So, if this CGC 4.0 copy manages to get over $54K, it looks like the new support level for 'Tec 38 might just be at the $14K mark or thereabouts on a price per point basis which is a significant increase from where it was a couple of years ago.

Not even close. But let's face it, not the greatest eye appeal on this copy.

So, this puts the 'Tec 38 back to the same steady upward trend line that it has been on for the past few years, as it has slowly inched its way up from $6K per point to what is now basically $10K+ per point.  (thumbsu

I guess the nice looking CGC 3.0 graded copy of 'Tec 38 that sold for just over $54K earlier this March was most likely just an outlier and the lucky consignor must be ecstatic and jumping for joy with the result that they got for the book.  :whee:

HA Tec 31 5.0 131K

HA Tec 33 8.0 167K

HA Tec 38 4.0 40K

Relatively strong price on the 'Tec 31 and a scorcher of a price for the 'Tec 33 which had seemingly fell out of favor with collectors for awhile there.

Definitely back in the limelight now, as evident by a doubling of prices in comparison to this CGC 8.0 copy that sold back in 2015:

Another 8.0 copy of Tec 33 sold for $150k back in March 2017.

Book has been hot going on two years now.  :baiting:

Of all of the Pre-Robin Tecs, it could be argued that #33 has, outside of #27, the deepest roots, by far the most historical significance and the greatest logical reason to be coveted.

Classic covers are incredible, undeniably desirable, but the Origin of Batman is one of the most importance stories ever told in comics.

Years ago, both Tec #33 and Tec #38 were dismissed as having had their day. They're back, arguably with more room for growth than the rest.

Agreed.  They both have the benefit of classic covers as well as substantive content (though 38 is technically not a "pre-Robin" lol ).

Agreed. Tec #33's cover is on-par with #29 and #31. I'd still pick #31's cover out of the three, but they're all close.

Totally agree with you here.  :baiting:

This "pre-Robin" designation should be reserved for books like Batman 1 which actually has the last  solo Batman story (albeit intended for 'Tec 38) with no Robin in there.

If only Bat 1 had Joker on the front cover instead of the boy blunder   Can you imagine how much more valuable the book could have been!?

If this was the cover of Batman #1, would it be enough to push the book ahead of Superman #1 despite the fact that there are far fewer Superman #1's?

Not sure about that but I certainly would like Bat 1 more if it had this cover.

I think the gap would be narrower between Bat 1 and Supes 1 with that cover since classic covers have been the norm of high sale prices for a book, sometimes moreso than the content itself (Tec 31 or 29 vs Tec 33). I personally would pay more for that kind of cover with the Joker than what we see now.

No but the gap would certainly be narrower.
