It's a ways off, but I think since people are asking about (and others promoting) 2010 shows that I should take some time to remind you about FAN EXPO CANADA™.

FAN EXPO CANADA™

AUGUST 27-29, 2010

Metro Toronto Convention Centre

Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Taking place on our traditional end of summer dates - the last weekend of August - Fan Expo Canada™ is the largest comic book event in Canada and, with attendance just shy of 60,000 fans in 2009, was the third largest comic book show in North America.

Celebrating it's 16th year - Fan Expo Canada's™ Comic Book Expo attracts many of the top international comic book creators - in past years we have seen Joe Quesada, Jim Lee, Alex Ross, Ethan Van Sciver, Frank Quitely, Tim Sale, The Romitas, Brian Bolland, Dan Didio, Gabrielle Dell'Otto, Ivan Reis, David Finch, J. Scott Campbell, The Kuberts, Steve McNiven, J. Michael Straczynski, Chris Bachalo, Marc Silvestri, Kevin Smith, Geoff Johns, Brian Michael Bendis, Terry Dodson, Matt Fraction, Alex Maleev, Len Wein, Keith Giffen and many, MANY more over the years...

The top featured guests are spotlighted in a special comic signing area (on the other side of the room from the celebrity guests). Our exclusive programming schedule features Q&A's, company spotlights, creator spotlights, sketch duels (a Fan Expo Canada™ exclusive) and how-to workshops with top industry professionals. Whether it's a Cup of Joe or CB, or a visit to the DC Nation, Fan Expo Canada™ is the place to interact with the top comics publishers and be the first to learn about new projects!

It is also the home of the best that Canadian comics has to offer with hundreds of Canada's top creators including creators like David Finch, Darwyn Cooke, Francis Manapul, Yanick Paquette, Cameron Stewart, Karl Kerschl, Alvin Lee, Tom Grummett and Dale Keown who all appeared at the Expo last year. Our artist alley and guest area is one of the biggest on the convention circuit, featuring hundreds of creators.

Fan Expo Canada™ is also host to many of the industry's top publishers: including MARVEL, DC, BOOM!, UDON, ASPEN MLT, MIRAGE STUDIOS & AVATAR PRESS. Many companies also do exclusive comics with us --- last year Marvel, Boom! and IDW provided exclusive variants.

Here's last year's guest list for comics: http://www.hobbystar.com/fanexpo/index.php?/comicbook/guests

2010 will be no exception. The Fan Expo Canada™ comic book guest list is always a highlight of any convention year, featuring the ONLY convention appearances of many professional guests. Our International guest coordinator TIZIANO DE SANTIS is out there making arrangements right now for some amazing industry pros to appear at Fan Expo Canada's™ 2010 show, and we invite guests from all over the world to attend the Comic Book Expo for you to meet! Guests are traditionally announced in MAY.

Fan Expo Canada™ has a massive dealer area - comics dealers, stores and independents, make up a large percentage of our show floor. For out of town attendees, only a small percentage of these exhibitors are the same dealers that you will find setting up at other conventions. That means different stock, different deals.

But that's not all...

Fan Expo Canada™ is also the home to:

The Canadian Anime Expo featuring the top voice actors and exclusive screenings.

The Sci-Fi Expo featuring some of the top celebrity guests in sci-fi like last year's guest of honour Leonard Nimoy. The 501st Legion has a massive presence at the Expo.

The Rue Morgue Festival of Fear featuring the top celebrity guests and writers in horror movies and books, like last year's guest of honour Bruce Campbell.

The Gaming Expo featuring game play for all sorts of different types of gaming, including large displays and interactive exhibits from the top video game companies.

The Masquerade is one of the largest ones in North America, featuring some incredible costumes.

Fan Expo Canada™ staff work hard to make sure that each section of the show have their own areas and domains, although attendees are free to wander throughout the event to see whatever interests them, but if you are there just for comics, then the comics areas are well defined.

And finally... Fan Expo Canada™ is held in TORONTO, CANADA... one of the top tourist destinations in North America, during one of the nicest times of the year, weather-wise (not cold at all, not too hot). Toronto is a clean, vibrant city that often reminds people of the best parts of Manhattan and downtown Chicago. The Metro Toronto Convention Centre is a beautiful facility, right in the heart of downtown and within walking distance to many hotels, restaurants, bars, clubs, theatres, shopping, etc. There's also lots of adjacent parking and access to public transit.

Bonne annee Kevin,

Never been to a Toronto comicon before. Looks great!

Vancouver is dysfunctional and can't even put together a 2 day comic/anime show and break even. The biggest new downtown Vancouver convention building invited Aman G. to fly in and expand his con into greggy-town. :wishluck:

Cool! We're lining up some awesome guests for this year --- the announcements won't come until the spring but I think a lot of you will be very happy!

If all goes well we will be announcing the guest list for June 5-6's annual Fan Appreciation con at the February 28th Toronto ComiCON.

we actually got married on halloween last year we missed last years con to be able to pay for it, our reception was a costume party, so a convention as our honeymoon just fit.

it was actually my wifes idea to do the honeymoon at the con, she loves it ive been going for years brought her a few times . I even tried to get her to get married at the con, but she wasent up with that.

We live in ontario so this is just a weekend away but its somthing we enjoy, and know we will get our moneys worth unlike a trip or niagera falls.

We don't care who will be there guest wise we just like the atmosphere, for our 5 years were going to go to san diago or where ever it will be then.

Were doing nothing else all summer this is our big event and it will be worth it.

its also to celebrate me being 10years cancer free
