I purchased a few items from a sci-fi/fantasy collector selling his personal collection. I found this inside a science fiction fanzine from 1978. It looks like a legit Boris Vallejo signature to me, and I assume this is Conan head sketch. I don't really want to email the seller and ask, but I'd love to know the story behind it. (shrug)

Doesn't even remotely look like Boris's signature

The only thing my wife knows about comics is that her husband has an unhealthy obsession with them. Nevertheless, she grabbed these for me when she saw them at a local thrift store but was concerned she may have overpaid - $4 for the lot.

And a 75cent Canadian edition on one of those #2s to boot!

If those were there I would go back to see if there are other gems she overlooked

While I was frantically grabbing my jacket and car keys she calmly informed me they were the only comics there. Apparently they were on top of a box filled with magazines someone had donated. She checked the box and found only one other comic - a beat up X-Men and Teen Titans #1 (which she also bought).

Local antique store pickups today. Lots of fun inside this box. And the Fireball XL-5 lunchbox is all Wallace Wood art!

They we’re putting out a box of modern comics when I got there. Did a look through but didn’t buy any due to my total lack of knowledge about them.

Now, if only covid would leave, I could take them out to sell...

I really doubt my two grand daughters would care about this. They are "girly" girls.

I remember when I was about 10 my parents bought me and my little brother one of these Marx Playsets. It was a military one. Anzio Beach? I remember it had a couple of tin buildings, tanks, airplanes, cannons and a ton of army men. We took it out in the back yard and made a "battlefield". Played the hell out of it.

Well, lets go from kids stuff to Adult stuff.....   :whatthe:

Australian Playboys in really, really good order, (most like new) with quite a few celeb issues (not the ultra expensive Danni Minogue one sadly) - 170 of them, plus 10 Modern reprint Western thingys (which I have no idea about.)

Total Cost - $350 USD

Who is Dannii Minogue and how much does that issue bring?

Sold for over $400 on ebay

Usually $250 - $300

She really does look great to be fair. The most expensive Aussie Playboy ever.

I'm just waiting for a seller to have a massive haul of books, invite someone over, have them spend all their time cherry-picking and grabbing books and then at the end say "thanks for telling me what I should look up!  Have a goodnight!"  :D

That happened to me once.  Once.  After I dug everything out he whipped out an overstreet.  It was right about then that I walked.

Quite a few dealers have adopted this methodology with the “because prices change I reserve the right to update my price before selling” type disclaimers. Essentially having customers do a big part of their job for them (aka staying on top of their inventory). I mean, I get it...but...still annoying.
