Super happy with this pair of Spirou 1071 (First Smurfs appearance) & 1072 (First Smurfs cover) from 1958 ! Certainly the best copies I have found in the last four years... and I used to own a CGC 9.2 copy of Spirou 1071. Hope the CGC gods will be in a good mood when they grade these

I've been craving this with a Romita sig I liked for the longest time. I was lucky to find a good wrap white pager. I think this with 50 70 and 151 are his top 4 covers

I got them from a collector in Belgium. He was selling other Spirou from the 50s, I asked if he had those... and got lucky (did cost a pretty penny because he knew what he was selling!)

I  have been after a higher grade version of this book for years. Due to paper quality and it being from Germany in 1966 there just are not good examples of it to be found easily. I had the only graded copy for the longest time, but several years ago sold it to a collector back in Germany. That one was a lone census CGC 4.5.  It still to date is the only graded copy. It was the first time Superman appeared in comic format in Germany.  I finally found one , that from the photographs would be higher and promptly bought it in November.  I thought it was lost, but today this arrived.  I could not be happier.

Received this one today. Bought it as I have only seen a couple of examples of similar books and this is the lone census version of the Superman book. I would love to find more information about it. The only information I have found so far was from two previous Heritage Auctions with similar books.  What i find interesting is that the interior is Action Comics 253 ( wish it was 252..) Still happy to have acquired this one.

Cool book, but no, 4 staples were not the norm for subscription copies. Something ain't right there.
