Heritage will auction off the Larson Tec 36

It had Mod resto work done. Does anyone know of any other Larson(s) (from the entire collection) that had so much resto work done ?

I know the Larson Tec 35 was cleaned but that is it. Sits in a Conserved holder today.

Well, that's definitely very interesting in terms of the grades as compared to what shows up in Joe Tricarichi's original Larson List.  hm

The Larson copy of 'Tec 35 as shown below is indeed a Conserved copy with a cover that's been cleaned:  :luhv:

Golden Age (1938-1955):Superhero, Detective Comics #35 Larson Pedigree (DC, 1940) CGC Conserved NM- 9.2 White pages....

Yet is listed in the original Larson List as being only a Fine graded copy with no notes.  Looks like the grading standards must have been quite different in the old days as I can clearly see the erased Larson name on this copy of 'Tec 35?   (shrug)

On the other hand, the CGC Apparent 6.5 Fine+ graded copy of 'Tec 36 with all that restoration shows up in the original Larson List as being a NM graded copy with what I believe is a note stating that it has a dark stain on the inside spine (hard to make out Joe Tricarichi's almost illegible handwriting??).  I assume what is meant is that the book would have been NM except for the dark stain on the inside spine of the book, although I find it rather puzzling that it would need all that much restoration work if Joe's grading was anywhere close to being accurate.  ???

Looks like "Ernest Moga" to me, but anyways this book used to be a 3.0.  It's too bad that it is back up for sale and not kept in one's collection for years to come.

Brian is correct.  Iirc, first offered raw as a '3.5' then as a 3.0 when first slabbed.

Some perspective later on after that:

wwcomics sale (this time as a 3.5)

Capture.thumb.PNG.163bbd94e5cb2df1003baf35f4e8ec72.PNG

then off to comiclink shortly thereafter for the 'flip'

Was this during CGC's relatively soft grading time period in 2010, as I don't think you would normally see that heavy spine wear down on the bottom of the spine for a CGC 7.0 graded copy of a book?  hm  (shrug)

Thats quite a hit the seller who paid 38.5k took. Assuming it didnt change hands privately in between those two sales. PS Although it looks more like "Ornesh" I think it is Ernest. I couldn't find any record of any person by either name. It'll probably hit at least 38K again this time around.

I'll take the under.  Probably around $25k or less.

Ok thats two of you who think that and I trust your judgement. I was just thinking that it went a little low last time combined with what I've noticed to be some pretty up there prices on GA's recently. Seems to be a growing interest in the old stuff this past year.
