's Wallpaper were some of my favorite buys of the day!

The 25th anniversary Marvel poster can go upwards of a couple hundred bucks....

And a couple 1984 Marvel wall hangings....

Those are the type of finds I live for... once you have all the comics, the focus switches to collecting vintage comic-related collectibles

Update.  I've chatted with the seller of that lot, I'm thinking next week we'll sit down and submit the AF 15 to CGC.  He's still looking to maximize the sale as a lot, and we will more than likely send these other books off to CGC, but for now this is the plan.  As of right now, consigning/working with the owners is probably for the best for me, and I'm hoping the trust we develop leverages into my other career (I work in real estate).  As promised, these are the top books!

There's other books not pictured, solid DD1, big runs of ASM (including a decent 50), big Xmen run with a very nice 5 and 12, TTA run (very nice 44).  It's crazy that AF15 has been sitting in an old bag and board for all these years!  lol

They are beautiful, but these will not be sold cheap.  Once I get the full details together, I will be soliciting bids from dealers/companies, and then I will find out who offers what.  ;)

Is this find of yours from an estate sale, garage sale, flea market or antique mall?

I posted more details a few pages back....in short I came in contact with the seller of books in his possession since the 60s/70s.  I'm working with the seller and will post details as I go.

When do you have all the comics? I’ve been collecting 50 years and still buying them...:roflmao:

But I know what you mean. Along the way, I’ve collected a ton of the “other stuff” as well.

Good eye. Not a Beatnik Bandit but a Sand Crab. I know westerns are “out of fashion”, but the LR book was from 1934, perfect shape with dust jacket and only $5.

The Unknown Worlds was a lucky score. I walked up and there was already a young guy looking through the box. The box was full of all kinds of comics. Usually a bad sign. He had pulled a few moderns that didn’t look like much and I saw him just flip this one.

Guy had some early UGs and the kid asked me if they were any good. 35 cent cover Zap #0 and others. I told him they might be good but had to look through them. He had a small pile and asked prices. The guy said the UGs were $200-400 and the Zap was a grand! The moderns were $5 each and a 1961 Detective in low grade $75. He passed and left.

I pulled out the Unknown Worlds and asked expecting the worst. He told me too bad it wasn’t a superhero book and said $15. I said yeah, too bad and pulled out a 10 dollar bill, showed it to him and he grabbed it. Both these guys were clueless.

Just goes to show you, just because you are the second guy on the box, you don’t always lose out.

I was able to pick up some random items this week:

Some $1 pulls. The Joe comics are from the action figures, including the GI Joe #21 Silent Interlude reprint and #21B, which tells a different part of the Silent Interlude story.

A few bucks a piece:

Trading cards. The GI Joe binder is a keeper. Mail away exclusive from 1991 with the original "Impel" (the company that produced the cards) trading card sheets and mail away checklist. Got the homemade Jurassic Park binder from the same buyer with the almost complete set. There was a lot of love that went into that Jurassic Park binder. Bought the two unopened boxes of Joe cards from a different person. The Marvel Mazes book is really cool. From 1978, each maze has a 1-3 comic page intro where the maze is the conclusion to the story. A few were completed in pencil and a few in red pen.

Finally, two unopened 3 packs from the 90s. I've really started to enjoy these recently.

Is the NM 87 the gold version?  Or a legit 1st?

Yard sales are starting up again. I was able to pick up these two book racks in beautiful shape for a whopping $10 total. One day when I upgrade to a bigger office I'll make custom toppers for old sci-fi and fantasy books.

Great find.  I'd love to have a small motor that would rotate them very slowly.
