I really wish my account merge would go through, but in the meantime --

In short, my wife runs an E-bay store and is always at auctions and estate sales to find cool stuff to resell.

We shy away from the collectible market, it's just too finicky.  However, she makes a killing selling parts, be it appliances, electronics, and all kinds of things that break. Linens, cross-stitch kits, and all kinds of odds and ends. She loves buying carloads of box lots, which while I may raise an eyebrow at quite a few things, she's never wrong and makes 300%+ profit on many many things. So, combine that with the fact that she has never ever given me any grief over my comic collecting and guitar addiction, I won't ever say a word to her about it.

So, last weekend she texts me from the auction with one pic of an early Vampirella mag, and says they have a whole paper box of them, should she get them.... well, duh. So this was most of what was in the box she bid up and won for a whopping $47 --

There was also a box of Mad magazines.. at first she said late 70's....turned out later they were mostly late 60's. That box went for $68, and she stopped bidding because she could just tell the other guy wanted them more and would have kept bidding them up.

We don't come across stuff like this out here in the country too often, so it was a nice surprise!

That is awesome. Great pick up.

Awesome!! And the coupon is still intact on the back cover :) It has survived 50+ years of temptation lol

lol I had my eye on that ukulele.. took everything I had not to send it in..

I was intrigued by the "1967" written in pen on the top of that offer.

If only someone could salve that mystery.

That's tremendous. What issue of Weird Tales is that?

I was at one of my local comics shops on Friday discussing with the owner about a finders fee if he calls me when collections walk in the door he can't move or doesn't want to deal with.  He took my card and in walks a guy literally that second who wanted to see if they would buy some old playboys and some comics.  The owner says "we don't deal in porn" but wants to look at the comics.  He leaves and I go out and watch the guy from my car digging thru this huge box in a truck and pulls out 5 or 6 comics.  The guy goes in to the shop and is back out in a couple minutes with the comics still in hand.  I pop out and say "I love selling old "porn"".  He has about 80 old Playboys and Penthouses from 1958-1975 and some cool chopper mags jammed into this huge tub.  I offer him $60 for the tub and he seems happy to get rid of it.  I didnt really feel bad about making the offer since the comic shop owner had already passed.  I've just got done sorting thru them and some are a bit rough and half are missing the center folds but still a cool find at a good price.  My wife was shocked at how tame the 1960s girlie mags were back in the day but it was a different era.  Anyhow - here are some pics

Thanks, I was stoked for sure! It looks like the Weird Tales is Vol. 44 #4, from May, 1952.
