Gotta be some D&D folks here. There were a few random comics in the lot as well so I say this one counts.

Saw a post on Facebook marketplace for a lot of D&D items. A couple box sets, some modules/hardcovers, and a bunch of Dragon magazines were pictured. Enough for me and some fun stuff if that was it so I went to check it out. There was quite a bit more as it turned out

Parents were downsizing to a retirement community and the son whose stuff this was is out west, so time to sell. I didn't look close when I was there but once home... wow.

The boxes and modules in the 3rd pic are mostly sealed. The Illuminati sets are sealed. Had no idea what they were. Some really great stuff!

Wow, very nice haul! I love the art in those old materials...I have the core books from AD&D, but have always been on the lookout for others.

Wow. Been trying to re-acquire an original Monster Manual to fill out my set. They ain't cheap.

On another note - if my parents sold my D&D stuff while I was away, even if I'd gone on a mining survey to Pluto, it would be the last thing they did as living entities. Just saying...

Seriously though, nice haul. (thumbsu

I recognized that one right away. I'm not sure if mine is an original, but the cover of mine is the same as that Monster Manual shown. I did buy my copy in either '81 or '82. Now my daughter wants to play D & D so I've got to figure out how to be a Dungeon Master all over again as it's been over 35 years since I've done it. I'm so used to playing these types of games on the PC that going to paper and pencil will really be a trip down the old memory lane.

I remember 2.5 years ago at a moving sale down my street I bought a D&D Basic Set In Search of Unknown Module 2nd Ed 1978 for $5 the box was in fantastic shape and complete! Too bad I sold it relatively on the lower end compared to todays prices. Good times.. I know factory sealed is kings ransom money

As a kid I always loved the idea of D&D, but never had the patience to actually play it. I read the books, bought the manuals to read, the trading cards, played the C64 games (loved Pools of Radiance) and all of that. But could never get into the game, I never saw the point ha

Now, I'm 43, and when quarantine started, my friends started playing via Zoom. We do it every Sunday night, and it's a blast! We use DNDBeyond to track our character sheets, roll dice, etc. What fun. It has me nostalgic and looking into picking up some of this old stuff again. Great score!

I love the D&D stuff getting posted. I did start a thread some time ago in Comics General about This Week in Your Board Game, RPG, and Other Game Thread. Something like like. End of my shameless plug.

Here's my meager find from earlier this week. It included 20+ sets of dice with the books and cases.

Same here. If you bought yours in '81 or '82 it's certainly from the original run. May not be a first edition, but definitely original. I think I left mine at a friend's house before going away for the summer & never managed to get it back (Jeff Donahoe, I'm looking at you). All the rest of my set are held together with tape & drawn in, etc.. Used and abused.

Same here again. Luckily, she's got interested friends & one of them is happy to DM. I could never step that far out of the game; hated being DM.

I went for a comic spinner rack, no luck. Guy from out of state got it so I walked away soaked to the bone and nothing to show for it hehe.

Well, (hopefully) there will be a next time :wishluck:

In the spirit of the bump and ..... Lol

I went by the movie dvd place where I often find newsstands also they used to have cgc boxes..... Now only comic boxes.... So didn't get to use my buy one get one free under $20 coupon. Man that's a lot of qualifiers. :roflmao:

So a little discouraged...

I went to the LCS.... As the dvd place, lcs, and half price books are all in the same 10 block circle (not all bad) lol

To look around, asked about a cgc slab box and they said no they don't carry them

I saw this artgerm punchline poster and said do y'all still need that? It's an older poster that they had for the comics launch, and they said they meant to take it down today to put up a new joker one. When they took it down the guy (michael) folded it and gave it to me lol

It's so perfect, it already had holes in it and everything so up on the wall above my desk it goes! ^^

ya it's the nerd room haha, it's got the game systems and my arcade 1up, I just use it for my computer desk as well. It's a "family" room, but does have a bed that I've crashed on more than once......

Who needs a "guest room" lol IT'S MINE ALL MINE!!! :roflmao:

Some items had multiples so there's 2 Monster Manuals. There were several releases and these are both 4th edition. Not sure why he had multiples such as...

Ahhhhh.....1970's D&D.  I had all the hardcovers, including the one you picture above.  Even though we had Atari 2600 and Inellivision, we still made time for a quest.  Simpler times.
