Facebook marketplace.  Seller wanted $100/box and had just the pic of the boxes.  It was an all or none deal.  I asked if he had any keys, said he didn’t know values and had no interest in looking them up.  Asked where he got them and said various comic shops all over town over the years.  I agreed to buy.  Drove 90 minutes.  Popped lid on one box and decided it was a deal.  Box was full of Batman books from 80s/90s.  Got home started sorting and discovered that I had a full run of ASM from about 280-400.

You agreed to buy sight unseen before knowing what any of the boxes were?

Not exactly this thread's purpose but closest thing to without starting a new thread in the general or gold sections.

Working with a seller and these are the pics I have...assume low grade. Bunch of cool books, but nothing especially valuable jumps out at me. Then again, I'm not good at deciphering portions of books from a distance... Tempted to make an offer on the lot, but volume isn't my thing. Appears to be a bunch of <$100 books...

Any of you folks spot something?

Absolutely nothing there Patrick ... in fact, I know of a Canadian address that takes care of junk like this ... PM me for details.

Not a garage sale or flea market find but in the garbage. Someone dumped boxes of old magazines and stuff next to a dumpster near my house and I went to check it out when I was walking the pooch. There were a ton of 70s and 80s stuff, sears catalogs, redbook magazines, coloring books, some toys, but everything was water damaged or chewed on and pooped on by mice. This is all I could salvage out of it all...

There’s an unfortunate amount of collectors who simply won’t understand or appreciate the value of these

All due respect, if you look at a lot like that and say "volume isnt my thing," I'm rather glad you didnt get it.

Love it when people say "all due respect" right before expressing disrespect. I'd caution you on making assumptions... Regardless, I'm thrilled you found joy in my failed pursuit. (thumbsu
