I meant stores as in not a used year 2000 scanner not in production anymore

Right, I understand.  You need a scanner with CCD technology.  Everything you can generally get at Best Buy or Staples or any other B&M store is not made with CCD.  Here is a scanner that is brand new, still in production, big enough to scan a slabbed comic and also is a CCD scanner: https://epson.com/For-Work/Scanners/Document-Scanners/Epson-WorkForce-DS-50000-Color-Document-Scanner/p/B11B204121

If you want to look it up yourself, you need to find a scanner that can scan this size: Maximum Scan Area:11.7" x 17 and also has CCD as its scanning technology.

I need to get one of these so I can start selling some CGC comics.  I have some duplicates, and some genres that I have lost interest in.  Most are Golden Age - which it sounds like typically have more of a glare problem.  I have searched ebay for all the models in the list above.  This will have to go to my desktop computer with Windows 10.  Here are some current options - anything look good?

HP 8300 NEW for $250

Microtek 9600 used for $175

HP 7400C - looks kind of beat up - for about $50

Or, I could wait for another Epson GT-15000 to come up - looks like they go for about $350 used.

Don't know about the other models, but I've been very happy with the HP ScanJet 8300 that I found on eBay a couple of years ago. It was "new old stock" still in the box, never opened or used. With VueScan software, it's been doing a great job on slabs, sometimes with a bit of glare, but not bad.

Anyone have a suggestion for an all in one printer/scanner that’s good for scanning slabs? Preferably CCD technology

I don’t think there are any all in ones. The size you need to scan a slab is pretty big compared to the ones that all in ones come with. I just got an Epson GT-15000 and it’s huge.

I’m assuming it is the norm to use the vuescan software with this? I found one for a couple hundred bucks on eBay, and have been in desperate need of a scanner that can handle CGC slabs.

Just to clarify...any scanner using CIS technology is no good for scanning slabbed books, correct?

Also, does anyone have a list of current scanners or all-in-ones that use CCD and can fit the CGC books? I just contacted Epson and I was told that none of their current CCD models can fit anything bigger than 8.5x11...except for a graphic arts scanner that is well over $2000.

1) Correct

2) See below for older models that can scan CGC slabs (CCD format).

Here is a list(Thanks Sharon!) from this thread of scanners that people have confirmed as compatible for slabs using the CCD format, many suggest using Vuescan for best editing tool.

Epson GT-2000

HP 7310

HP 7400 (7710 is the actual number for a search)

HP 7410 All-in-one.

HP 7780 AIO

HP Scanjet 8200

HP 8250

HP 8300

HP 8350

HP 8390 (according to HP specs)

Microtek Scanmaker i800 plus

Microtek V6UPL

Microteks 9600-9700-9800

Most new off the shelf units are CIS format, will be blurry(see HP 8600 example above). Editing will not eliminate the blurriness.

New scanners that work (CCD) samples posted in this thread

EPSON DS-50000 new $1300+

EPSON GT-15000 pre-owned $300-1000
